The purpose of this study is, on the one hand, to shed light on the strictly historical aspects of the subject; to which end it will offer a deeper analysis of the mediaeval texts and documents that help to understand the protagonists of Llullism in this Andalusian mould, within the context in which they lived. On the other hand, from a philosophical point of view, there is need for better knowledge of the ideas that provide the essential structure of this chansonnier, this collection of verse. Indeed it is perhaps here that it may be seen more clearly how Llullian thought is related to a lay philosophical current that favours a reasoned Christianity over other approaches, closer to the ecclesiastical sector, such as the “contemptus mundi”, asceticism or the sacerdotal way

Los frutos del proyecto artístico luliano en el Portugal medieval

The main aim of this work is to present the most relevant news about the history of Lullism (the influence of Ramon Llull’s work and thoughts) in Portugal during the 14th and 15th centuries. Among other considerations on Lullian Portuguese studies (mainly the Livro da Corte Enperial and Boosco deleitoso), the textual links between D. Duarte’s Leal Conselheiro and the Introductorium magnae artis generalis -one of the apocryphal Lullian texts- are identified. At the same time, the identification of the so-called «reymonistas» (in D. Duarte’s book) with the members of the Congregation of Secular Cannons of Saint John Evangelist or lóios is explained

Aproximación al patrimonio inmueble de matriz portuguesa presente en los PALOP (siglos XV-XVII)

The aim of this paper is to present an overview on the Portuguese-influenced heritage in the African Portuguese-spoken countries (Cape Verde, São Tomé and Príncipe, Guinea-Bissau, Angola and Mozambique). Special attention will be paid to religious (churches, chapels and convents) and military (fortresses and forts) buildings. Chronologically, the paper will cover from the first settlements at the end of XVth century to the end of XVIIth century

This article has been conceived as a reflexion point about the influence of philosopher Ramon Llull in the Anglo-Saxon area (namely England and Scotland) during the Late Middle Ages. The aim is to show the ‘state of the art’, in order to highlight possible research lines in the future. To achieve our goals, it will be presented all the data about true Lullism and, in a much summarized way, the alchemist side of medieval Llull’s thoughts, bringing them together and stablishing a general overview

Hacia un nuevo modelo de interpretación histórica: las aportaciones de las ciencias sociales al estudio y comprensión de la Historia

Antropología, Sociología y Psicología contienen un bagaje de teorías (modelos explicativos y puntos de vista interpretativos) y metodologías (maneras de acercarse al objeto de estudio), que su aplicación a los estudios históricos no sólo es innovadora sino también necesaria para poder seguir construyendo una ciencia social histórica plena e integrada en la sociedad. Este libro pretende desarrollar esas aportaciones de las otras ciencias sociales a la Historia, poniendo de relieve los avances. Mi formación como medievalista me lleva a focalizar los ejemplos en ese período histórico, pero pretende que sea útil para todos los historiadores, independientemente del período que estudien. No se pretende ser ambicioso sino útil, pues una Historia que no ayude al desarrollo de la sociedad, no es ciencia ni sirve a nadie. La reflexión, por tanto, es el objetivo principal del libro

En torno a Ramon Llull. Presencia y transmisión de su obra

El desarrollo del pensamiento de Ramon Llull (1323-1316) y la transmisión de su obra en los siglos posteriores son temas que se exponen en este volumen desde distintas perspectivas. En medio del notable trabajo que los lulistas de nuestra época hacen en favor de la herencia intelectual del polígrafo mallorquín – en Freiburg, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, o Palermo – parece quedar postergado un aspecto crucial: el significado dentro de la tradición filosófica del concepto de “lulismo”. Se tienen noticias de raimundistas, como el mismo Ramon Llull bautizó a sus incondicionales, desde el médico de la corte de Juana I de Francia y Navarra, Thomas Le Myésier, hasta Frances A. Yates, o Umberto Eco. El resultado es una enorme cantidad de maestros, manuscritos y opúsculos anónimos o atribuidos. Esta circunstancia ha generado un rompecabezas para el estudioso, el cual, a la hora de analizar textos con “posibles” características lulianas, debe recomponer su “herencia” leyendo entre líneas. Este volumen, publicado a propósito de los actos que celebran el año luliano (2015-2016), recoge las contribuciones presentadas en dos coloquios organizados por los miembros de la Sección Luliana-Comisión de autores latinos de la Société Internationale pour l’Étude de la Philosophie Médiévale (SIEPM): Palma de Mallorca en 2013 y Lisboa en 2014
