Semileptonic decays of charmed mesons in the effective action of QCD
Within the framework of phenomenological Lagrangians we construct the
effective action of QCD relevant for the study of semileptonic decays of
charmed mesons. Hence we evaluate the form factors of D -> P(0^-) l^+ nu_l at
leading order in the 1/N_C expansion and, by demanding their QCD-ruled
asymptotic behaviour, we constrain the couplings of the Lagrangian. The
features of the model-independent parameterization of form factors provided and
their relevance for the analysis of experimental data are pointed out.Comment: 1+24 pages, 1 figure. Updated version. Conclusions unchanged.

Two-loop hybrid renormalization of local dimension-4 heavy-light operators
The renormalization of local dimension-4 operators containing a heavy and a
light quark field at scales below the heavy-quark mass is discussed, using the
formalism of the heavy-quark effective theory. The anomalous dimensions of
these operators and their mixing are calculated to two-loop order. Some
phenomenological applications are briefly discussed.Comment: 11 pages, 2 figure
QCD Isospin Breaking in Meson Masses, Decay Constants and Quark Mass Ratios
The procedure to calculate masses and matrix-elements in the presence of
mixing of the basis states is explained in detail. We then apply this procedure
to the two-loop calculation in Chiral Perturbation Theory of pseudoscalar
masses and decay constants including quark mass isospin breaking. These results
are used to update our analysis of done previously and obtain a
value of in addition to values for the low-energy-constants .Comment: 22 pages, uses axodraw.st
D^0-D^0(bar) mixing in the weak-gauged U(4)_L x U(4)_R Chiral Lagrangian Model
The D^0-D^0(bar) mixing is analyzed in a weak gauged U(4)_L x U(4)_R chiral
lagrangian model where the electroweak interaction is introduced as a gauge
theory over the meson degrees of freedom. This model allows a particular
realization of the G.I.M. mechanism and then could be useful in the study of
processes where G.I.M. suppression is effective. As a test of the model we have
also analyzed the K^0-K^0(bar) mixing. We find \Delta m_K in good agreement
with the experimental result and we show that the D^0-D^0(bar) mixing is very
much suppressed in agreement with previous estimates in the Heavy Quark
expansion framework.Comment: 14 pages, 2 figures, Latex, minor changes in the writing, final

Meson resonances, large N_c and chiral symmetry
We investigate the implications of large N_c and chiral symmetry for the mass
spectra of meson resonances. Unlike for most other mesons, the mass matrix of
the light scalars deviates strongly from its large-N_c limit. We discuss the
possible assignments for the lightest scalar nonet that survives in the
large-N_c limit.Comment: 14 page
An example of resonance saturation at one loop
We argue that the large-Nc expansion of QCD can be used to treat a Lagrangian
of resonances in a perturbative way. As an illustration of this we compute the
L_10 coupling of the Chiral Lagrangian by integrating out resonance fields at
one loop. Given a Lagrangian and a renormalization scheme, this is how in
principle one can answer in a concrete and unambiguous manner questions such as
at what scale resonance saturation takes place.Comment: 9 pages, 5 figures. Enlarged discussion, results unchanged. To be

Scattering in Three Flavour ChPT
We present the scattering lengths for the processes in the three
flavour Chiral Perturbation Theory (ChPT) framework at next-to-next-to-leading
order (NNLO). The calculation has been performed analytically but we only
include analytical results for the dependence on the low-energy constants
(LECs) at NNLO due to the size of the expressions. These results, together with
resonance estimates of the NNLO LECs are used to obtain constraints on the
Zweig rule suppressed LECs at NLO, and . Contrary to
expectations from NLO order calculations we find them to be compatible with
zero. We do a preliminary study of combining the results from
scattering, scattering and the scalar form-factors and find only a
marginal compatibility with all experimental/dispersive input data.Comment: 23 page
The Inverse Amplitude Method in Scattering in Chiral Perturbation Theory to Two Loops
The inverse amplitude method is used to unitarize the two loop
scattering amplitudes of SU(2) Chiral Perturbation Theory in the ,
and channels. An error analysis in terms of the low energy
one-loop parameters and existing experimental data is
undertaken. A comparison to standard resonance saturation values for the two
loop coefficients is also carried out. Crossing
violations are quantified and the convergence of the expansion is discussed.Comment: (Latex, epsfig) 30 pages, 13 figures, 8 table
