Assessment of Virgin Olive Oil Adulteration by a Rapid Luminescent Method
The adulteration of virgin olive oil with hazelnut oil is a common fraud in the food industry,
which makes mandatory the development of accurate methods to guarantee the authenticity and
traceability of virgin olive oil. In this work, we demonstrate the potential of a rapid luminescent
method to characterize edible oils and to detect adulterations among them. A regression model
based on five luminescent frequencies related to minor oil components was designed and validated,
providing excellent performance for the detection of virgin olive oil adulteration

Dialogic Learning Environments that Enhance Instrumental Learning and Inclusion of Students with Special Needs in Secondary Education
Across Europe, the enrolment of students with special educational needs in regular classrooms is increasing, although it does not always mean access to high quality educational experience. In this context, inclusive education has been enhanced in most educational systems, but its successful implementation is still limited and has become a challenge in most countries, and specially in secondary education, when segregation due to learning achievement is more frequent. Educational practices that take into account the potential of promoting learning interactions within heterogeneous groups of students have already demonstrated contributing to educational inclusion of students with special needs. In this study we analyse the case of a secondary education school located in Valencian Community (Spain), which educates students with special needs along with their typically developing peers and is characterized by its inclusive ethos. The analysis focuses on three educational strategies implemented in the school and their impact on educational improvement and inclusion of the students with special needs: (1) co-teaching, (2) interactive groups, (3) dialogic literary gatherings. Qualitative data were obtained from communicative focus groups with teachers, communicative life stories with students and relatives, communicative observations of the three educational strategies and documentary analysis. The findings show significant increase in the students' instrumental learning, as well as an improvement in these students' overall inclusion in the school

Sustainability in the trans-border regions? The case of Andalusia – Algarve
The goal of this work is to detect the basic characteristics of the development of the southern border between Spain and Portugal.
This trans-border area is described and analyzed comparing the region of Algarve, in Portugal and the region of the County, in Huelva, Spain. The method used 15 quantitative indicators, desegregated at municipal level, obtained from different official sources and applied to 30 municipalities. The analysis includes multivariate statistic methods.
The conclusions show that those indicators related to national governance systems are of utmost importance in the cluster classification. Furthermore, those municipalities with higher development levels are also less sustainable from the environmental point of view – this is probably due to the fact that tourism supports the fragile socio-economic systems in many of such regions. Significantly, the clustering tendencies show that the Portuguese municipalities are tourism oriented (or less tourism oriented) and the Spanish ones are agri-business (or less agribusiness oriented). Lastly, such geographic structures seem to have its roots in long term paths of development.Centro de Investigaçao do Espaço e as Organizaçoes CIEO, University of Algarve, Portuga
Qualitative analysis on the influence of the volunteer in the successful educational actions of Learning Communities.
This article presents a study conducted within the Spanish National Grant entitled Impact of
interactive learning environments on academic and social success (IMP-EXIT), funded by the Ministry
of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness. The main objective addressed in this paper to study the
role of the volunteers facilitating students’ dialogue and interaction in small groups, through the
teachers perspectives. Firstly, the dialogical learning model used in these classrooms is discussed,
as well as the concept of Learning Communities and Successful Educational Actions, particularly,
the Interactive Groups (GI), and the role of the volunteer in the classroom. The second part of the
article includes the content and discourse analysis extracted from interviews with teachers from 10
classrooms of 5 Spanish elementary schools where the field work was carried out. These evidences
confirm the fundamental role of volunteers in facilitating the Interactive Groups in the classroom to
improve coexistence and school climate as a quality assurance in our educational system.
sistema educativo
