    Hadron Spectroscopy at BESIII

    Get PDF
    AbstractThe BESIII detector has collected the largest data samples around τ – charm energy region since the upgrade was completed in 2008. The hadron spectroscopy, as one of the main physics goals, was extensively studied and many important progresses were achieved these years. In this report the recent results on the study of hadron spectroscopy were presented, including the light hadron spectroscopy and the observations of the charmonium-like Zc particles

    Novel approach to investigate η\eta decays via ηππη\eta'\rightarrow\pi\pi\eta

    Full text link
    To avoid the impact from the background events directly from e+ee^+e^- annihilations or J/ψJ/\psi decays, we propose a novel approach to investigate η\eta decays, in particular for its rare or forbidden decays, by using ηππη\eta^\prime\rightarrow\pi\pi\eta produced in J/ψJ/\psi decays at the τ\tau-charm factories. Based on the MC studies of a few typical decays, ηππ\eta\rightarrow \pi\pi, γl+l(l=e,μ)\gamma l^+l^- (l= e, \mu), l+ll^+l^-, as well as l+lπ0l^+l^-\pi^0, the sensitivities could be obviously improved by taking advantage of the extra constraint of η\eta^\prime. Using one trillion J/ψJ/\psi events accumulated at the Super τ\tau-Charm facility, the precision on the investigation of η\eta decays could be improved significantly and the observation of the rare decay ηe+e\eta\rightarrow e^+e^- is even accessable.Comment: 7 pages, 6 figure

    Light Meson Decays at BESIII

    Full text link
    At present the world’s largest sample of 1.3 billion J/ψ events was accumulated at the BESIII detector, which offers a unique place to study light meson decays. The recent results on the light meson decays are reviewed in this talk. An emphasis is put on the significant progresses on the study of η/η′ decays, including Dalitz plot analysis of η/η′ → πππ, observation of new decay modes (η′ → π+π−π+(0)π−(0), η′ → ρ±π∓, η′ → γe+e− and η′ → e+e−ω), study of η′ → γπ+π− and search for the rare decay of η′ → Kπ. In addition, a prospect on the Dalitz plot analysis of ω → π+π−π0 is presented

    Using 5.8×107J/ψ5.8 \times 10^7 J/\psi events collected in the BESII detector, the radiative decay J/ψγϕϕγK+KKS0KL0J/\psi \to \gamma \phi \phi \to \gamma K^+ K^- K^0_S K^0_L is studied. The ϕϕ\phi\phi invariant mass distribution exhibits a near-threshold enhancement that peaks around 2.24 GeV/c2c^{2}. A partial wave analysis shows that the structure is dominated by a 0+0^{-+} state (η(2225)\eta(2225)) with a mass of 2.240.02+0.030.02+0.032.24^{+0.03}_{-0.02}{}^{+0.03}_{-0.02} GeV/c2c^{2} and a width of 0.19±0.030.04+0.060.19 \pm 0.03^{+0.06}_{-0.04} GeV/c2c^{2}. The product branching fraction is: Br(J/ψγη(2225))Br(η(2225)ϕϕ)=(4.4±0.4±0.8)×104Br(J/\psi \to \gamma \eta(2225))\cdot Br(\eta(2225)\to \phi\phi) = (4.4 \pm 0.4 \pm 0.8)\times 10^{-4}.Comment: 11 pages, 4 figures. corrected proof for journa

    Measurements of J/psi --> p \bar{p}

    Full text link
    The process J/\psi --> p \bar{p} is studied using 57.7 X 10^6 J/\psi events collected with the BESII detector at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider. The branching ratio is determined to be Br(J/\psi --> p \bar{p})=(2.26 +- 0.01 +- 0.14) X 10^{-3}, and the angular distribution is well described by \frac{dN}{d cos\theta_p}=1+\alpha\cos^2\theta_p with \alpha = 0.676 +- 0.036 +- 0.042, where \theta_p is the angle between the proton and beam directions. The value of \alpha obtained is in good agreement with the predictions of first-order QCD.Comment: 6 pages, 2 figures, RevTex4, Submitted to Phys.Lett.
