COMPOSITION CAPACITY OF SIDEWALK AFFORESTATION USING THREE DIFFERENT SIZED TREES

Planning the sidewalk afforestation composition is critical to understanding tree development over time, as well as enabling trees to deliver their many quality benefits. The objective of this work was to evaluate the number of small, medium and large-sized tree species during eight growth projection moments on the streets of Irati city– PR. Different streets with and without power grids and streets with sidewalks larger and smaller than three meters were evaluated by counting the number of suitable trees in the appropriate spaces and the average increase in crown area of Lagerstroemia indica, Handroanthus albus and Paraptadenia rigida, over 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 years of growth projection. Data was transformed to attend the normality criteria and compared by the Tukey test at 5% probability, using an experimental design in subdivided plots. There was a significant difference and interaction between species size and projection time. The large-sized species presented higher increase in crown area throughout the years, despite the smaller number of trees that could be planted. This kind of species is advised for planting as long as proper maintenance is considered for trees to provide maximum benefits

Crianças e adolescentes que vivem com HIV: proposta de cuidado participativo em saúde

Objetivo: Apresentar uma proposta de cuidado participativo em saúde embasado nos Direitos Humanos de crianças e adolescentes que vivem com HIV.Método: Estudo qualitativo com abordagem participativa que utilizou o Método Criativo Sensível. Os participantes foram 16 profissionais de saúde de três Serviços de Assistência Especializada do Sul do Brasil. Os dados foram submetidos à Análise de Discurso na corrente francesa.Resultados: A primeira categoria temática evidenciou as perspectivas a respeito do direito à participação como um novo sentido na ciência do cuidado. A segunda categoria revelou a construção de uma proposta de cuidado participativo, pelos profissionais de saúde, que poderá ser implementada na prática diária das equipes diante de seis momentos.Considerações finais: A implementação tem potencial para promover a legitimidade do direito à participação e, consequentemente, à qualificação do cuidado em saúde.Palavras-chave: Direitos humanos. Combustion Characterization in a Diffusive Gas Turbine Burner for Hydrogen-Compliant Applications

The target of net-zero emissions set by the 2015 Paris Agreement has strongly commissioned the energy production sector to promote decarbonization, renewable sources exploitation, and systems efficiency. In this framework, the utilization of hydrogen as a long-term energy carrier has great potential. This paper is concerned with the combustion characterization in a non-premixed gas turbine burner, originally designed for natural gas, when it is fed with NG-H2 blends featuring hydrogen content from 0 to 50% in volume. The final aim is to retrofit a 40 MW gas turbine. Starting from the operational data of the engine, a CFD model of the steady-state combustion process has been developed, with reference to the base load NG conditions, by reducing the fuel mass-flow rate by up to 17% to target the baseline turbine inlet temperature. When the fuel is blended with hydrogen, for a given temperature at turbine inlet, an increase in the peak temperature up to 800 K is obtained, if no countermeasures are taken. Furthermore, the flame results are more intense and closer to the injector in the case of hydrogen blending. The results of this work hint at the necessity of carefully analyzing the possible NOx compensation strategies, as well as the increased thermal stresses on the injector

Assessment of Diagnostic and Prognostic Role of Copeptin in the Clinical Setting of Sepsis

The diagnostic and prognostic usefulness of copeptin were evaluated in septic patients, as compared to procalcitonin assessment. In this single centre and observational study 105 patients were enrolled: 24 with sepsis, 25 with severe sepsis, 15 with septic shock, and 41 controls, divided in two subgroups (15 patients with gastrointestinal bleeding and 26 with suspected SIRS secondary to trauma, acute coronary syndrome, and pulmonary embolism). Biomarkers were determined at the first medical evaluation and thereafter 24, 48, and 72 hours after admission. Definitive diagnosis and in-hospital survival rates at 30 days were obtained through analysis of medical records. At entry, copeptin proved to be able to distinguish cases from controls and also sepsis group from septic shock group, while procalcitonin could distinguish also severe sepsis from septic shock group. Areas under the ROC curve for copeptin and procalcitonin were 0.845 and 0.861, respectively. Noteworthy, patients with copeptin concentrations higher than the threshold value (23.2 pmol/L), calculated from the ROC curve, at admission presented higher 30-day mortality. No significant differences were found in copeptin temporal profile among different subgroups. Copeptin showed promising diagnostic and prognostic role in the management of sepsis, together with its possible role in monitoring the response to treatment

