Active stabilisation of single drive dual-parallel Mach-Zehnder modulator for single sideband signal generation
Presented is a study on a single-drive dual-parallel Mach-Zehnder modulator implementation as a single sideband suppressed carrier generator. High values of both extinction ratio and sidemode suppression ratio were obtained at different modulation frequencies over the Cband. In addition, a stabilisation loop had been developed to preserve the single sideband generation over time
The Liquid-Gas Phase Transitions in a Multicomponent Nuclear System with Coulomb and Surface Effects
The liquid-gas phase transition is studied in a multi-component nuclear
system using a local Skyrme interaction with Coulomb and surface effects. Some
features are qualitatively the same as the results of Muller and Serot which
uses relativistic mean field without Coulomb and surface effects. Surface
tension brings the coexistance binodal surface to lower pressure. The Coulomb
interaction makes the binodal surface smaller and cause another pair of binodal
points at low pressure and large proton fraction with less protons in liquid
phase and more protons in gas phase.Comment: 20 pages including 7 postscript figure
A novel architecture for all-optical add-drop multiplexing of OFDM signals
We propose a novel architecture for all-optical add-drop multiplexing of OFDM signals. Extensive numerical simulations have been carried out to benchmark the performance of the architecture against critical design parameters
(Non) singular Kantowski-Sachs Universe from quantum spherically reduced matter
Using s-wave and large N approximation the one-loop effective action for 2d
dilaton coupled scalars and spinors which are obtained by spherical reduction
of 4d minimal matter is found. Quantum effective equations for reduced Einstein
gravity are written. Their analytical solutions corresponding to 4d
Kantowski-Sachs (KS) Universe are presented. For quantum-corrected Einstein
gravity we get non-singular KS cosmology which represents 1) quantum-corrected
KS cosmology which existed on classical level or 2)purely quantum solution
which had no classical limit. The analogy with Nariai BH is briefly mentioned.
For purely induced gravity (no Einstein term) we found general analytical
solution but all KS cosmologies under discussion are singular. The
corresponding equations of motion are reformulated as classical mechanics
problem of motion of unit mass particle in some potential V.Comment: LaTeX file, 16 pages, a few misprints are correcte
Search for the Flavor-Changing Neutral Current Decay with the HERA-B Detector
We report on a search for the flavor-changing neutral current decay using events recorded with a dimuon trigger in
interactions of 920 GeV protons with nuclei by the HERA-B experiment. We find
no evidence for such decays and set a 90% confidence level upper limit on the
branching fraction .Comment: 17 pages, 4 figures (of which 1 double), paper to be submitted to

Measurement of the J/Psi Production Cross Section in 920 GeV/c Fixed-Target Proton-Nucleus Interactions
The mid-rapidity (dsigma_(pN)/dy at y=0) and total sigma_(pN) production
cross sections of J/Psi mesons are measured in proton-nucleus interactions.
Data collected by the HERA-B experiment in interactions of 920 GeV/c protons
with carbon, titanium and tungsten targets are used for this analysis. The
J/Psi mesons are reconstructed by their decay into lepton pairs. The total
production cross section obtained is sigma_(pN)(J/Psi) = 663 +- 74 +- 46
nb/nucleon. In addition, our result is compared with previous measurements
