Thermomechanical Behavior of the HL-LHC 11 Tesla Nb3Sn Magnet Coil Constituents during Reaction Heat Treatment
The knowledge of the temperature induced changes of the superconductor
volume, and of the thermo-mechanical behaviour of the different coil and
tooling materials is required for predicting the coil geometry and the stress
distribution in the coil after the Nb3Sn reaction heat treatment. In the
present study we have measured the Young's and shear moduli of the HL-LHC 11 T
Nb3Sn dipole magnet coil and reaction tool constituents during in situ heat
cycles with the dynamic resonance method. The thermal expansion behaviours of
the coil components and of a free standing Nb3Sn wire were compared based on

Fcgamma receptor-mediated phagocytosis in macrophages lacking the Src family tyrosine kinases Hck, Fgr, and Lyn.
Macrophage Fcgamma receptors (FcgammaRs) mediate the uptake and destruction of antibody-coated viruses, bacteria, and parasites. We examined FcgammaR signaling and phagocytic function in bone marrow-derived macrophages from mutant mice lacking the major Src family kinases expressed in these cells, Hck, Fgr, and Lyn. Many FcgammaR-induced functional responses and signaling events were diminished or delayed in these macrophages, including immunoglobulin (Ig)G-coated erythrocyte phagocytosis, respiratory burst, actin cup formation, and activation of Syk, phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase, and extracellular signal-regulated kinases 1 and 2. Significant reduction of IgG-dependent phagocytosis was not seen in hck(-)(/)-fgr(-)(/)- or lyn(-)(/)- cells, although the single mutant lyn(-)(/)- macrophages did manifest signaling defects. Thus, Src family kinases clearly have roles in two events leading to FcgammaR-mediated phagocytosis, one involving initiation of actin polymerization and the second involving activation of Syk and subsequent internalization. Since FcgammaR-mediated phagocytosis did occur at modest levels in a delayed fashion in triple mutant macrophages, these Src family kinases are not absolutely required for uptake of IgG-opsonized particles
The Cosmological Constant and Advanced Gravitational Wave Detectors
Interferometric gravitational wave detectors could measure the frequency
sweep of a binary inspiral [characterized by its chirp mass] to high accuracy.
The observed chirp mass is the intrinsic chirp mass of the binary source
multiplied by , where is the redshift of the source. Assuming a
non-zero cosmological constant, we compute the expected redshift distribution
of observed events for an advanced LIGO detector. We find that the redshift
distribution has a robust and sizable dependence on the cosmological constant;
the data from advanced LIGO detectors could provide an independent measurement

Pneumococcal Serotype-Specific Antibodies Persist through Early Childhood after Infant Immunization: Follow-Up from a Randomized Controlled Trial
Background: In a previous UK multi-center randomized study 278 children received three doses of 7-valent (PCV-7) or 13-
valent (PCV-13) pneumococcal conjugate vaccine at 2, 4 and 12 months of age. At 13 months of age, most of these children had pneumococcal serotype-specific IgG concentrations 8.
Methods: Children who had participated in the original study were enrolled again at 3.5 years of age. Persistence of immunity following infant immunization with either PCV-7 or PCV-13 and the immune response to a PCV-13 booster at preschool age were investigated.
Results: In total, 108 children were followed-up to the age of 3.5 years and received a PCV-13 booster at this age. At least 76% of children who received PCV-7 or PCV-13 in infancy retained serotype-specific IgG concentrations 0.35 mg/ml against each of 4/6 of the additional PCV-13 serotypes; for serotypes 1 and 3 this proportion was 45% and 52%. In the PCV-7 group these percentages were significantly lower for serotypes 1, 5 and 7F. A pre-school PCV-13 booster was highly immunogenic and resulted in low rates of local and systemic adverse effects.
Conclusion: Despite some decline in antibody from 13 months of age, these data suggest that a majority of pre-school
children maintain protective serotype-specific antibody concentrations following conjugate vaccination at 2, 4 and 12 months of age.

Learning clinical anatomy
SUMMARY
This article places the student at the center of their own learning experience. It draws together research to enable us to put forward a theoretical framework of best practice for student learning of clinical anatomy in a modern medical curricula. Anatomical knowledge involves both propositional knowledge and non-technical knowledge. For knowledge to be gained it must be contextualized and the content matter engaged with in a way that creates meaning for the students. From a neuroanatomical basis, this involves memory processing at a synaptic level within the circuitry of the hippocampus. It is important to recognize learners as individuals with their own personality traits and spatial ability. Both of which have been shown to influence the learning of anatomy. Students can vary the way they go about learning, they may utilize a surface, deep and/or strategic learning approach. It is quite possible that each student’s approach will differ depending on their personal experience. Approach will also vary at different points of their learning journey, because in higher education, students are free to engage in a wide range of learning activities. At some point in the future students may need to relearn or reconfigured their knowledge because the initial route to understanding is superseded by either a greater need or a more sophisticated line of reasoning, for example, knowledge can be challenged via more complex clinical scenarios. Knowledge consolidation is the next stage for students/trainees and this involves embedding the restructured learning and using it in practice. This stage will vary in time depending on the content it may occur during education or many years later. Anatomy learning is a personalized journey for the individuals. However, it is the role of the educators to aid learners in the development of a education framework that makes their learning effective, meaningful and stimulating
In Chains? Automotive Suppliers and Their Product Development Activities
A conceptual framework is developed and tested in which supplier downstream position in the supply chain, supplier innovation strategy and customer development commitment are seen as the antecedents of supplier product development activity. Using partial least squares (PLS), we analyze the results of a survey of 161 Swedish automotive suppliers and test a series of nested models to test our hypotheses. We demonstrate that the position of the supplier in the supply chain and its strategic focus on innovation not only have a direct impact on (actual) supplier product development activity, but that there is also an interaction effect, implying that the effects of strategy are contingent on the supplier???s supply chain position. Additionally, we find that customer development commitment does not have any significant direct effect on supplier product development activities, but that this relation is fully mediated by supplier innovation strategy. The meaning of the findings for developing a more extensive conceptual framework for understanding supplier product development activities, some managerial implications, and future research are discussed

The article explores how both qualitative and quantitative data can be analysed and recommends top tips including: Identify your research questions and theoretical framework. Map out how you are going to answer your research questions. Consider collaborating with like-minded researchers in other countries:

journal and suggestions for peer review, taking into consideration individuals expertise and

Deconvolving the information from an imperfect spherical gravitational wave antenna
We have studied the effects of imperfections in spherical gravitational wave
antenna on our ability to properly interpret the data it will produce. The
results of a numerical simulation are reported that quantitatively describe the
systematic errors resulting from imperfections in various components of the
antenna. In addition, the results of measurements on a room-temperature
prototype are presented that verify it is possible to accurately deconvolve the
