MAPS FOR TOURIST PURPOSES: THE USE OF REMOTE IMAGERY

Nel contributo sono presentati brevemente alcuni esempi di cartografia dedicata ad un uso turistico. Le carte per il turismo, la cui scala è generalmente abbastanza grande, sono tradizionalmente delle carte topografiche arricchite con tematismi dedicati. Recentemente si sono diffuse delle carte turistiche più innovative, realizzate sulla base di immagini remote. Vengono pertanto analizzate le caratteristiche e le differenze di alcune carte turistiche costruite in tal modo, con particolare attenzione ai possibili errori o imprecisioni che possono verificarsi, soprattutto qualora la costruzione di tali carte sia fatta in ambiente GIS.In this paper are given some short instances of tourist maps.Tourist maps are generally drawn at a large scale and they often are topographic maps with tourist elements.Recently a large number of more innovative tourist maps has been produced. These ones are drawn on the base of remote imagery. The principal features and the main differences of some remote imagery tourist maps are analyzed. This analysis has been made with particular care for the errors due to the construction of the map in a GIS environment

EXPANSÃO DOS CURSOS SUPERIORES DE TECNOLOGIA

Os Cursos Superiores de Tecnologia no Brasil, tanto no setor público como no privado, tiveram nos últimos anos uma expressiva expansão. Assim, esse trabalho se origina do estudo dos Cursos Superiores de Tecnologia com o objetivo principal de apresentar sua expansão no período pós LDB. O estudo inicia com a apresentação do histórico dessa modalidade de ensino, buscando apresentar seu surgimento e legislações pertinentes. Posteriormente, é feita uma análise, através dos dados do Instituto Nacional de Estudos e Pesquisas Educacionais Anísio Teixeira - INEP, dos percentuais de expansão baseados em seis variáveis: cursos, vagas, inscritos, ingressos, matriculas e concluintes, separando os dados por categoria administrativa (público e privado) e, em alguns casos, por organização acadêmica. Tecnologia Webmapping per la diffusione della cartografia: alcune riflessioni

Nell\u2019articolo si presentano alcuni aspetti tecnico/cartografici legati ad applicazioni di cartografia interattiva molto diffuse oggi sul Web (Web Map Mashup - WMM). I punti di forza di queste applicazioni sono molti. Sono intuitive, in continua evoluzione tecnica, visualizzabili da una pletora di dispositivi diversi collegati alla rete. Sono uno strumento molto efficace per la diffusione delle mappe. Viene introdotta la tecnologia che permette il funzionamento delle WMM. Viene poi approfondito il sistema di coordinate utilizzato da questo tipo di applicazioni (conosciuto come: \u201cWeb Mercator\u201d), evidenziandone alcuni limiti

The Per Se Rule: Alive and Well and Living in Catalano

The antitrust plaintiff\u27s favorite rule of liability—the per se rule—has through the years served as the cornerstone of substantive analysis under Section 1 of the Sherman Act. Recently, however, the Rule has been rumored to be undergoing hard times in the courts. Such a development, if true, would be of no mean significance to the Antitrust Division of the United States Department of Justice. The scope and application of the per se rule to a given set of facts frequently is the focus of many of the cases with which the Division deals on a day to day basis. The propriety of characterizing a course of conduct as subject to per se liability often determines whether or not a case is appropriate for criminal prosecution. Moreover, even in the civil area, the scope of the per se rule becomes a key factor in structuring the government\u27s approach to litigation. After the change in membership of the Supreme Court during the days of Chief Justice Warren, and particularly after the Supreme Court\u27s opinions in Continental T. V., Inc. v. GTE Sylvania, Inc., and, more recently, Broadcast Music, Inc. v. Columbia Broadcasting Systems, Inc., many antitrust conferences began predicting the imminent erosion and demise of the per se rule as a tool of antitrust analysis. Many lawyers around the country began, depending upon their perspective, either gleefully or despondently anticipating the ultimate narrowing and perhaps judicial repeal of the per se rule in all but the most extreme cases of anticompetitive purpose and effect. To paraphrase Mark Twain, these reports of death of the per se rule have been grossly exaggerated. Indeed, this fundamental tool of Sherman Act analysis continues to endure and even flourish

Analisi esplorative delle preferenze dei visitatori di una manifestazione culturale in uno spazio urbano utilizzando il Balloon mapping e la statistica spaziale. Il caso di Trieste Next

Viene presentata una prima analisi esplorativa di alcune fotografie riprese da un pallone aerostatico, utilizzando la statistica spaziale (point pattern analysis). L’obiettivo è stato quello di evidenziare alcune zone di aggregazione delle persone in uno spazio pubblico cittadino, in occasione di una manifestazione a carattere scientifico/culturale, Trieste Next tenutasi a Trieste, tra il 26 ed il 28 settembre 2014. Tra le diverse attività proposte dall’Università di Trieste nel villaggio scientifico di Piazza Unità d’Italia, è stata allestita una postazione esterna ai tendoni, dedicata al Balloon mapping, per la quale si sono organizzati alcuni voli dimostrativi per i visitatori. Alcuni fotogrammi dalle riprese effettuate sono stati elaborati in modo da ricavarne dei layer vettoriali, riportanti le posizioni dei visitatori in diversi momenti tra gli stand della manifestazione. Da questi layer vettoriali sono state ricavate delle mappe di densità, utilizzando il metodo statistico denominato Kernel Density Estimation (KDE). I vari layer raster di densità sono stati aggregati mediante somma algebrica dei valori dei pixel di ciascun layer. Il risultato è stato quello di ottenere una mappa di sintesi delle aree preferite dai visitatori nel villaggio, che ha evidenziato la presenza alcune aree “calde” (hot spots).It is presented an exploratory analysis made on some remote sensed images taken from a helium filled balloon, using spatial statistics (point pattern analysis). Aim of this paper has been highlighting some aggregation areas in a town square during a scientific/cultural event like Trieste Next (Trieste, September 26th-28th, 2014). Among the different activities organized by the local University in the so called “scientific village” of Unity square, an open air station has been set up. From this Balloon mapping station several demonstration flights have been arranged. Among the many pictures taken during the flights, some of them have been elaborated, in order to build a series of vector layers, showing the Trieste Next visitors at certain times. Applying the Kernel Density Estimation (KDE) statistic method to this vector layers we have produced some visitor density maps in the Next scientific village of Unity square. Further, the density layers have been aggregated in order to build a synthesis map of the visitor preferred areas in the village (the so called “hot spots”)
