The explanatory power of trust and commitment and stakeholders' salience : their influence on the reverse logistics programs performance

    Get PDF
There is a growing awareness among practitioners and scholars regarding the importance of Relationship Marketing and its advantages in the supply chain management context. This is particularly appropriate for Reverse Logistics (RL) activities, which are characterized by several relationships between different stakeholders and the firm. Drawing on multiple theoretical approaches, we propose that RL programs result from the combination of external, organizational, and individual factors. We emphasize the role of trust and commitment as key influential elements on the RL systems implementation and their subsequent performance

This article aims to reflect on the way social anthropology can contribute to the study of migrations and, simultaneously, to “find out” what the discipline can also learn from this field of study, and thus to transfer its knowledge to other areas. From here we will learn how important here and there are for the study of migrations, not as situations or places, but as constructed and reconstructed notions of identification processes. From that point, we will try to show some examples of our ethnographic research that lead to the analysis of the concept of situation from its relational dimension. A notion of context that shouldn’t be seen in relation to space, but in the provision of meanings for the social and cultural events within it. Therefore a trans-scalar approach of anthropology will arise in a global context and referring to any sociocultural pnenomenon. Such an approach wil lead to the enforcement of a multisited ethnography.

Antibiotic Prophylactic Regimens for Infective Endocarditis in Patients Undergoing Dental Procedures

    Get PDF
Up to date causal relationship has been demonstrated between dental manipulations and the onset of infective endocarditis (IE). However, since 1955, numerous expert committees have proposed antibiotic prophylaxis (AP) to prevent bacteraemia of oral origin. Controversy regarding the efficacy of AP prior to the dental procedures has intensified in recent years because of the lack of conclusive evidence on its efficacy for the prevention of IE and on its cost-effectiveness, as well as the possibility of allergic reactions and the emergence of antibiotic resistance. Accordingly, AP is now maintained exclusively for patients at highest risk and who require the manipulation of the gingival or periapical regions of the teeth or perforation of the oral mucosa. In the context of a restrictive policy, the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) of the United Kingdom published a new guideline in 2008 stating that “AP against IE is not recommended for persons undergoing dental procedures”, regardless of risk status and of the nature of the procedure to be performed. The NICE guideline has generated further controversy, and expert committees in other countries continue to publish prophylactic regimens for the prevention of IE secondary to dental procedures. In this chapter, we discuss the principal guidelines currently applicable in Europe, the USA and Australia, and we draw particular attention to the need for randomised clinical trials

Implementing low power consumption in standby mode in the case of power supplies with power factor correction

    Get PDF
This work analyzes different options to implement low power consumption in Switching Mode Power Supplies (SMPSs) with Power Factor Correction (PFC) when they are in standby mode. The standard SMPSs for power levels higher than 100 W are made up of two stages: a classical PFC stage based on a Boost Converter operating in the Continuous Conduction Mode and a second stage based on any type of isolated DC-DC converter. The value of the resistive sensors needed by the PFC control stage determines a standby consumption higher than 0.5 W if the power supply has to be designed to operate in the Universal Range of line voltages. This fact makes it very difficult to comply with European Ecodesign Regulations. To overcome this problem, several solutions are proposed and analyzed in this paper, the most promising being implemented in a real SMPS prototype. This work has been supported by the Spanish Government under Project MINECO-13-DPI2013-47176-C2-2-R and the Principality of Asturias under the grant “Severo Ochoa” BP14-85 and by the Project FC-15-GRUPIN14-143 and by European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) grants.2017 Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition (APEC

The concept of Deaf community is associated with sign language. In spite of being a natural language for a deaf child, advances in the study of sign language and progressive recognition and legalisation around sign languages in various countries, this topic continues to be relatively unknown and misunderstood by broad portions of society. In consequence, a deaf child’s education and normal development can be seriously affected by the focus on deafness from a clinical perspective. Attempts to integrate Deaf children into society through an oral education have only been successful in certain cases, although the total number remains undetermined in the absence of official statistics. Catalonia is no exception to this phenomenon. In this article we discuss the educational process and the diverse group movement that links Catalan sign language with the Deaf community.

2-(methylamido)pyridine–borane : a tripod κ3N,H,H-ligand in trigonal bipyramidal rhodium(I) and iridium(I) complexes with an asymmetric coordination of its BH3 group

    Get PDF
The complexes [M(κ3N,H,H-mapyBH3)(cod)] (M = Rh, Ir; HmapyBH3 = 2-(methylamino)pyridine–borane; cod = 1,5-cyclooctadiene), which contain a novel anionic tripod ligand coordinated to the metal atom through the amido N atom and through two H atoms of the BH3 group, have been prepared by treating the corresponding [M2(μ-Cl)2(cod)2] (M = Rh, Ir) precursor with K[mapyBH3]. X-ray diffraction studies and a theoretical QTAIM analysis of their electron density have confirmed that the metal atoms of both complexes are in a very distorted trigonal bipyramidal coordination environment, in which two equatorial sites are asymmetrically spanned by the H–B–H fragment. While both 3c–2e BH–M interactions are more κ1H (terminal sigma coordination of the B–H bond) than κ2H,B (agostic-type coordination of the B–H bond), one BH–M interaction is more agostic than the other and this difference is more marked in the iridium complex than in the rhodium one. This asymmetry is not evident in solution, where the cod ligand and the BH3 group of these molecules participate in two concurrent dynamic processes of low activation energies (VT-NMR and DFT studies), namely, a rotation of the cod ligand that interchanges its two alkene fragments (through a square pyramidal transition state) and a rotation of the BH3 group about the B–N bond that equilibrates the three B–H bonds (through a square planar transition state). While the cod rotation has similar activation energy in 2 and 3, the barrier to the BH3 group rotation is higher in the iridium complex than in the rhodium one
