The Artificial Intelligence Course at the Faculty of Computer Science in the Polytechnic University of Madrid

This paper presents the experience of teaching an Artificial Intelligence course at the Faculty of Computer Science in the Polytechnic University of Madrid, Spain. The objective of this course is to introduce the students to this field, to prepare them to contribute to the evolution of the technology, and to qualify them to solve problems in the real world using Artificial Intelligence technology. The curriculum of the Artificial Intelligence course, which is integrated into the Artificial Intelligence Department's program, allows us to educate the students in this sense using the monographic teaching method

Gravitational waveforms with controlled accuracy

A partially first-order form of the characteristic formulation is introduced to control the accuracy in the computation of gravitational waveforms produced by highly distorted single black hole spacetimes. Our approach is to reduce the system of equations to first-order differential form on the angular derivatives, while retaining the proven radial and time integration schemes of the standard characteristic formulation. This results in significantly improved accuracy over the standard mixed-order approach in the extremely nonlinear post-merger regime of binary black hole collisions.Comment: Revised version, published in Phys. Form factors of radiative pion decays in nonlocal chiral quark models

We study the radiative pion decay pi+ -> e+ nu_e gamma within nonlocal chiral quark models that include wave function renormalization. In this framework we analyze the momentum dependence of the vector form factor F_V(q^2), and the slope of the axial-vector form factor F_A(q^2) at threshold. Our results are compared with available experimental information and with the predictions given by the NJL model. In addition we calculate the low energy constants l_5 and l_6, comparing our results with the values obtained in chiral perturbation theory.Comment: 22 pages, 1 figure. arXiv admin note: substantial text overlap with arXiv:1011.640

Empoderamiento del empobrecimiento. La pelea por las representaciones

Este trabajo forma parte de una investigación denominada “Mundos imaginados – mundos posibles. La socialidad reflexiva en los participantes en un proyecto educativo político, veinte años después”, cuyo objetivo fue analizar las formas en que se articulan la socialidad, la reflexividad y la memoria colectiva en los participantes en un proyecto educativo político en la década de 1980 en Guadalajara, Jalisco, México. La indagación pretende recuperar y analizar las narrativas y representaciones de los sujetos participantes en torno a la experiencia aludida. El presente documento parte de la pregunta ¿cómo se reconstruye el imaginario de ser pobre en el escenario de procesos organizativos? Uno de sus propósitos investigativos fue el buscar resquicios de agencia en los intersticios de la globalización – desglobalización y en los procesos de visibilización/invisibilización de sujetos/actores sociales, donde los diferenciales de movilidad, la relación entre exclusión e inclusión, conexión o desconexión, aislamiento y pertenencia son referentes de socialidad.ITESO, A.C

Characteristics of the chiral phase transition in nonlocal quark models

The characteristics of the chiral phase transition are analyzed within the framework of chiral quark models with nonlocal interactions in the mean field approximation. In the chiral limit, we develop a semi-analytic framework which allows us to explicitly determine the phase transition curve, the position of the critical points, some relevant critical exponents, etc. For the case of finite current quark masses, we show the behavior of various thermodynamical and chiral response functions across the phase transition.Comment: 19 pages, 5 figures. La recuperación de la práctica educativa y la profesionalización de la actividad docente

El espacio educativo toma sentido en tanto se reconoce como lugar de confluencia de sujetos, que con su actividad cotidiana lo construyen día a día. Este trabajo pretende rescatar a uno de lo sujetos de la educación: el maestro. Se aborda la práctica docente desde las relaciones sociales, es decir, la interacción cotidiana entre maestro-alumno en el salón de clases y se plantean los retos del maestro para lograr una profesionalización de la actividad docente.ITESO, A.C
