    Broadening of H2_2O rotational lines by collision with He atoms at low temperature

    We report pressure broadening coefficients for the 21 electric-dipole transitions between the eight lowest rotational levels of ortho-H2_2O and para-H2_2O molecules by collisions with He at temperatures from 20 to 120 K. These coefficients are derived from recently published experimental state-to-state rate coefficients for H2_2O:He inelastic collisions, plus an elastic contribution from close coupling calculations. The resulting coefficients are compared to the available experimental data. Mostly due to the elastic contribution, the pressure broadening coefficients differ much from line to line, and increase markedly at low temperature. The present results are meant as a guide for future experiments and astrophysical observations.Comment: 2 figures, 2 table

    How Mediterranean Deciduous Trees Cope with Long Summer Drought? The Case of Quercus pyrenaica Forests in Western Spain.

    The functional characteristics of Mediterranean deciduous trees provide an interesting model for investigating adaptative mechanisms to drought, useful to understand future changes of northern forests in scenery of climate change. In this article we analyse how a Mediterranean deciduous oak, Quercus pyrenaica, with a short vegetative period coincident with summer drought, cope with water deficit in that period. We revised published data on temporal dynamic of soil moisture and physiological status of tree leaves of several forest stands of Central–Western Spain and discuss the significance of soil water reserve and deep rooting system on the maintenance of tree transpiration and physiological activity of the trees along summer drought. Results revealed that (i) Q. pyrenaicaoak is only slightly water-limited during summer drought, (ii) Q. pyrenaicaoaks depend on thick weathered, porous bedrocks, and (iii) Q. pyrenaicais a well-performing deciduous oak to cope with increasing summer drought.Peer reviewe

    Effects of trapping site on the spectroscopy of 1P1 excited group 12 metal atoms in rare gas matrices

    A molecular dynamics deposition model has been used to simulate the growth of rare gas matrices doped with atoms of the group 12 elements zinc, cadmium and mercury. This study investigates the sites occupied by Zn, Cd and Hg metal atoms when isolated in the solid rare gases. To probe the results, the resonance 1 P 1-1 S 0 transitions of the matrix-isolated metal atoms were calculated and compared with the recorded spectra of the M/RG solids. The theoretical spectroscopy obtained in this work was generated using the molecular dynamics with quantum transitions method. In Ne matrices the metal atoms preferably occupy tetra- and hexa-vacancy sites while in the case of Xe matrices, only the single vacancy site is formed. For Ar and Kr matrices Zn but especially Cd can be trapped in tetra- and hexa-vacancy sites in addition to single-vacancy sites, while Hg atoms show exclusive occupancy in single vacancy sites.Fil: Lara Moreno, M..     Incidence of complications in breast reconstruction with autologous tissue in a third level hospital

    Background: The objective of this study is to analyze the incidence of complications after breast reconstruction with pedicled or free flaps at the hospital general de Mexico "Dr. Eduardo Liceaga”. Methods: A retrospective, single-center study, including 44 female patients, who underwent immediate or delayed breast reconstruction after breast cancer, between 2019 and 2020, and had at least a 2-year follow up, evaluating the association between patient risk factors (age, history of radiotherapy, presence of overweight or obesity and immediate or delayed reconstruction) with the presence of complications such as seroma, hematoma, wound infection or wound dehiscence. We analyzed data with SPSS software, v23.0. Results: There was no statistically significant difference for the presence of complications associated with risk factors studied. Conclusions: We need more prospective, multicenter studies, including larger sample and strict follow up of patients

    Marginal bone loss around implants placed in maxillary native bone or grafted sinuses: a retrospective cohort study

    Objectives To assess differences in marginal bone loss around implants placed in maxillary pristine bone and implants placed following maxillary sinus augmentation over a period of 3 years after functional loading. Material and methods Two cohorts of subjects (Group 1: Subjects who received sinus augmentation with simultaneous implant placement; Group 2: Subjects who underwent conventional implant placement in posterior maxillary pristine bone) were included in this retrospective study. Radiographic marginal bone loss was measured around one implant per patient on digitized panoramic radiographs that were obtained at the time of prosthesis delivery (baseline) and 12, 24, and 36 months later. The influence of age, gender, smoking habits, history of periodontal disease, and type of prosthetic connection (internal or external) on marginal bone loss was analyzed in function of the type of osseous support (previously grafted or pristine). Results A total of 105 subjects were included in this study. Cumulative radiographic marginal bone loss ranged from 0 mm to 3.9 mm after 36 months of functional loading. There were statistically significant differences in marginal bone loss between implants placed in grafted and pristine bone at the 12‐month assessment, but not in the subsequent progression rate. External prosthetic connection, smoking, and history of periodontitis negatively influenced peri‐implant bone maintenance, regardless of the type of osseous substrate. Conclusions Implants placed in sites that received maxillary sinus augmentation exhibited more marginal bone loss than implants placed in pristine bone, although marginal bone loss mainly occurred during the first 12 months after functional loading.     In the title compound, [RuCl(C10H14)(C14H16N2)]PF6, the aromatic ring of the isopropyl­methyl­benzene fragment shows an η6-arene coordination to the ruthenium atom. Its coordination sphere is completed by a chloride ligand and 2-(sec-butyl­imino­meth­yl)quinoline. The dihedral angle between the η6-arene ring and the quinoline Schiff base is 45.64 (9)°. The sec-butyl substituent and the PF6 − anion are disordered over two positions with ratios of 0.595 (11):0.405 (11) and 0.752 (8):0.248 (8), respectively

