Total Hadronic Cross-Section for Photon-Photon Interactions at LEP

The total hadronic cross-section for the interaction of real photons is extracted from a measurement of the cross-section of the process e+e->e+e- + hadrons using a luminosity function for the photon flux and form factors for extrapolating to Q**2=0. The data was taken with the OPAL detector at LEP at e+e- centre-of-mass energies of 161 GeV and 172 GeV. Многолетнее изменение водного стока р. Черный Иртыш и условий его формирования (Республика Казахстан)

Выполнен статистический анализ многолетнего изменения расходов воды р. Черный Иртыш в створе с. Буран (Республика Казахстан, Восточно-Казахстанская область) и климатических условий формирования водного стока по данным гидрологических и метеорологических наблюдений за период с 1938 по 2008 гг. Выявлено уменьшение расходов воды р. Черный Иртыш в июле и августе и увеличение в марте, общее увеличение температуры атмосферного воздуха в равнинной части бассейна р. Иртыш (метеостанция г. Омск). Значимые изменения температуры воздуха горных районов не выявлены (метеостанция г. Змеиногорск)

Rights, Remembrance, and the Reconciliation of Difference

Rights in American society present a paradox-critics increasingly assert that proliferation of rights is undermining Americans\u27 sense of community, yet scholars continue to document Americans\u27 reluctance to assert formal legal rights. We explore the meaning of rights in American society by describing the intersection between the evolving civil rights of a previously excluded minority, culminating in the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, and the personal histories of two individuals who might potentially invoke or benefit from such rights. Tracing the life stories of Sara Lane and Jill Golding from childhood through adolescence to adulthood and employment, we relate the everyday relevance or irrelevance of law to important elements of the reconstructed past-the development of self-concept and of one\u27s place in relation to the social mainstream. The article, which is part of a larger project involving a more broadly based interview sample of adults with disabilities, analyzes life stories to critique familiar assumptions about the perceived conflict between rights and social relationships and about the mobilization of law. It also offers an innovative approach to the study of law and legal consciousness by involving Sara Lane and Jill Golding in the analysis of successive drafts and by including their reactions to what the authors have written

Catch and Value of Various American Crustaceans 1929-1960

Occasional reference has been made to the relative magnitude of the catch of the blue crab in waters outside Chesapeake Bay, yet comparisons are not easily made unless data are readily available. Both parallel and opposite trends in catch have been observed. These could be reflections of the amount of fishing effort or the size of the crab stocks. Comparable records of other crustacean fisheries are often of interest. Compilations are given here of data on crabs, shrimp and lobsters originally published in Fishery Industries of the United States and Fishery Statistics of the United States
