RLZAP: Relative Lempel-Ziv with Adaptive Pointers
Relative Lempel-Ziv (RLZ) is a popular algorithm for compressing databases of
genomes from individuals of the same species when fast random access is
desired. With Kuruppu et al.'s (SPIRE 2010) original implementation, a
reference genome is selected and then the other genomes are greedily parsed
into phrases exactly matching substrings of the reference. Deorowicz and
Grabowski (Bioinformatics, 2011) pointed out that letting each phrase end with
a mismatch character usually gives better compression because many of the
differences between individuals' genomes are single-nucleotide substitutions.
Ferrada et al. (SPIRE 2014) then pointed out that also using relative pointers
and run-length compressing them usually gives even better compression. In this
paper we generalize Ferrada et al.'s idea to handle well also short insertions,
deletions and multi-character substitutions. We show experimentally that our
generalization achieves better compression than Ferrada et al.'s implementation
with comparable random-access times
The 3D Structure of CO Depletion in High-mass Prestellar Regions
Disentangling the different stages of the star formation process, in particular in the high-mass regime, is a challenge in astrophysics. Chemical clocks could help alleviate this problem, but their evolution strongly depends on many parameters, leading to degeneracy in the interpretation of the observational data. One of these uncertainties is the degree of CO depletion. We present here the first self-consistent magneto-hydrodynamic simulations of high-mass, star-forming regions at different scales, fully coupled with a nonequilibrium chemical network, which includes C-N-O bearing molecules. Depletion and desorption processes are treated time dependently. The results show that full CO depletion (i.e., all gas-phase CO frozen-out on the surface of dust grains) can be reached very quickly, in one-third or even smaller fractions of the freefall time, whether the collapse proceeds on slow or fast timescales. This leads to a high level of deuteration in a short time, both for typical tracers like N2H+, as well as for the main ion H3+, the latter being in general larger and more extended. N2 depletion is slightly less efficient, and no direct effects on N-bearing molecules and deuterium fractionation are observed. We show that CO depletion is not the only driver of deuteration, and that there is a strong impact on D frac when changing the grain size. We finally apply a two-dimensional Gaussian point-spread function to our results to mimic observations with single-dish and interferometers. Our findings suggest that the low-values observed in high-mass star-forming clumps are in reality masking a full-depletion stage in the inner 0.1 pc region
Complete Genome Sequencing of Lactobacillus plantarum UNQLp 11 Isolated from a Patagonian Pinot Noir Wine
Lactobacillus plantarum UNQLp 11 strain was isolated from a Patagonian Pinot noir wine at the oldest commercial winery (110 years old) in General Roca, North Patagonia, Argentina, and has demonstrated its ability to survive during winemaking processes and successfully carry out malolactic fermentation. This work aimed to obtain the whole assembled genome of the UNQLp 11 strain, analysing its architecture and the possible functions of the predicted genes from the oenological properties of this strain. The genome size is 3 534 932 bp, with a mean GC content of 44.2%, 3 412 CDS, 80 transposons and 148 tandem repeats. A comparison between the genome size and gene content of 14 Lb. plantarum strains from different origins was performed, and UNQLp 11 exhibited the largest size. The in silico genome-wide analysis allowed us to confirm the existence of genes encoding enzymes involved in the synthesis of several metabolites ofoenological interest, in addition to bacteriocins and exopolysaccharides. Furthermore, it is possible to speculate on this strain’s adaptation to different environments, as it is able to use diverse substrates forits growth. All these features suggest the potential of UNQLp 11 to be a good starter culture for malolactic fermentation

Del desarrollo local al desarrollo regional: diferencias y desafÃo metodológico
Este trabajo trata sobre una problemática clásica dentro del tema territorial (cuál es el espacio polÃticogeográfico que abarca lo local y cuál lo regional), cuyo efecto, desde el enfoque del desarrollo, no se limita a la mera controversia en el campo académico. De hecho, que el caso de interés sea uno u otro, tiene gran importancia en la definición de la metodologÃa más adecuada para iniciar y sostener en el tiempo a esos procesos. Como se verá, una interpretación que distinga al Desarrollo Local (DL) del Desarrollo Regional (DR) como la que aquà se presenta, permite incluir como entorno geográfico de interés, a cualquier tipo de territorio y al mismo tiempo, diferenciar a los que requieren un tipo de metodologÃa de aquellos otros que exigirÃan otra significativamente diferente. Sin embargo, el actual estado de situación es que para los casos que aquà se clasifican como de DR, al menos en el paÃs, aún no se ha reportado una metodologÃa de planificación estratégica endógena y participativa especÃfica, y por ende, tampoco aplicaciones a escala. La contribución de este trabajo, en cualquier caso, es clarificar distintos aspectos de la problemática, lo que siempre es el primer paso para encontrar una solución a la misma
A Modeling Framework to Assess Strategies Alignment based on Collaborative Network Emotions
[DE] The Collaborative Networks (CN) discipline has been largely studied in last decades, addressing different problems and proposing solutions for the robust establishment of collaborative processes, within the enterprises willing to collaborate. The main aim of CN research is, therefore, to generate approaches that enable creating effective relationships in the long term, to achieve stable and agile alliances. The concept of alignment among the CN partners has been considered since the beginning of CN research. Nevertheless, novel perspectives of study in CN, such as the consideration of collaborative emotional states, within the CN, have been introduced in recent years. This paper connects the research area of strategies alignment and the CN emotion models. Accordingly, a modelling framework to assess strategies alignment considering the emotional environment within the CN is proposed. Creative innovation in Spanish construction firms

Any other use requires prior permission of the American Society of Civil Engineers"Small and medium-sized contractors are characterized by organizational structures that are highly focused on control. As a result, employees concentrate on day-to-day activities with little time or motivation to generate creative ideas. Generally, the technological improvements of these companies arise as a result of problem-solving at the construction site. Nevertheless, the actual status quo is changing. In fact, some Spanish public agencies are already considering innovation as an added value in public procurement; thus, large contractors are starting to systemize their innovative efforts. This means that small and medium-sized enterprises must modify their attitudes towards innovation in order to sustain their competitiveness. The implementation of a system that enhances innovation and acquisition of knowledge may be the solution to overcome this disadvantage. The authors analyzed the implementation of an innovation management system in a Spanish construction firm of medium size for nine years. The system builds on a set of processes aimed to generate innovation projects that allow the contractor to document the innovation, not only for internal purposes related to knowledge management, but also for external ones associated with obtaining better results in public tenders. These processes are: (a) technology watch; (b) creativity; (c) planning and executing innovation projects; (d) technology transfer; and (e) protection of results. The last step is the feedback of the entire process through the assessment of the final outcomes.
