Bifurcation Boundary Conditions for Switching DC-DC Converters Under Constant On-Time Control
Sampled-data analysis and harmonic balance analysis are applied to analyze
switching DC-DC converters under constant on-time control. Design-oriented
boundary conditions for the period-doubling bifurcation and the saddle-node
bifurcation are derived. The required ramp slope to avoid the bifurcations and
the assigned pole locations associated with the ramp are also derived. The
derived boundary conditions are more general and accurate than those recently
obtained. Those recently obtained boundary conditions become special cases
under the general modeling approach presented in this paper. Different analyses
give different perspectives on the system dynamics and complement each other.
Under the sampled-data analysis, the boundary conditions are expressed in terms
of signal slopes and the ramp slope. Under the harmonic balance analysis, the
boundary conditions are expressed in terms of signal harmonics. The derived
boundary conditions are useful for a designer to design a converter to avoid
the occurrence of the period-doubling bifurcation and the saddle-node

Mediastinal Schwannoma Diagnosed by Endoscopic Ultrasonography-Guided Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology
Schwannoma is the most common neurogenic tumor that is derived from the peripheral nerve sheath. There are no specific serologic markers or characteristic imaging abnormalities associated with schwannoma. Tissue diagnosis and immunohistochemistry are required to diagnose this lesion. We describe a 65-year-old male with a finding of three mass lesions in the superior and middle mediastinum on computed tomography of the chest. The largest lesion measured 4.6 × 5 cm. The patient subsequently underwent endoscopic ultrasonography-guided fine needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) of the lesion and cytology was consistent with spindle cell neoplasm. Immunohistochemical staining of the cytologic specimen was positive for S-100 and negative for pan-cytokeratin, CD34, CD117, calcitonin, smooth muscle actin and desmin. These findings were consistent with schwannoma. This is the second reported case of a mediastinal schwannoma diagnosed by EUS-FNA
Local antiferromagnetic exchange and collaborative Fermi surface as key ingredients of high temperature superconductors
Cuprates, ferropnictides and ferrochalcogenides are three classes of
unconventional high-temperature superconductors, who share similar phase
diagrams in which superconductivity develops after a magnetic order is
suppressed, suggesting a strong interplay between superconductivity and
magnetism, although the exact picture of this interplay remains elusive. Here
we show that there is a direct bridge connecting antiferromagnetic exchange
interactions determined in the parent compounds of these materials to the
superconducting gap functions observed in the corresponding superconducting
materials. High superconducting transition temperature is achieved when the
Fermi surface topology matches the form factor of the pairing symmetry favored
by local magnetic exchange interactions. Our result offers a principle guide to

Understanding online political networks: The case of the far-right and far-left in Greece

We explore dynamics inside and between the far right and the far left, as well as the relation between the structure of the network and sentiment. The 2015 Greek political context offers a unique opportunity to investigate political communication in times of political intensity and crisis. Phase Separation and Magnetic Order in K-doped Iron Selenide Superconductor
Alkali-doped iron selenide is the latest member of high Tc superconductor
family, and its peculiar characters have immediately attracted extensive
attention. We prepared high-quality potassium-doped iron selenide (KxFe2-ySe2)
thin films by molecular beam epitaxy and unambiguously demonstrated the
existence of phase separation, which is currently under debate, in this
material using scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy. The
stoichiometric superconducting phase KFe2Se2 contains no iron vacancies, while
the insulating phase has a \surd5\times\surd5 vacancy order. The iron vacancies
are shown always destructive to superconductivity in KFe2Se2. Our study on the
subgap bound states induced by the iron vacancies further reveals a
magnetically-related bipartite order in the superconducting phase. These
findings not only solve the existing controversies in the atomic and electronic
structures in KxFe2-ySe2, but also provide valuable information on
understanding the superconductivity and its interplay with magnetism in
iron-based superconductors
Sign-reversal of the in-plane resistivity anisotropy in hole-doped iron pnictides
The in-plane anisotropy of the electrical resistivity across the coupled
orthorhombic and magnetic transitions of the iron pnictides has been
extensively studied in the parent and electron-doped compounds. All these
studies universally show that the resistivity across the long
orthorhombic axis - along which the spins couple antiferromagnetically
below the magnetic transition temperature - is smaller than the resistivity
of the short orthorhombic axis , i. e. .
Here we report that in the hole-doped compounds
BaKFeAs, as the doping level increases, the
resistivity anisotropy initially becomes vanishingly small, and eventually
changes sign for sufficiently large doping, i. e. . This
observation is in agreement with a recent theoretical prediction that considers
the anisotropic scattering of electrons by spin-fluctuations in the

Supervised Classification of Bradykinesia for Parkinson's Disease Diagnosis from Smartphone Videos
Slowness of movement, known as bradykinesia, is an important early symptom of Parkinson's disease. This symptom is currently assessed subjectively by clinical experts. However, expert assessment has been shown to be subject to inter-rater variability. We propose a low-cost, contactless system using smarthphone videos to automatically determine the presence of bradykinesia. Using 70 videos recorded in a pilot study, we predicted the presence of bradykinesia with an estimated test accuracy of 0.79 and the presence of Parkinson's disease with estimated test accuracy 0.63. Even on a small set of pilot data this accuracy is comparable to that recorded by blinded human experts
Autophagy in healthy aging and disease
Autophagy is a fundamental cellular process that eliminates molecules and subcellular elements, including nucleic acids, proteins, lipids and organelles, via lysosome-mediated degradation to promote homeostasis, differentiation, development and survival. While autophagy is intimately linked to health, the intricate relationship among autophagy, aging and disease remains unclear. This Review examines several emerging features of autophagy and postulates how they may be linked to aging as well as to the development and progression of disease. In addition, we discuss current preclinical evidence arguing for the use of autophagy modulators as suppressors of age-related pathologies such as neurodegenerative diseases. Finally, we highlight key questions and propose novel research avenues that will likely reveal new links between autophagy and the hallmarks of aging. Understanding the precise interplay between autophagy and the risk of age-related pathologies across organisms will eventually facilitate the development of clinical applications that promote long-term health
Consistent model of magnetism in ferropnictides
The discovery of superconductivity in LaFeAsO introduced the ferropnictides
as a major new class of superconducting compounds with critical temperatures
second only to cuprates. The presence of magnetic iron makes ferropnictides
radically different from cuprates. Antiferromagnetism of the parent compounds
strongly suggests that superconductivity and magnetism are closely related.
However, the character of magnetic interactions and spin fluctuations in
ferropnictides, in spite of vigorous efforts, has until now resisted
understanding within any conventional model of magnetism. Here we show that the
most puzzling features can be naturally reconciled within a rather simple
effective spin model with biquadratic interactions, which is consistent with
electronic structure calculations. By going beyond the Heisenberg model, this
description explains numerous experimentally observed properties, including the
peculiarities of the spin wave spectrum, thin domain walls, crossover from
first to second order phase transition under doping in some compounds, and
offers new insight in the occurrence of the nematic phase above the

operators acting on it, which gives it the structure of a Hilbert module. This
survey aims to introduce the Drury-Arveson space, to give a panoramic view of
the main operator theoretic and function theoretic aspects of this space, and
