    The massive 3-loop operator matrix elements with two masses and the generalized variable flavor number scheme

    We report on our latest results in the calculation of the two--mass contributions to 3--loop operator matrix elements (OMEs). These OMEs are needed to compute the corresponding contributions to the deep-inealstic scattering structure functions and to generalize the variable flavor number scheme by including both charm and bottom quarks. We present the results for the non-singlet and Agq,QA_{gq,Q} OMEs, and compare the size of their contribution relative to the single mass case. Results for the gluonic OME Agg,QA_{gg,Q} are given in the physical case, going beyond those presented in a previous publication where scalar diagrams were computed. We also discuss our recently published two--mass contribution to the pure singlet OME, and present an alternative method of calculating the corresponding diagrams.Comment: 20 pages Latex, 5 Figures, different style file

    Renewed diversification following Miocene landscape turnover in a Neotropical butterfly radiation

    International audienceAim: The landscape of the Neotropical region has undergone dynamic evolution throughout the Miocene, with the extensive Pebas wetland occupying western Amazonia between 23 and c. 10 Ma and the continuous uplift of the Andes mountains. The complex interaction between the Andes and Amazonia probably influenced the trajectory of Neotropical biodiversity, but evidence from time‐calibrated phylogenies of groups that diversified during this period is lacking. We investigate the role of these landscape transformations in the dynamics of diversification in the Neotropical region using a 26‐Myr‐old endemic butterfly radiation.Location: Neotropics.Time period: Oligocene to present.Major taxa studied: Ithomiini butterflies.Methods: We generated one of the most comprehensive time‐calibrated molecular phylogenies of a large clade of Neotropical insects, the butterfly tribe Ithomiini, comprising 340 species (87% of extant species) and spanning 26 Myr of diversification. We applied a large array of birth–death models and historical biogeography estimations to assess the dynamics of diversification and biotic interchanges, especially at the Amazonia–Andes interface.Results: Our results suggest that the Amazonian Pebas wetland system played a major role in the timing and geography of diversification of Ithomiini, by constraining dispersal and diversification in the Amazon basin until c. 10 Ma. During the Pebas wetland period, Ithomiini diversification mostly took place in the Andes, where terrestrial habitats were not affected. An explosion of interchanges with Amazonia and with the Northern Andes accompanied the demise of the Pebas system (11–8 Ma) and was followed by local diversification in those areas, which led to a substantial renewal of diversification.Main conclusions: Many studies on Neotropical diversity have focused only on the Andes, whereas we show that it is the waxing and waning of the Pebas mega‐wetland, interacting with Andean uplift, that determined the timing and patterns of regional interchanges and diversification in Ithomiini

    In a recent paper, de Freitas et al. [Phys. Rev. E 61, 6330 (2000)] presented simulational results for the critical exponents of the two-species reaction-diffusion system A + B -> 2B and B -> A in dimension d = 1. In particular, the correlation length exponent was found as \nu = 2.21(5) in contradiction to the exact relation \nu = 2/d. In this Comment, the symmetry arguments leading to exact critical exponents for the universality class of this reaction-diffusion system are concisely reconsidered

    Bosonic Seesaw in the Unparticle Physics

    Recently, conceptually new physics beyond the Standard Model has been proposed by Georgi, where a new physics sector becomes conformal and provides "unparticle" which couples to the Standard Model sector through higher dimensional operators in low energy effective theory. Among several possibilities, we focus on operators involving the (scalar) unparticle, Higgs and the gauge bosons. Once the Higgs develops the vacuum expectation value (VEV), the conformal symmetry is broken and as a result, the mixing between the unparticle and the Higgs boson emerges. In this paper, we consider a natural realization of bosonic seesaw in the context of unparticle physics. In this framework, the negative mass squared or the electroweak symmetry breaking vacuum is achieved as a result of mass matrix diagonalization. In the diagonalization process, it is important to have zero value in the (1,1)-element of the mass matrix. In fact, the conformal invariance in the hidden sector can actually assure the zero of that element. So, the bosonic seesaw mechanism for the electroweak symmetry breaking can naturally be understood in the framework of unparticle physics.Comment: 5 pages, no figure; added one more referenc

    O Cotidiano dos Trabalhadores da Unidade de Internação Pediátrica de um Hospital Universitário e a Síndrome de Burnout

    O estudo busca compreender os modos de viver o trabalho, os elementos relacionados ao trabalho e a saúde dos profissionais de saúde de uma unidade de internação pediátrica. O trabalho em saúde vem atravessando, ao longo das últimas décadas, um intenso processo de transformação, com repercussões na saúde física e mental desses trabalhadores. Foi realizado um estudo utilizando a combinação dos métodos quantitativo e qualitativo, buscando compreender os elementos da situação de trabalho que interferem nos processos de trabalho e na saúde do trabalhador que possam contribuir para o desencadeamento (ou não) da síndrome de burnout. A pesquisa adotou uma abordagem qualitativa ao utilizar estratégias de observação participante, entrevistas individuais, questionário sóciodemográfico e o MBI para avaliação das dimensões de burnout. A análise dos dados foi fundamentada no método de interpretação dos sentidos. Os resultados indicaram baixos níveis de risco para desenvolvimento de burnout, sustentados por elementos positivos da organização de trabalho que permeiam o trabalho no setor. As relações de confiança e cooperação, embora não isentas de conflitos, parecem auxiliar no equilíbrio entre o trabalho e a saúde dos trabalhadores. Nesta dinâmica, incluem-se o valor social, o reconhecimento e a satisfação em cuidar de crianças. A despeito das dificuldades frente à precariedade dos recursos e da baixa resolutividade da gestão na resolução desses problemas, os trabalhadores conservam o sentido do trabalho e um saber-fazer em seu cotidiano, que tem favorecido positivamente a relação entre o trabalho e a saúde

    Resumo: A viabilidade dos probióticos Bifidobacterium animalis e Lactobacilus rhamnosus e o teor de fibra alimentar total foram avaliados em quatro tratamentos de bebidas lácteas fermentadas caprinas adicionadas de polpas de goiaba (GO) e graviola (GR) e galactomanana parcialmente hidrolisada de Caesalpinia pulcherrima (GMPH): T1 = GO; T2 = GR; T3 = GO+ GMPH; T4 = GR + GMPH. As populações dos probióticos na porção de 200 ml de bebida foram superiores a 8-9 log UFC durante 21 dias de armazenamento em todos os tratamentos estudados e as bebidas lácteas T3 e T4 puderam ser classificadas como fontes de fibra alimentar de acordo com a legislação nacional vigente.Edição dos anais do 20º Congresso Brasileiro de Nutrição e III Ibero-Americano de Nutrição, 2012