A relevância da ração animal para o preço da carne de frango

O artigo tem o objetivo geral de apresentar o panorama estatístico dos fatores que contribuem na formação global dos preços, além do contexto mundial da produção, consumo, exportação e importação da carne de frango. O objetivo específico é identificar as variáveis que influenciam o preço global da carne de frango. A pesquisa é subdividida em análise descritiva, inferencial (Testes Paramétricos) e análise multivariada (Regressão Linear Simples e Múltipla). Os principais resultados da pesquisa indicaram que os preços do milho e da soja influenciam o preço final da carne de frango do Brasil, China e Rússia. Os testes paramétricos constataram que o preço da carne de frango no Brasil e EUA diferiram do preço na Rússia e China. Considerase, finalmente, que o incremento mundial do preço da carne de frango pode ser afetado pelo preço do milho e da soja, grãos constituintes das rações para alimentação animal. Palavras-chave: preços, agroalimentar, incertezaThe paper has the general aim of presenting the statistical picture of the factors that contribute to the overall price formation, beyond the context of global production, consumption, export and import of chicken meat. The research is divided into descriptive, inferential analysis (parametric tests) and multivariate analysis (Simple and Multiple Linear Regression). The main results of the research indicated that the prices of maise and soybeans influence the final price of chicken meat from Brazil, China and Russia. Parametric tests found that the price of chicken meat in Brazil and the USA differ in price in Russia and China. Finally, it is considered that the global rise in the price of chicken meat can be affected by the price of maise and soybean constituents of feed grains for animal feed

A tainha na barra da laguna de Tramandaí : o papel do local na dinâmica econômica da Região do Litoral Norte do Rio Grande do Sul

Este artigo tem por objetivo evidenciar a busca dos pescadores artesanais da Região do Litoral Norte em se conectarem aos mercados de proximidade em cadeias curtas de comercialização, recorrendo para tanto ao alimento e a construção de redes sociais imersas no “local". Este artigo assentasse em uma visão mais aprofundada em torno da noção de imersão, e da nova Geografia Econômica. A área delimitada para realizar este estudo, a Região do Litoral Norte do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul - Brasil, localiza-se na Microrregião de Osório e explorou-se o caso dos pescadores artesanais de tainaha. Partiuse de um viés qualitativo, e de um trabalho de caráter exploratório, entre os meses de dezembro de 2016 até abril de 2017 foram realizados as entrevistas, com questões abertas (roteiro), observação participante. Finalizando, a análise realizada revelou que alimentos alternativos podem expressar mais do que o tradição, eles têm a capacidade de ilustrar uma forma de defesa da autonomia local, e um retorno aos fundamentos do que representa a o saber fazer e a cultura. Girando em torno das muitas formas de compor a produção e o consumo decorrendo dos conhecimentos imersos no local.This article aims to highlight the search of the artisanal fishermen of the North Coast Region to connect to the markets of proximity in short chains of commercialization, resorting to both the food and the construction of social networks immersed in the "local". The 'when' matters : evidence from memory markers in the clinical continuum of Alzheimer's disease

Objective: Cognitive assessment able to detect impairments in the early neuropathological stages of Alzheimer's disease (AD) are urgently needed. The Visual Short-Term Memory Binding Task (VSTMBT) and the Free and Cued Selective Reminding Test (FCSRT) have been recommended by the Neurodegenerative Disease Working Group as promising tests to aid in the early detection of AD. In this study, we investigated their complementary value across the clinical stages of the AD continuum. Methods: 117 older adults with subjective cognitive complaint (SCC), 79 with mild cognitive impairment (MCI), 31 patients with AD dementia (ADD) and 37 cognitively unimpaired (CU) subjects, underwent assessment with the VSTMBT and the Picture version of the Spanish FCSRT. Results: After controlling for multiple comparisons, significant differences were found across groups. The VSTMBT was the only test that ‘marginally’ differentiated between CU and SCC (d = 0.47, p = 0.052). Moreover, whereas the FCSRT showed a gradient (CU = SCC) > MCI > ADD, the VSTMBT gradient was CU > SCC > (MCI = ADD) suggesting that conjunctive binding deficits assessed by the latter may be sensitive to the very early stages of the disease. Conclusions: Our results suggest that the VSTMBT and the FCSRT are sensitive to the clinical continuum of AD. Whereas the former detects changes in the early prodromal stages, the latter is more sensitive to the advanced prodromal stages of AD. These novel tests can aid in the early detection, monitor disease progression and response to treatment, and thus support drug development programs
