    Unitary invariants of qubit systems

    We give an algorithm allowing to construct bases of local unitary invariants of pure k-qubit states from the knowledge of polynomial covariants of the group of invertible local filtering operations. The simplest invariants obtained in this way are explicited and compared to various known entanglement measures. Complete sets of generators are obtained for up to four qubits, and the structure of the invariant algebras is discussed in detail.Comment: 19 pages, 1 figur

    An unexpected gene cluster for downstream degradation of alkylphenols in Sphingomonas sp. strain TTNP3

    In silico analysis of nucleotide sequences flanking the recently found hydroquinone dioxygenase in Sphingomonas sp. strain TTNP3 revealed a gene cluster that encodes a hydroquinone catabolic pathway. In addition to the two open-reading frames encoding the recently characterized hydroquinone dioxygenase, the cluster consisted of six open-reading frames. We were able to express the three open-reading frames, hqdC, hqdD, and hqdE, and demonstrated that the three gene products, HqdC, HqdD, and HqdE had 4-hydroxymuconic semialdehyde dehydrogenase, maleylacetate reductase, and intradiol dioxygenase activity, respectively. Surprisingly, the gene cluster showed similarities to functionally related clusters found in members of the β- and γ-proteobacteria rather than to those found in other members of the genus Sphingomonas sensu lat

    Melt-processed PLA/HA platelet nanoparticle composites produced using tailored dispersants

    Hydroxyapatite (HA) nanoparticles, similar to those seen in the structure of human bone, have been produced via hydrothermal synthesisand used to produce nanocomposite materials via melt blending with poly(lactic acid)(PLA). Both of these processes are scalable and commercially relevant. Tailored dispersants were developed and used to improve the dispersion of the HA. Modest improvements in flexural properties were observed (max increases 30% of dry modulus, 13% of wet strength). Rheometry is not suggestive of achieving percolation,so there is potential to improve mechanical properties further. It was established that very dry processing conditions are essential to maintaining the molecular weight of the PLA during processing and that the use of the tailored dispersants can also help to mitigateprocess-induced degradation.MicroCT has proved to be a useful quality control tool to support TEM analysis

    We are planning an international rocket experiment Chromospheric Lyman-Alpha Spectro-Polarimeter (CLASP) is (2015 planned) that Lyman line (Ly(alpha) line) polarization spectroscopic observations from the sun. His works move from early modern to modern English, from Arabized English to Arabic, from one linguistic and geographical location to another, their forms moulded and remoulded by complex cultural pressures.
