    Get PDF
The temporal evolution and expansion of the areas of the use of electronic computers has increased in the accumulation of knowledge and the size of the symbols used until later formed the so-called programming languages "Programming Language" and is characterized by programming languages in fact instructed composed of sentences, not symbols grouped only, in addition to the fact that these sentences are very close to the sentences used in normal conversational languages. I have many number of these languages to expand coding on the one hand, and the different areas of use systems, computer has made studies in more than one center of electronic computing centers around the possibility of the development of languages commensurate with the area where he works, and here began the logic in multiple programming languages and expansion has been published in the last twenty years, a large number of languages that are designed on the principles of different codes, which popularized the use of the department of comprehensiveness and accuracy and has become used on a global level, and which disappeared or remained section used on a small scale and within limited areas. It is the most important languages that has spread on a global level language Fortran and Pascal and Fortran language Gobol language C ++.Data Processin

    Model for horizontal tube settlers

    Get PDF
Tube settlers are classified into two configurations; the essentially horizontal and the steeply inclined. Theoretical and experimental studies were conducted on the basis of an extensive literature review to clarify some of the unsettled questions and a model for both design configurations was proposed, the Fadel Model; The model considers the effect of velocity profile variations ranging from uniform at the tube entrance to fully developed laminar flow profiles at the end of the transition length. Three methods for using the model were established: a computer program, design charts, and an equation; The experimental studies demonstrate the validity of the Fadel Model as a design method for determining particle settling length in circular tube settlers. The effect of sludge accumulation on the performance of the essentially horizontal tubes was studied both theoretically and experimentally;Theoretically, the essentially horizontal tube configuration was found to perform perfectly under conditions of sludge accumulation until the storage depth reached 40% of the tube depth. However, experiments showed that total sludge accumulations of up to 53% tube depth did not cause performance to deteriorate. Accordingly, a maximum allowable storage depth of 40% of the tube diameter is the recommended factor of safety for these horizontal tubes. An inlet and outlet arrangment for the essentially horizontal tubes also was proposed

Role of intraoperative arthrogram in decision making of closed versus medial open reduction of developmental hip dysplasia

Background: Hip arthrography in developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) has the advantages of viewing the shape and size of the cartilaginous part of both the femoral head and acetabulum, besides the soft tissue obstacles. The aim of the work was to assess the role of arthrogram in evaluation of closed reduction of developmental dysplasia of the hip. Methods: This prospective study included 30 patients with 36 involved hips who presented with DDH. This study included 7 males (23.3%) and 23 females (76.7%). There were 6 patients with bilateral hip involvement (20.0%) and 24 patients with unilateral involvement (80.0%). In this study we used 3 ml Urografin 76% diluted in 7 ml saline and 3 to 5 ml of diluted Urografin was injected into the hip joint. Results: Out of the 36 hips, closed reduction was successful in 33 hips (91.7%) and failed in 3 (8.3%). After the interpretation of the arthrogram we considered the reduction of 7 (21.2%) reduced hips nonconcentric because of the soft tissue obstacles. In the 7 hips with nonconcentric reduction besides the 3 hips with failed closed reduction, we proceeded to open reduction of the hip through medial approach. At the end of follow up, all hips (100%) showed concentric reduction without re-dislocation in any case. Conclusions: Hip arthrogram is a very reliable method in diagnosing hip concentricity and the presence of soft tissue obstacles in management of DDH by closed reduction. Arthrogram helps the operator to decide open reduction in such cases achieving excellent results in all cases

Modeling of Observed Permanent Deformation at La Villita Dam

    Get PDF
The observed behavior of La Villita dam in Mexico during five different earthquakes which have occurred in the period 1975-1985 is analyzed. Asymmetry observed in the recorded crest acceleration time histories is interpreted to be due to localized stick-slip behavior below the recording instrument. Yield acceleration associated with each stick-slip event can be inferred directly from these crest records. Values of observed average yield accelerations for the November 15, 1975 and September 19, 1985 earthquakes are used to predict the observed horizontal displacements during these earthquakes. Response of other soil systems involving stick-slip deformations during dynamic loading is also briefly discussed

Electronic Structure of Copper Antimony Using Compton Scattering Technique

    Get PDF
In this paper we present the first ever measured experimental electron momentum density of Cu2Sb at an intermediate resolution (0.6 a.u.) using 59.54 keV 241Am Compton spectrometer. The measurements are compared with the theoretical Compton profiles using density function theory (DFT) within a linear combination of an atomic orbitals (LCAO) method. In DFT calculation, Perdew-Burke-Ernzerhof (PBE) scheme is employed to treat correlation whereas exchange is included by following the Becke scheme. It is seen that various approximations within LCAO-DFT show relatively better agreement with the experimental Compton data. Ionic model calculations for a number of configurations (Cu+x/2)2(Sb-x) (0.0≤x≤2.0) are also performed utilizing free atom profiles, the ionic model suggests transfer of 2.0 electrons per Cu atom from 4s state to 5p state of Sb

    Get PDF
A model for the computation of seismically induced permanent displacements is earth structures are proposed. This model allows relative sliding between different zones of the structure under investigation. Large displacements are allowed between these zones. Elasto-plastic constitutive soil behavior is accounted for. An updated Lagrangian Jaumann Finite Element formulation is used. The proposed model is used to predict the observed behavior of LaVillita Dam during the November 15, 1975 earthquake

Experimental and numerical study of the behavior of RC slabs with openings reinforced by metal mesh under impact loading

    Get PDF
The main objective of the following work is to inspect the effect of reinforcing metal mesh on the behavior of slabs with openings under impact loadings. Based on an earlier numerical study by Shaheen et al. (2017), slabs with mid-side openings revealed the worst behavior regarding to deflection and cracked pattern when subjected to impact loading compared to other slabs with different locations of openings. Hence, the present work focuses specifically on this type of slabs and the variation in their behavior when reinforced by welded or expanded metal mesh. Seven specimens were prepared and tested in Faculty of Engineering, Menoufia University, Egypt. Moreover, a FE model for the slabs was built using Abaqus 6.14 and verified against test results. It was found that expanded metal mesh had a significant effect on reducing deflection due to impact load as well as controlling of cracks in contrast with welded metal mesh

Extractive multi document summarization using harmony search algorithm

    Get PDF
The exponential growth of information on the internet makes it troublesome for users to get valuable information. Text summarization is the process to overcome such a problem. An adequate summary must have wide coverage, high diversity, and high readability. In this article, a new method for multi-document summarization has been supposed based on a harmony search algorithm that optimizes the coverage, diversity, and readability. Concerning the benchmark dataset Text Analysis Conference (TAC-2011), the ROUGE package used to measure the effectiveness of the proposed model. The calculated results support the effectiveness of the proposed approach
