    Quaternary warping at Gorge Saddle, western Southland

    Gorge Saddle is one low point on a drainage divide between Fiordland and the Southland Plain. Eastward sloping Quaternary terraces east of the divide and westward sloping terraces to the west contain granitic pebbles which could have been derived only from the west. This suggests doming at the present divide concurrent with transport from the west

    Racial and Ethnic Diversity in Undergraduate Social Work Programs: How are Programs in Rural Areas Faring?

    Social work programs have a long-standing commitment to recruiting and educating racially and ethnically diverse students. However, some programs in rural areas have greater difficulty meeting this commitment. This study examined racial and ethnic diversity within baccalaureate social work (BSW) programs, focusing primarily on student enrollment, faculty, perceptions of diversity, and interventions to attract students. Program directors of BSW programs from 10 Midwestern states were surveyed. Forty-two programs responded. The results indicate that as a whole, social work programs differ in their levels of racial and ethnic diversity. However, BSW programs in rural areas tend to have fewer students and fewer faculty who are racially or ethnically diverse. BSW program directors recognize lack of diversity as an issue, yet strategies that have been used to increase diversity have been only minimally effective. Implications for social work programs and strategies to enhance diversity are discussed

    A case study of the feasibility of weekly tACS for the treatment of auditory hallucinations in schizophrenia

    Dear Editor, In a previous double-blind placebo-controlled clinical trial for the treatment of auditory hallucinations in patients with schizophrenia, we administered five consecutive days of transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS) targeted to increase network synchronization between the prefrontal cortex and auditory cortex. Our initial study found that tACS restored impaired alpha oscillations and that this increase correlated with clinical benefit. These findings suggest that tACS may be of future therapeutic value, and weekly tACS may be a means of increasing the durability of clinical benefit [2]. However, the feasibility of weekly tACS sessions for the treatment of auditory hallucinations is currently unknown. To address this question, we recruited a single patient from those who completed an ongoing randomized, clinical trial of tACS to participate in an exploratory open-label study of weekly tACS. In this letter, we report on the successful completion of 20 weekly 40-min tACS sessions and a shift in the sense of controllability captured by the auditory hallucination rating scale (AHRS) and a personal log provided by the patient after study completion. Our study supports the feasibility and safety of prolonged, weekly tACS paradigms in patients with schizophrenia. However, due to the exploratory, open-label nature of this study, no conclusions can be drawn about the efficacy of weekly tACS

The origin of the deformation is discussed in terms of the evolution of the single particle energy levels leading to the compression of the energy difference of the orbitals in the sd and pf shells for protons and neutrons, respectively. Therefore, due to quadrupole excitations across the Z = 14 and N = 28 gaps, the intruder configuration in the neutron rich S isotopes became the ground state

    Where do graduates Develop their Enterprise Skills? The Value of the Contribution of Higher Education Institutions’ Context

    This study investigates the value of the contribution of HEIs’ context in developing graduates enterprise skills. HEIs are under pressure to develop more enterprising graduates, particularly with the increasing numbers of graduates seeking employment and the growing dissatisfaction of employers. This study explores where graduates develop enterprise skills through investigating the impact of HE and employment contexts on their development. The paper draws on a qualitative study in the social constructionist paradigm within the pharmacy context, where interviews were conducted with pharmacy academics and employers. Results show that ability to demonstrate skills in one context does not necessarily mean ability to demonstrate them in another since the development and demonstration of enterprise skills is impacted by the contexts in which they are developed and demonstrated. The study adds value by highlighting the significant role of both HE and employment contexts in developing enterprise skills, while emphasising that these skills become more transferable through exposure to more contexts
