Ponencia de 7th International Conference on Intercultural Education “Education, Health and ICT for a Transcultural World”, EDUHEM 2016, AlmeriaPartial results of the Project R&D, Career Design and entrepreneurial talent management, of national dimension, funded by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness in the call for Excellence 2013 State Plan 2013 - 2016 with reference: EDU2013 - 45704 - P. Specifically we focus on (subject) describe and analyze the situation of Andalusian women confronting the entrepreneurship, their motivations and the factors that influence these processes and, all including a gender perspective. The objectives refer to: 1) Describing the situation of Andalusian women in entrepreneurship ; 2) Understanding and explain the motivations and decisions that drive them to take; 3) Identifying and describing the ( positive and negative) conditions that perceive women against undertaking; 4) Understanding from a gender analysis the positions of women on entrepreneurship related to their life projects. A descriptive and qualitative methodology is combined, collecting info rmation through various techniques such as social indicators, observational documentary sources and procedures, as well as interviews and life stories. Results and Conclusions. The findings so far point to an unequal situation regarding entrepreneurship. Relevant results are also obtained as to the incentives and decisions that drive to undertake, either obligation, because of the limited supply and possibilities of market access to paid employment , or vocation, leading us to question what barriers - internal - external and more or less subtle ones operating in these processes. On this issue we find factors that result in inequalities, such as maternity (number of children) and family and dependency (care) all for the economic and employment model that still prevails responsibilitie

Why continue sharing: determinants of behavior in collaborative economy services

The sharing economy is revolutionizing the way consumers use goods and services. In our study we modify and extend the expectation confirmation model to determine the motivational factors which drive the satisfaction and continue intention to use ridesharing services. Most importantly, we add social value as an additional factor to those previously studied in the literature. We apply our model in a survey among experienced Spanish users of BlaBlaCar. Service quality, perceived usefulness, trust and social value are determinants of satisfaction of experienced users and through it, of intention to continuance; while it is the case neither for environmental impact nor for economic benefits. Additionally, trust affects directly continuance. These results have relevant managerial implications, showing that users of some sharing services are motivated by other factors than purely economic

Current status of L. infantum infection in stray cats in the Madrid region (Spain): implications for the recent outbreak of human leishmaniosis?

BACKGROUND: Since 2009, the incidence of human leishmaniosis in the SW of the Madrid region has been unusually high. Although dogs are the main reservoir for this disease, a role played by dogs in this outbreak has been ruled out and investigators are now considering other hosts (eg. cats, rabbits, hares) as possible alternative reservoirs. This study was designed to examine the Leishmania infantum status of stray cats in Madrid to assess its possible implications in the human leishmaniosis outbreak. METHODS: 346 captured stray cats were tested for antibodies against L. infantum by the indirect fluorescent antibody technique (IFAT) and nested-PCR methods were used to detect Leishmania DNA in blood samples of cats testing seropositive for L. infantum and/or retroviruses infection. Cats were also tested for Toxoplasma gondii using the direct agglutination test (DAT) and feline leukemia virus (FeLV) antigen and feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) antibodies (PetChek* FIV/FeLV). The presence of intestinal parasites was determined using a routine coprological method. RESULTS: The seroprevalence of L. infantum infection (cut off ≥ 1/100) was 3.2% (11/346). However, it was not possible to amplify Leishmania DNA in any of the blood samples. Seropositivity was not associated with sex, age, capture site, clinical status, retrovirus infection or T. gondii seropositivity. Of the 11 cats seropositive for L. infantum, 3 also tested positive for FIV, none for FeLV and 6 for T. gondii. It should be mentioned that the prevalence of FeLV p27 antigen was 4% and of FIV antibody was 9.2%. Although the seroprevalence of T. gondii was quite high at 53.5%, no T. gondii oocysts were found in any of the faeces samples analysed (n = 287). In contrast, intestinal parasites were detected in 76 (26.5%) samples, Toxocara cati being the most prevalent. CONCLUSIONS: Our results suggest a stable L. infantum infection situation among the stray cats of the Madrid area; the disease is uncommon and no clinical cases have been reported to date. The detection of other zoonotic parasites such as T. gondii and T. cati in stray cats indicates a need to adopt strict control measures in this population

