Effect of Cyclic Stresses below the Endurance Limit on the Fatigue Life of 40Cr Steel

    No full text
The effect of cyclic stresses below the endurance limit on the fatigue life of 40Cr medium-strength carbon steel is studied. Conventional constant-amplitude cyclic tests and specially designed variableamplitude ones are conducted under torsional loading at the stress ratio R = 0.1. The results show that the strengthening effect of cyclic stresses below the endurance limit can be reached if they are applied prior to the exceeding ones. Moreover, the stress amplitude, number of cycles and load sequence are found to be the three major strengthening effect-controlling factors.Π˜Π·ΡƒΡ‡Π΅Π½ΠΎ влияниС цикличСских напряТСний Π½ΠΈΠΆΠ΅ ΠΏΡ€Π΅Π΄Π΅Π»Π° выносливости Π½Π° ΡƒΡΡ‚Π°Π»ΠΎΡΡ‚Π½ΡƒΡŽ Π΄ΠΎΠ»Π³ΠΎΠ²Π΅Ρ‡Π½ΠΎΡΡ‚ΡŒ углСродистой стали срСднСй прочности 40Cr. X-ray diffraction measurements of the c-axis Debye-Waller factors of YBa2Cu3O7 and HgBa2CaCu2O6

We report the first application of x-rays to the measurement of the temperature dependent Bragg peak intensities to obtain Debye-Waller factors on high-temperature superconductors. Intensities of (0,0,l) peaks of YBa2Cu3O7 and HgBa2CaCu2O6 thin films are measured to obtain the c-axis Debye-Waller factors. While lattice constant and some Debye-Waller factor measurements on high Tc superconductors show anomalies at the transition temperature, our measurements by x-ray diffraction show a smooth transition of the c-axis Debye-Waller factors through Tc_c. This suggests that the dynamic displacements of the heavy elements along the c-axis direction in these compounds do not have anomalies at Tc. This method in combination with measurements by other techniques will give more details concerning dynamics of the lattice.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figures. Search for the Lepton Flavor Violation Processes J/Οˆβ†’J/\psi \to ΞΌΟ„\mu\tau and eΟ„e\tau

The lepton flavor violation processes J/Οˆβ†’ΞΌΟ„J/\psi \to \mu\tau and eΟ„e\tau are searched for using a sample of 5.8Γ—107\times 10^7 J/ψJ/\psi events collected with the BESII detector. Zero and one candidate events, consistent with the estimated background, are observed in J/Οˆβ†’ΞΌΟ„,Ο„β†’eΞ½Λ‰eΞ½Ο„J/\psi \to \mu\tau, \tau\to e\bar\nu_e\nu_{\tau} and J/Οˆβ†’eΟ„,Ο„β†’ΞΌΞ½Λ‰ΞΌΞ½Ο„J/\psi\to e\tau, \tau\to\mu\bar\nu_{\mu}\nu_{\tau} decays, respectively. Upper limits on the branching ratios are determined to be Br(J/Οˆβ†’ΞΌΟ„)<2.0Γ—10βˆ’6Br(J/\psi\to\mu\tau)<2.0 \times 10^{-6} and Br(J/Οˆβ†’eΟ„)<8.3Γ—10βˆ’6Br(J/\psi \to e\tau) < 8.3 \times10^{-6} at the 90% confidence level (C.L.).Comment: 9 pages, 2 figure

By analyzing the data sets of 17.3, 6.5 and 1.0 pbβˆ’1^{-1} taken, respectively, at s=3.773\sqrt s= 3.773, 3.650 and 3.6648 GeV with the BES-II detector at the BEPC collider, we measure the observed cross sections for e+eβˆ’β†’Ο€+Ο€βˆ’Ο€0Ο€0e^+e^-\to \pi^+\pi^-\pi^0\pi^0, K+Kβˆ’Ο€0Ο€0K^+K^-\pi^0\pi^0, 2(Ο€+Ο€βˆ’Ο€0)2(\pi^+\pi^-\pi^0), K+Kβˆ’Ο€+Ο€βˆ’Ο€0Ο€0K^+K^-\pi^+\pi^-\pi^0\pi^0 and 3(Ο€+Ο€βˆ’)Ο€0Ο€03(\pi^+\pi^-)\pi^0\pi^0 at the three energy points. Based on these cross sections we set the upper limits on the observed cross sections and the branching fractions for ψ(3770)\psi(3770) decay into these final states at 90% C.L..Comment: 7 pages, 2 figure

    Using 5.8Γ—107J/ψ5.8 \times 10^7 J/\psi events collected in the BESII detector, the radiative decay J/Οˆβ†’Ξ³Ο•Ο•β†’Ξ³K+Kβˆ’KS0KL0J/\psi \to \gamma \phi \phi \to \gamma K^+ K^- K^0_S K^0_L is studied. The ϕϕ\phi\phi invariant mass distribution exhibits a near-threshold enhancement that peaks around 2.24 GeV/c2c^{2}. A partial wave analysis shows that the structure is dominated by a 0βˆ’+0^{-+} state (Ξ·(2225)\eta(2225)) with a mass of 2.24βˆ’0.02+0.03βˆ’0.02+0.032.24^{+0.03}_{-0.02}{}^{+0.03}_{-0.02} GeV/c2c^{2} and a width of 0.19Β±0.03βˆ’0.04+0.060.19 \pm 0.03^{+0.06}_{-0.04} GeV/c2c^{2}. The product branching fraction is: Br(J/Οˆβ†’Ξ³Ξ·(2225))β‹…Br(Ξ·(2225)→ϕϕ)=(4.4Β±0.4Β±0.8)Γ—10βˆ’4Br(J/\psi \to \gamma \eta(2225))\cdot Br(\eta(2225)\to \phi\phi) = (4.4 \pm 0.4 \pm 0.8)\times 10^{-4}.Comment: 11 pages, 4 figures. corrected proof for journa
