Marine and Limnic Archaeological Prospection with Geoelectrics and Ground-Penetrating Radar
In recent years, near-surface geophysical prospection of archaeological issues such as harbours in the littoral zone has gained increasing interest. So far, the two methods geoelectrics and ground-penetrating radar (GPR) have hardly been used for archaeological prospection in littoral zones. In addition, there is a lack of knowledge on the physical parameters of the materials to be prospected, including water-saturated, possibly weathered wood. In my thesis, I systematically investigate possible areas of application of the methods geoelectrics and GPR in the littoral zone. I investigate the methods’ limitations and conditions under which they can be used individually or as a complementary method to seismics. The targeted prospection of the material wood with the methods is treated in detail. First, application possibilities of geoelectrics were investigated. The method is suitable to resolve archaeological stone settings and groundwater upwelling areas. For survey measurements and geological issues, towed, floating electrode arrays are well suited. Submerged electrodes should be used for archaeological prospection. Next, the characteristics of GPR in water under field conditions were analysed. The methods’ penetration depth is almost independent of the antenna frequency and the presence of organic material in the water. An antenna array would have to be used for areal archaeological prospection with centimetre accuracy. The topic of the third part is “wood”. In order to evaluate possibilities of prospecting archaeological wooden objects such as shipwrecks with GPR and geoelectrics, the physical parameters of wood were determined experimentally and material contrasts were calculated. Both methods are suitable for the prospecting of wood in freshwater. The accurate evaluation of the methods in water environments allows them to be used in the future for well-defined research issues
Mechanical Properties of Fiber-Reinforced Concrete Using Composite Binders
This paper investigates the creation of high-density impermeable concrete. The effect of the “cement, fly ash, and limestone” composite binders obtained by joint grinding with superplasticizer in the varioplanetary mill on the process of structure formation was studied. Compaction of structure on micro- and nanoscale levels was characterized by different techniques: X-ray diffraction, DTA-TGA, and electron microscopy. Results showed that the grinding of active mineral supplements allows crystallization centers to be created by ash particles as a result of the binding of Ca(OH)2 during hardening alite, which intensifies the clinker minerals hydration process; the presence of fine grains limestone also leads to the hydrocarboaluminates calcium formation. The relation between cement stone neoplasms composition as well as fibrous concrete porosity and permeability of composite at nanoscale level for use of composite binders with polydispersed mineral supplements was revealed. The results are of potential importance in developing the wide range of fine-grained fiber-reinforced concrete with a compressive strength more than 100 MPa, with low permeability under actual operating conditions
The Parameters of Composite Binders of Technogenic Waste from Russian Far East
The paper considers the process optimization of structure of cement stone due to the use of industrial waste, which allows to increase the strength characteristics of the binders. Proposed composite binders, obtained by co-grinding of cement, hyper plasticizer, fly ash and limestone crushing screenings. The connection of the seal structure of the composite binder with increasing hydration activity of the fine fraction of the mineral filler. The increased strength characteristics developed binders provided due to their high specific surface area with mechanic and chemically activated surface layers of filler grains and cement
Proyecto posideológico y el teatro de grupo en Latinoamérica
In this essay I discuss, in the context of postmodern utopias and market economy, the contemporary Latin American theatre that decides not to follow the dominant models. I propose to use the term "group theatre" to refer to the phenomenon linked to the project of modernity. I present the current trends shown by theatre groups from different countries of Latin America by means of a selective survey of key examples.
A Multidimensional Approach to Succession in Family Firms: The Case of Denmark
In family firms succession is often defined as the transition of leadership and ownership between a family member and the next generation. Traditionally research on succession in family firms has focused on the family member as they enter the leadership role (i.e., how family firms successfully transition to the next generation). From our point of view this is a one-dimensional perspective of succession with a focus on the family or the non-family member that will take over the leadership role. However, we found evidence in Danish family business research that such an approach is restrictive in a way that concern for the family is not the only consideration for organizational development in the succession process. Building on conflict management literature, we examine the succession process from a multi-dimensional approach where concern for the family is one dimension, and a second dimension of concern for others is added. Based on this discussion, we present a multi-dimensional framework for succession planning and its implications for understanding succession processes. To illustrate our framework, case studies from Danish firms are presented and investigated with regard to their concern for others in succession planning and decision making
