This paper analyses a virtual supervision setting (e-mail and forum) during the practicum in a pre-service secondary school mathematics teacher education program. It is a study of the authors’ own professional practice using a qualitative-interpretative approach and case studies of student teachers. The results show that the setting was significant for pre-service teachers who had a more reflective attitude, but was seen as a burden by the others. The forum enabled fruitful reflections and discussions and e-mail was mostly used for organizational matters. In the future, attention must be paid to the role of the educational supervisor in fostering participation in the forum and use of e-mail.

On a metric measure space satisfying the doubling property, we establish several optimal characterizations of Besov and Triebel-Lizorkin spaces, including a pointwise characterization. Moreover, we discuss their (non)triviality under a Poincar\'e inequality.Comment: Forum Math. (to appear). 28 page

The Discussion Forum is a feature of asynchronous learning in e-learning. It enables discussions between lecturers and students, as well as among students themselves. Unfortunately this feature is rarely used by lecturers while using e-learning. This research investigated students’ perspectives on the use of Discussion Forum in e-learning towards critical thinking skills. The aims of this research: (1) To describe students' experiences when using Discussion Forum in e-learning; (2) To describe students' perspectives on the use of Discussion Forum in e-learning, towards critical thinking skills. To collect the data for this research, qualitative methods such as interviews and document analysis were employed. The research was conducted at a university in Jambi, involving eight participants from the 2019 class of the English education study program. The findings of this research indicated that students are familiar with and have utilized Discussion Forum extensively during their e-learning journey. Notably, there are discernible signs of the application of critical thinking skills within this Discussion Forum. Almost all participants expressed their satisfaction with utilizing the Discussion Forum due to the absence of pressure and the opportunity to express their opinions without any sense of urgency. The participants affirmed that the use of Discussion Forum can be considered a valuable alternative for fostering critical thinking skills, particularly in an educational context. However, they also stated the need for significant guidance from lecturers and increased student participation to fully maximize the potential of the Discussion Forum.   Keywords: Students’ perspectives; discussion forum; e-learning; critical thinking skills.&nbsp

E-forum moderation as an element of blended learning courses for university students : a research - based study

E-forum is widely recognized to be an effective method of students' learning. Research on processes and phenomena in synchronous (SOD) and asynchronous (AOD) discussion at e-forum date back to the first years of the new Millennium and explore both the role and tasks of the moderator as well as complex preconditions of a productive and satisfying students' participation. The present article focusses on moderation of e-forum discussion and in particular, on two crucial and challenging moments in e-forum moderation: opening and closing. The co-authors of this paper have constructed their perspective on e-forum moderation upon analysis of the role of discussion in the teaching/learning process in face to face, e-learning, and b-learning settings. The final remarks and postulates follow conclusions from the original research study

    The NHS-HE Forum

This paper discusses the formation of the NHS-HE Forum by Professor Roland Rosner in 2001. It looks at the aims and objectives of the Forum and maps current progress. The second part of the paper looks particularly at the NHS-HE Procurement Group and the later JISC NHS-HE Procurement Group, which are part of the Forum. These groupings have been partially successful in conducting joint procurement activity across the NHS and HE sectors. The publication of Dr Ian Gibson?s Parliamentary Report Scientific Publications: Free for All? is seminal in progressing this joint activity. As of 1 February 2006, joint membership of the Public Library of Science has been achieved, but one joint procurement activity of commercial content has failed. Further joint procurement is planned, along with a mapping study of procurement activities and work on an Athens Account Linking Project. The library and informatics research components are coming to the fore with the use of a community-wide survey to establish the current situation and future plans for NHS-HE network connectivity and similarly the Mapping Study of Procurement Practices in the NHS and HE for content such as e-journals. This is moving to a more systematic approach than previously. The attempted joint procurement of selected journals has two joint aims: to support both research and clinical practice in the NHS and HE. In this paper, we report the ongoing developments of our first participation to the Cross-Language Evaluation Forum (CLEF) eHealth Task 1: “Multilingual Information Extraction - ICD10 coding” (Névéol et al., 2017). The task consists in labelling death certificates, in French with international standard codes. In particular, we wanted to accomplish the goal of the ‘Replication track’ of this Task which promotes the sharing of tools and the dissemination of solid, reproducible results.
