Malaysia is a speedy developing country and now struggling to become a developed country with a first class infrastructural network. Towards the vision, various developments have been well planned especially in building construction sectors in order to fulfill the need of society and an organization. In the hasty stream of building construction whether government, private or personal building, the facilities management planning should not be neglected. The planning of building and facilities management before, during and after a building creation must be parallel to maintain the initial condition of the building and to ensure the surrounding of the building is always in good quality, safe and healthy to all occupants or visitors of the building. Practically the construction management only focuses on before and after building construction. Otherwise the facilities management should focus on three levels that are before, during and after construction. Nowadays, many issues reflected to quality, safety and health originated from the weakness of facilities management especially building maintenance aspect such as impairment, fire, collapse, failure compliance of law and so on. Such events will threat the safety and health of the occupants and visitors of buildings. So, the quality, safety and health practices are two essential elements in building maintenance to ensure that all occupants always comfortable, safe and healthy during occupation of a building. This paper discussed a few factors that should be considered by facilities management organization to maintain a good level of quality, safe and healthy of a building. Some of the factors are developing objective, policy and strategy; implementation of planning; providing budget; procedure development, regulation and standard compliance; and human resources
Comparision of staining methods for two dimensional electrophoresis gel resolved with Puntius javanicus liver proteome
The aim of this study was to compare the various staining methods based on commassie briliant blue and silver nitrate stain for the two dimensional gel electrophoresis resolved with Puntius javanicus liver proteome. The staining methods were selected base on the previous reportabout their compatiblitywiththe mass spectrometry analysis. Sliver staining methodis known as the most sensitive method to visualize the maximum number of protein spots resolved in 2D gel but it is less sensitive(incompatible) toward mass spectrometry detection. Results of this study showed that a modifiedstaining method using colloidal coomassie blue G-250 (CCB) is roughly similarly sensitive but lower protein spot detected compared with silver staining (SS) as indicated at the number of 303±26 and 693±14of proteinresolved in both types of stained gels. The conventional methods of staining using commassie brilliant blue G-250 and R-250 only detected less number of protein spots(128±17and 78±11, respectively) compared to modified CCB staining method. As the commasie brilliant blue stain is known to be a very sensitive for mass spectrometry detection, the modified method of CCB was selected for further study on Puntius javanicus liver proteome

Irregular repetition code hybrid ARQ in wireless system
Error control consists of error detection and error correction in the communication system. The purpose of this research work is to reduce error in the wireless communication system by using the advantages of both error correction techniques which are forward error correction (FEC) and automatic repeat request (ARQ). Thus, error can be corrected without retransmission and also via retransmission(s) when needed. Combination of FEC and ARQ is known as Hybrid ARQ. In this paper, Hybrid ARQ system is designed using three components which are the irregular repetition code (IRC) as a simple code, bit-interleaved coded modulation with iterative decoding (BICM-ID) as a simple Turbo processing and ARQ. The HARQ system is enhanced by the extended mapping (EM) adopted in the mapping system. The performance of the systems is evaluated in the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN). The results show the Hybrid ARQ with extended mapping (Hybrid ARQ-EM) outperforms Hybrid ARQ with standard mapping (Hybrid ARQ-SM). Hybrid ARQ-EM achieves low bit error rate BER (10-5) at low signal-to-noise ratio SNR which only 3.03dB close to the theoretical limit. The proposed system Hybrid ARQ-EM achieves 52 percent gain enhancement of SNR gap from the theoretical limit compared to Hybrid ARQ-SM. Hybrid ARQ-EM gives better performance although in worse channel condition
Antioxidative properties and proximate analysis of spent coffee ground (SCG) extracted using ultrasonic-methanol assisted technique as a potential functional food ingredient
Spent coffee ground (SCG) produced in tons by restaurants and cafeterias and domestic consumers is a potentially good source of natural antioxidants because it contains substantial amounts of bioactive compounds. The purpose of this study was to identify the physicochemical and antioxidant properties of three different types of spent coffee ground (SCG), namely Robusta, Arabica and Liberica extracted using ultra-sonicmethanol assisted technique. DPPH, FTC, TBA, total phenolic content (TPC) and total flavonoid content (TFC) were used to measure the antioxidant properties. Robusta SCG exhibited the highest DPPH inhibition 41.63±0.04%), FTC (60.42±0.03%) and TBA analysis (73.09±0.08%). The total phenolic compounds in the samples varied widely ranging from 18.94±0.06 to 26.23±0.86 mg GAE/g sample, with Robusta SCG showing the highest value among the three, while Arabica SCG depicted the highest amount total
flavonoid content (47.62±0.05 to 56.20±0.08). A strong correlation between antioxidant activity and total phenolic content were observed in this study. Compared to Arabica and
Liberica SCGs expended, Robusta SCG demonstrated a stronger beneficial effect against lipid peroxidation. This study reveals that SCGs can be regarded as a new useful source of
natural antioxidant with a view to increasing the use of antioxidant synthetics by using the ingredient of agro-industrial residues in food production especially ingredients for functional food
Nutritional Compositions in the Muscle of Yellow Puffer Fish, Xenopterus naritus (Richardson, 1848) from Kg. Manggut and Kabong, Sarawak, Malaysia
This study is to report the proximate compositions in the muscles of yellow puffer fish, Xenopterus naritus which was collected from Kg. Manggut and Kabong, Sarawak between February and July 2013. The internal organs of 20 specimens of X. naritus from Kg. Manggut and Kabong, respectively were removed by local residence that possess skills and experiences with the preparation of yellow puffer fish. In general, the moisture contents were ranging between 75.2% and 80.6%. In the present study, X. naritus from Kabong showed higher crude protein contents (88.2% dry weight) than the same species from Kg. Manggut (87.9% dry weight) but not significantly different (p>0.05). However, X. naritus from Kg. Manggut demonstrated a significantly higher (p<0.05) of crude fat contents (0.49% dry weight), crude fibre contents (0.44% dry weight) and ash contents (5.48% dry weight) compared to X. naritus from Kabong which were 0.47%, 0.25% and 5.08% dry weight, respectively. This study shows that the yellow puffer fish could be considered as an alternative source of protein for human consumption. Further, this is the first report on nutritional compositions in edible yellow puffer fish from Sarawak
MPEG-4 video transmission using distributed TDMA MAC protocol over IEEE 802.15.4 wireless technology
The issues of green technology nowadays give an inspiration to the researcher to make all the future design to be energy efficient. Medium Access Control (MAC) layer is the most effective layer to provide energy efficient due to its ability to control the physical radio directly. One of the important applications in the future is a video transmission that can be transmitted with low-cost and low power consumption. MPEG-4 is one of the international standards for moving video. MPEG-4 provide better compression and primarily design at low bit rate communication. In order to achieve good quality for video application, the design at MAC layer must be strong. Therefore, to increase the performance of the MPEG-4 in IEEE 802.15.4, in this paper we propose a cross layer design between MAC layer and Application layer. A priority queue will be implemented at MAC scheduling depends on the level of frame important in MPEG-4 format frame. A distributed Time division Multiple Access (TDMA) will be used for MAC protocol to provide reliable data transmission for high priority frame
