Ghost Chaplygin scalar field model of dark energy

We investigate the correspondence between the ghost and Chaplygin scalar field dark energy models in the framework of Einstein gravity. We consider a spatially non-flat FRW universe containing the interacting dark energy with dark matter. We reconstruct the potential and the dynamics for the Chaplygin scalar field model according to the evolutionary behavior of the ghost dark energy which can describe the phantomic accelerated expansion of the universe.Comment: 11 pages, 5 figures, matched to published versio

Thermodynamical description of interacting entropy-corrected new agegraphic dark energy

To explain the accelerating universe driven by dark energy, a so-called "entropy-corrected new agegraphic dark energy" (ECNADE), was recently proposed with the help of quantum corrections to the entropy-area relation in the framework of loop quantum cosmology. Using this definition, we study its thermodynamical features including entropy and energy conservation. We discuss the thermodynamical interpretation of the interaction between ECNADE and dark matter in a non-flat universe bounded by the apparent horizon. We obtain a relation between the interaction term of the dark components and thermal fluctuation.Comment: 8 pages, version accepted for publication in Europhysics Letters (2011

Background: Despite the prevalence of Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) and Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH), there was no treatment has been proven to be effective in these common diseases. Although many studies have shown that lifestyle modifications such as increasing physical activities and exercise could be effective in the treatment of these common diseases, the optimal strategy was still not determined. According to the beneficial effects of antioxidant agents in the treatment of NASH, vitamin E has been used for this purpose by some clinicians. We designed this study for assessing beneficial effects of regular physical activity on the biochemical and imaging responses in patients with NASH and comparing this with vitamin E as an accepted treatment for NASH. Materials and Methods: This study was Randomized and single-blind clinical trials were carried out in Gonbad-e Kavus through which a total of 30 consecutive patients with the ultra sonographic diagnosis of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH)were enrolled and randomized to one of the three groups: Vitamin E 800 mg/day, regular physical activity, or both. Results: In all treatment groups improvement in liver transaminases level, serum lipids and ultrasonographic grading of fatty liver occurred after three months of treatment. When these decrement was compared between the treatment groups, there was no statistically significant difference in the value of improvement between the three groups (ANOVA: p>0.5). I.e. all three interventions improved the biochemical and ultrasonographic finding of fatty liver in the same way. Both groups with regular exercise had significant mean weight loss in comparison with the vitamin E group (a mean decrease of 3.0 kg in exercise group, 5.8 kg in subjects on regular exercise plus vitamin E and 0.2 kg in vitamin E group, ANOVA: p=0.04). Conclusion: There were no significant differences between exercise and vitamin E alone or in combination regarding the reduction in the level of liver enzymes and sonographic evidences of fatty liver although both resulted in significant improvements in biochemical endpoints. This implies that physical activity could be considered as effective as vitamin E in the improvement of biochemical and ultrasonographic presentations of NASH and the addition of Vitamin E does not offer any benefits. According to the findings of this pilot study a full-powered study with a control group should be designed. © 2015, Iranian Association of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. All rights reserved

The frequency and distribution of meiobenthoses in northern Creeks of the Bushehr Province during autumn2000- Summer200I were studied for determining the condition of sea sediments using seasonal sampling. Samplings were carried out in 10 stations from Doube Creek to Bandar Genaveh Creek as well as a control station in the Persian Gulf. Totally, 4 taxa of meiofauna were identified that Ostracoda and Gastropoda with 29% and 18% had the maximum and minimum percent of abundance, respectively. The maximum percent of abundance in station No.10(control station at sea) with 20735 n/m2 and the minimum abundance in station No.2 (Creek of Farake)with 5320 n/m2 were observed. The maximum abundance of meiobenthos in spring with 167603 n/m2 and the minimum abundance during winter with 61365 nlm2 were determined. In addition, grain size, soil texture and total organic matter (T.O.M) of sediment in 10 stations were analyzed. Results showed that station No.10 with 11.79% had the maximum percent of T.O.M while the minimum T.O.M (3.87%) in station No.4 (Gasir Creek) was observed. The correlation of sampling station based on the abundance of meiobenthos was also analyzed

Recombinant retroviral vector containing human tissue inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase-2 (TIMP-2) gene was constructed and investigation of the in vitro invasion and metastasis of gastric cancer cells transfected with TIMP-2 was carried out. Human TlMP-2 was isolated from recombinant vector Bluescript 1/TIMP-2(+), and then inserted into the retroviral vector pL-MT. Correct orientation was verified by restriction endonuclease digestion. Human full length TIMP-2 gene was ligated into a plasmid, which was then transfected into PA317 cell line. G418-resistant individual clones were selected to transfect human SGC-7901 cell line. Cell proliferation, cell electrophoresis, soft agar colony formation and in vitro invasion were detected to analyze the bio-behavioral changes of cancer cells. The results from restriction endonuclease digestion were as theoretically expected. The cell electrophoresis rate, colony number and invasion ability in SGC-7901 cells and MFC cells transfected with TIMP-2 gene were significantly decreased when compared with control group. However, no significant changes were noted in the proliferation of cancer cells. We successfully construct a recombinant retroviral vector containing human TIMP-2. TIMP-2 transfection could markedly alter the membrane charge of cancer cells, resulting in decreased electrophoresis capacity, cell migration and invasion. However, cell growth was not affected by TIMP-2. These results suggested TIMP-2 transfection might exert effects on the malignant phenotype of cancer cells through affecting extracellular environment, which provided a new way to investigate gene regulation of in vitro collagen metabolism
