Descubrimiento automático de mappings en un caso de uso real con altas exigencias de certeza

    Get PDF

OEGMerge: a case-based model for merging ontologies

    Get PDF
No long ago ontology merging was a necessary activity, however, the current methods used in ontology merging present neither detailed cases nor an accurate formalization. For validating these methods, it is convenient to have a case list as complete as possible. In this paper we present the OEGMerge model, developed from the OEG (Ontological Engineering Group at UPM) experience, which describes precisely the merging casuistic and the actions to carry out in each case. In this first approach, the model covers only the taxonomy of concepts, attributes and relations

Executive Summary: This report provides information about the current state of the art in Semantic Web research in Spain. The contents of this report are mainly based on the information that was gathered during the workshop "Ontologías y Web Semántica 2005", which was held in Santiago de Compostela in November 2005, and the contributions that members from most of the research groups working in Semantic-Webrelated areas in Spain have provided. The field of Semantic Web is quite widespread in Spain, with important groups developing methods, techniques and tools to support different areas: Ontological Engineering, semantic extraction and annotation from heterogeneous sources, semantic search engines, personalisation and Semantic Web Services

Formalization of gene regulation knowledge using ontologies and gene ontology causal activity models

    Get PDF
Gene regulation computational research requires handling and integrating large amounts of heterogeneous data. The Gene Ontology has demonstrated that ontologies play a fundamental role in biological data interoperability and integration. Ontologies help to express data and knowledge in a machine processable way, which enables complex querying and advanced exploitation of distributed data. Contributing to improve data interoperability in gene regulation is a major objective of the GREEKC Consortium, which aims to develop a standardized gene regulation knowledge commons. GREEKC proposes the use of ontologies and semantic tools for developing interoperable gene regulation knowledge models, which should support data annotation. In this work, we study how such knowledge models can be generated from cartoons of gene regulation scenarios. The proposed method consists of generating descriptions in natural language of the cartoons; extracting the entities from the texts; finding those entities in existing ontologies to reuse as much content as possible, especially from well known and maintained ontologies such as the Gene Ontology, the Sequence Ontology, the Relations Ontology and ChEBI; and implementation of the knowledge models. The models have been implemented using Protégé, a general ontology editor, and Noctua, the tool developed by the Gene Ontology Consortium for the development of causal activity models to capture more comprehensive annotations of genes and link their activities in a causal framework for Gene Ontology Annotations. We applied the method to two gene regulation scenarios and illustrate how to apply the models generated to support the annotation of data from research articles

This project aims at creating a network of distributed interoperable semantic services for building more complex ones. These services will be available in semantic Web service libraries, so that they can be invoked by other systems (e.g., semantic portals, software agents, etc.). Thus, to accomplish this objective, the project proposes: a) To create specific technology for developing and composing Semantic Web Services. b) To migrate the WebODE ontology development workbench to this new distributed interoperable semantic service architecture. c) To develop new semantic services (ontology learning, ontology mappings, incremental ontology evaluation, and ontology evolution). d) To develop technological support that eases semantic portal interoperability, using Web services and Semantic Web Services. The project results will be open source, so as to improve their technological transfer. The quality of these results is ensured by a benchmarking process. Keywords: Ontologies and Semantic We

ADHD symptomatology in eating disorders : a secondary psychopathological measure of severity?

    Get PDF
Background: Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) has commonly been described in psychiatric disorders. Although several studies have found positive associations between abnormal eating patterns during childhood and ADHD, there is a lack of studies on ADHD and Eating Disorders (ED). The aims of this exploratory study were 1) to assess the ADHD symptoms level in ED and to ascertain whether there are differences among ED subtypes; 2) to analyze whether the presence of ADHD symptoms is associated with more severe eating disorder symptoms and greater general psychopathology; and 3) to assess whether the ADHD symptoms level is associated with specific temperament and character traits. Methods: 191 female ED patients were included. Assessment was carried out with the EDI-2, ASRS-v1.1, the SCL-90-R and the TCI-R. Results: The ADHD symptoms level was similar in bulimia, eating disorder not otherwise specified and binge eating subtypes, and lower in anorexic patients. Obsessiveness and Hostility were significantly positively associated with ADHD symptoms. A path model showed that ADHD was associated with high Novelty Seeking and low Self-Directedness, whereas ED severity was influenced by ADHD severity and low Self-Directedness. Conclusions: Bingeing/purging ED subtypes have a high ADHD symptoms level, also related with more severe eating, general and personality psychopathology

Biochemical, physiological, and performance response of a functional watermelon juice enriched in L-citrulline during a half-marathon race

    Get PDF
Background: Watermelon is a rich natural source of l-citrulline. This non-essential amino acid increases exercise performance. Objective: Evaluate the effect of Fashion watermelon juice enriched in l-citrulline (CWJ) (3.45 g per 500 mL) in physical performance and biochemical markers after a half-marathon race. Design: A randomised, double blind, crossover design where 2 h after drinking 500 mL of CWJ or placebo (PLA, beverage without l-citrulline) amateur male runners performed two half-marathon races. Jump height, heart rate and rating of perceived exertion were evaluated before and after the races. Moreover, muscle soreness and plasma markers of muscle damage and metabolism were evaluated for 72 h after the races. Results: Muscle soreness perception was significantly lower from 24 to 72 h after the race with CWJ beverage. Immediately after the races, runners under CWJ condition showed plasma lactate and glucose concentrations significantly lower and higher lactate dehydrogenase and l-arginine concentration than runners under PLA. A maintenance of jump heights after the races under CWJ supplementation was found, decreasing significantly with PLA. Conclusion: A single Fashion watermelon juice enriched in l-citrulline dose diminished muscle soreness perception from 24 to 72 h after the race and maintained lower concentrations of plasma lactate after an exhausting exercise.Actividad Física y Deport