    En las ultima década, se han destacado las técnicas de control inteligente fuzzy para tratar sistemas de modelamiento tipo caja negra, fuertemente desarrolladas en aplicaciones de investigación e industria (Borja, T. J. A. 2006). Este trabajo presenta los resultados de un estudio experimental llevando acabo las etapas de construcción, instrumentación, y desarrollo de un control fuzzy adaptativo aplicado a un banco de pruebas de un sistema de refrigeración; integrando los principios de proyecto térmico, proyecto electrónico, programación y técnicas de control con la finalidad de aumentar la eficiencia térmica del sistema para mantener apropiadamente las condiciones normales de operación en función de las principales variables del proceso. Los resultados marcaron una gran influencia entre la apertura de la válvula de expansión y la frecuencia de rotación del compresor, los cuales contribuyen positivamente en el incremento del CO

    Analysis of a new strain of Euphorbia mosaic virus with distinct replication specificity unveils a lineage of begomoviruses with short Rep sequences in the DNA-B intergenic region

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p><it>Euphorbia mosaic virus </it>(EuMV) is a member of the SLCV clade, a lineage of New World begomoviruses that display distinctive features in their replication-associated protein (Rep) and virion-strand replication origin. The first entirely characterized EuMV isolate is native from Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico; subsequently, EuMV was detected in weeds and pepper plants from another region of Mexico, and partial DNA-A sequences revealed significant differences in their putative replication specificity determinants with respect to EuMV-YP. This study was aimed to investigate the replication compatibility between two EuMV isolates from the same country.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>A new isolate of EuMV was obtained from pepper plants collected at Jalisco, Mexico. Full-length clones of both genomic components of EuMV-Jal were biolistically inoculated into plants of three different species, which developed symptoms indistinguishable from those induced by EuMV-YP. Pseudorecombination experiments with EuMV-Jal and EuMV-YP genomic components demonstrated that these viruses do not form infectious reassortants in <it>Nicotiana benthamiana</it>, presumably because of Rep-iteron incompatibility. Sequence analysis of the EuMV-Jal DNA-B intergenic region (IR) led to the unexpected discovery of a 35-nt-long sequence that is identical to a segment of the <it>rep </it>gene in the cognate viral DNA-A. Similar short <it>rep </it>sequences ranging from 35- to 51-nt in length were identified in all EuMV isolates and in three distinct viruses from South America related to EuMV. These short <it>rep </it>sequences in the DNA-B IR are positioned downstream to a ~160-nt non-coding domain highly similar to the CP promoter of begomoviruses belonging to the SLCV clade.</p> <p>Conclusions</p> <p>EuMV strains are not compatible in replication, indicating that this begomovirus species probably is not a replicating lineage in nature. The genomic analysis of EuMV-Jal led to the discovery of a subgroup of SLCV clade viruses that contain in the non-coding region of their DNA-B component, short <it>rep </it>gene sequences located downstream to a <it>CP</it>-promoter-like domain. This assemblage of DNA-A-related sequences within the DNA-B IR is reminiscent of polyomavirus microRNAs and could be involved in the posttranscriptional regulation of the cognate viral <it>rep </it>gene, an intriguing possibility that should be experimentally explored</p

    Impact of the new handling recommendations for hazardous drugs in a hospital pharmacy service

    Objective: To describe the actions taken by the Pharmacy Unit in a tertiary hospital in order to adapt to the recommendations established by NIOSH 2014 for handling Hazardous Drugs. Method: A retrospective observational study. A list was prepared including all hazardous drugs according to NIOSH 2014 that were available at the hospital as marketed or foreign drugs, or used in clinical trials, and there was a review of the processes of acquisition, repackaging, preparation, circuits, organizational, dispensing and identification. Results: After the analysis, a report including all needs was prepared and sent to the Hospital Management. Any relevant information about the handling and administration of hazardous drugs was included in the prescription computer program. There were changes in the acquisition process of two drugs, in order to avoid splitting and multi-dose formulations. An alternative or improvement was found for 35 253 of the 75 779 units of hazardous drugs repackaged in one year. The Pharmacy Unit took over the preparation of four non-sterile medications, as well as the preparation of all sterile parenteral medications included in Lists 1 and 2 that were not previously prepared there, as well as one from List 3. Information was also included about the preparation processes of Magistral Formulations that involved hazardous drugs from Lists 2 or 3