The school of the 21st century must be in line with contemporary social demands, attention to diversity and social inclusion being one of them. Quality education cannot be guaranteed without considering ed-ucation as a guarantor of the social justice necessary for everyone to achieve success. Therefore, peda-gogical leaders must carry out inclusive leadership that enables the transformation necessary for the de-velopment of an inclusive school. In this leadership, it is understood that the entire educational commu-nity is part of the educational process, which requires its contributions and singularities in order to achieve the common goal. The aim of the study is to evaluate the degree to which the leadership exercised by school management favours the inclusionand learning of all students. The LEI-Q questionnaires with Lick-ert-type scales in two versions, one for teachers and the other for families, were used as instruments. The sample consisted of 156 primary schools and 46 families. The results show that theleadership exercised by educational leaders has managed to partially implement measures for the construction of inclusive spaces, although not in their entiret

The Promotion of Physical Activity from Digital Services: Influence of E-Lifestyles on Intention to Use Fitness Apps

    Get PDF
E-Lifestyles are individual forms of behavior in the digital environment that reflect the values, activities, interests, and opinions of consumers. Likewise, fitness Apps are considered technological tools for promoting physical activity online. Although there are studies related to sports lifestyles, it has not been analyzed yet how e-lifestyles are related to the use of fitness Apps. Based on this, this study represents a step to clarify how e-lifestyles influence different relationships with perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, attitude, and intentions to use Fitness Apps. Therefore, the objective of the study was to analyze the relationship between the e-lifestyles of consumers of Boutique fitness centers and their relationship with the perceived ease of use, the perceived usefulness, the attitude, and the intention to use Fitness Apps. The sample was 591 customers (378 women and 213 men) of 25 Boutique fitness centers. An online questionnaire was used for data collection. Data was analyzed with confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation model. Findings provide an insight into the importance of e-lifestyles in the intention of using fitness Apps and therefore in promoting physical activity through online fitness services. The results showed positive relationships between e-lifestyles, perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness and attitude toward fitness Apps. Finally, the attitude toward fitness Apps offered a very high predictive value on use intention. This study provides a better understanding of consumer’s intention to use fitness Apps. The conclusions and recommendations for sports managers of fitness centers highlight the importance of e-lifestyles as a predecessor for the use of fitness Apps

Effect of digestive enzymes on the bioactive properties of goat milk protein hydrolysates

    Get PDF
The aim of this research was to study the influence of the gastrointestinal digestion on the bioactivity of goat milk protein hydrolysates prepared with subtilisin, trypsin and a combination of these two enzymes. All hydrolysates had excellent angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitory activity, antioxidant activity and bile acid-binding capacity. Peptide profiles and bioactivities were mainly altered during the intestinal digestion, whereas the effect of the gastric digestion was negligible. The influence of the intestinal digestion varied depending on the hydrolysate and the bioactivity studied. In the case of ACE inhibitory activity, it exclusively decreased when peptides were produced with trypsin. In contrast, antioxidant activity and bile acid-binding capacity improved after the gastrointestinal digestion, regardless the enzymatic treatment conducted. Hydrolysis employing mixtures of subtilisin and trypsin is considered a good approach to produce peptides that maintain, or even enhance, their bioactivity after digestion.Consejería de Innovación, Ciencia y Empresa of Junta de Andalucía (project P12-AGR-1993)Consejería de Innovación, Ciencia y Empresa of Junta de Andalucía (postdoctoral position of F. Parietaria pollen is one of the main causes of hay fever and asthma in the population, presenting a high allergenicity. That is why, in order to inform the population, it is important to determine whether its behaviour pattern is different in different parts of the city. The objective of this study was to analyze and compare the behaviour pattern of the Parietaria pollen type in two different points within the city of Malaga and to analyze the existing correlation between pollen concentrations and the main meteorological parameters. We used two Hirst-type volumetric pollen traps, one of them installed in the periphery and the other in the city center, between 2017 and 2019. The samples were mounted and counted following the recommendations of the Spanish Aerobiology Network. To calculate the annual pollen integral, the sum of the mean daily concentrations throughout the year was used. To calculate the intradaily variations, the values were accumulated every two hours, expressed as percentages of the daily total. In order to study the relationships between meteorological parameters and pollen concentrations, Spearman correlation tests have been carried out. The values of the annual pollen integral were always much higher in the centre. Daily mean concentrations showed the presence of this pollen type in the atmosphere throughout the year. Regarding the intraday pattern, a more pronounced peak was observed in the city centre, while in the periphery, the distribution is more homogeneous throughout the day. The meteorological parameters play an important role in determining the daily concentrations in the atmosphere. In the light of these results, we can conclude that it is necessary to install several sampling points within the same city, due to its heterogeneity and different land uses, in order to inform the population with a greater precision and, in this way, prevent respiratory allergies.Universidad de Málaga. Sierra de las Nieves was declared National Park in 2021. Around 100 000 people visit the park every year and a high percentage of them may suffer allergy symptoms due to the presence of some pollen types in the atmosphere. The aim of this study was to determine the allergenic potential of the concentrations registered in the atmosphere of Sierra de las Nieves National Park as well as the seasonality of different pollen types. Airborne pollen was sampled by means of a Hirst-type volumetric pollen trap installed in “Las Conejeras” recreational area. In this study, data of the year 2022 were considered. Pollen samples were mounted and counted following the methodology proposed by the Spanish Aerobiology Network. Data were managed by means of the AeRobiology package, implemented in R software. Spearman correlations test between daily pollen concentrations and the main meteorological parameters were performed. Airborne pollen was detected during almost the whole year, with the highest concentrations being reached during the period April-June (89.19% of the total annual pollen integral). The pollen type with the highest number of days with concentrations of high allergenic potential was Quercus (25 days), followed by Castanea and Poaceae (8 days), the period with the highest risk for allergy sufferers being April-July. High temperatures favour pollen release, increasing the airborne pollen concentrations, but precipitation and high relative humidity favour pollen precipitation, reducing airborne pollen concentrations. Wind dynamics play different roles depending on the pollen type considered, due to the heterogeneous distribution of the pollen emission sources. Allergy sufferers should consider the pollination period of the pollen types which they are allergic to when planning their visits to the National Park, especially on days with high temperatures and low relative humidity, meteorological conditions that tend to increase pollen concentrations. Our aim was to examine and map the consequences of chronic pain in children and adolescents. Method: A scoping review was carried out in the international databases (PubMed, SCOPUS, WOS and CINAHL, Cochrane Library) and gray literature. We included documents that addressed psychosocial aspects that influence chronic pain, published in English between 2010 and 2016. We excluded the documents that dealt with pharmacological treatments, chronic pain derived from surgical interventions or where there was no access to full text. 34 of the 716 documents reviewed were included. Results: Studies show that pain is associated with high rates of functional disability, sleep disorders and spectrum depression-anxiety. Young people experience higher rates of victimization and stigmatization, contributing to social isolation, difficulty in meeting academic demands and less opportunity to consume illegal substances. With respect to the family, chronic pain has been associated with poorer family functioning and considerable investment of economic resources. Conclusions: This Scoping Review shows that functional capacity, sleep, personal development, peer support and family functioning are interesting lines in published works. However, gaps in knowledge are detected in areas such as risk behaviours, the consequences that pain can cause in adulthood and gender inequalities
