    Self-consistent calculation of semiconductor heterojunctions by using quantum genetic algorithm

    In this study, we have investigated the ground state energy level of electrons in modulation doped GaAs/AlxGa1-xAs heterojunctions. For this purpose, Schrodinger and Poisson equations are solved self consistently using quantum genetic algorithm (QGA). Thus, we have found the potential profile, the ground state subband energy and their corresponding envelope functions, Fermi level, and the amount of tunneling charge from barrier to channel region.     A Study of Students’ Loneliness Levels and Their Attachment Styles

    The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between loneliness levels and attachment styles of university students. In this research, it was investigated whether the attachment styles differed in terms of variables such as gender, class, place of stay, socio-economic level of their family, parental education levels, counterpart friendship relations, number of siblings, whether to receive psychological help or not. This research was conducted as a relational search. A total of 247 university students selected randomly formed the sample of the research. The results of the research can be summarized as follows; Loneliness levels of those who perceive the socioeconomic status as low and those who didn't get psychological help are found to be higher. Male students and students who get psychological help have higher scores on secure attachment. According to the results of the research there’s a low negative correlation between the loneliness levels of students and dismissing attachment style, a low positive correlation between the loneliness level and preoccupied attachment style, and a low negative correlation between the loneliness level and secure attachment style

    Examination of communication skills of physical education and sports teacher candidate students: Example of faculty of sports sciences: Beden eğitimi ve spor öğretmeni adayı öğrencilerin iletişim becerilerinin incelenmesi: Spor bilimleri fakültesi örneği

    This study aimed to examine the communication skills of students who are studying in the physical education teaching department of the faculties of sports sciences and physical education and sports teacher candidates participating and pedagogical formation certificate program, according to demographic variables. The sample of the study consisted of a total of 377 students, 145 women and 232 men, who continue their education in the physical education teaching, coaching education, and sports management departments of the faculties of sports sciences in the 2019-2020 academic year. Personal information form and the “Communication Skills Scale” that is developed by Korkut Owen and Bugay (2014) were used as data collection tools. Since the data did not show a normal distribution, non-parametric tests were analyzed and descriptive statistics were used. According to the findings obtained, it was observed that the communication skills of the students were high in the sub-dimensions of “communication principles basic skills”, “self-expression”, “active listening and non-verbal communication" and close to high in the “willingness to communicate” sub-dimension. It was determined that the communication skills of the students differed according to their gender and grade levels, and did not differ according to their participation in the departments and pedagogical formation certificate program. As a result, it can be stated that the communication skills of the students studying in the faculties of sports sciences and participating in the pedagogical formation certificate program are generally high, and there is no difference between the students studying in the physical education department and the students participating in the pedagogical formation certificate program. ​Extended English summary is in the end of Full Text PDF (TURKISH) file.   Özet   Bu çalışma, spor bilimleri fakültelerinin beden eğitimi öğretmenliği bölümü ve pedagojik formasyon sertifika programına katılan beden eğitimi ve spor öğretmeni adayı olan öğrencilerin demografik değişkenlere göre iletişim becerilerinin incelenmesini amaçlamıştır. Çalışmanın örneklemini, 2019-2020 eğitim ve öğretim yılında spor bilimleri fakültelerinin beden eğitimi öğretmenliği, antrenörlük eğitimi ve spor yöneticiliği bölümlerinde öğrenim gören 145 kadın, 232 erkek olmak üzere toplam 377 öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Veri toplama aracı olarak kişisel bilgi formu ve Korkut Owen ve Bugay (2014) tarafından geliştirilen “İletişim Becerileri Ölçeği” kullanılmıştır. Veriler, normal dağılım göstermediğinden non-parametrik testlerle analiz edilmiştir ve tanımlayıcı istatistikler kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen bulgulara göre; öğrencilerin iletişim becerilerinin; “iletişim ilkeleri temel beceriler”,  “kendini ifade etme”, “etkin dinleme-sözel olmayan iletişim” alt boyutlarında yüksek; “iletişim kurmaya isteklilik” alt boyutunda ise yükseğe yakın oldukları görülmüştür. Öğrencilerin iletişim becerilerinin cinsiyet ve sınıf düzeylerine göre farklılaştığı; bölüm ve pedagojik formasyon sertifika programına katılma durumlarına göre farklılaşmadığı belirlenmiştir. Sonuç olarak; spor bilimleri fakültelerinde öğrenim gören ve pedagojik formasyon sertifika programına katılan öğrencilerin iletişim becerilerinin genel olarak yüksek, beden eğitimi bölümünde eğitim alan öğrenciler ile pedagojik formasyon sertifika programına katılan öğrenciler arasında farklılık olmadığı ifade edilebilir

    Early phases of different types of isolated neutron star

    Two Galactic isolated strong X-ray pulsars seem to be in the densest environments compared to other types of Galactic pulsar. X-ray pulsar J1846-0258 can be in an early phase of anomalous X-ray pulsars and soft gamma repeaters if its average braking index is ~1.8-2.0. X-ray pulsar J1811-1925 must have a very large average braking index (n~11) if this pulsar was formed by SN 386AD. This X-ray pulsar can be in an early phase of evolution of the radio pulsars located in the region P~50-150 ms and \.{P}~10141016^{-14}-10^{-16} s/s of the P-\.{P} diagram. X-ray/radio pulsar J0540-69 seems to be evolving in the direction to the dim isolated thermal neutron star region on the P-\.{P} diagram. Possible progenitors of different types of neutron star are also discussed.Comment: to appear in the International Journal of Modern Physics

    Top Quark Spin Polarization in ep Collision

    We discuss the degree of spin polarization of single top quarks produced via WgWg fusion process in epep collision at TESLA+HERAp and CLIC+LHC energies s=1.6\sqrt{s}=1.6 and 5.3 TeV. For ebtνˉeb \to t \bar{\nu} subprocess we show that the top quark spin is completely polarized when the spin basis is chosen in the direction of the incoming positron beam in the rest frame of top quark. A description on how to combine the cross sections of e+btνˉe^{+}b\to t\bar{\nu} and e+gtbˉνˉe^{+}g\to t\bar{b}\bar{\nu} processes is given. e+e^{+}-beam direction is taken to be the favorite top quark spin decomposition axis in its rest frame and it is found to be comparable with the ones in pppp collision. It is argued that theoretical simplicity and experimental clearness are the advantage of epep collision.Comment: Revised version of Phys. Rev. D69 (2004)03401

    Quantitative characteristics of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) semen throughout the reproductive season

    The aim of this study was to determine changes in quantitative characteristics of the rainbow trout semen throughout the reproductive season. Semen samples were collected from October to May from broodstock males (n = 12) kept under natural photoperiod regime and semen volume, density, motility, duration of motility, spermatocrit and pH parameters were investigated. In October, one of the 12 brooders (8.3%) were spermiating, increasing to 12 (100%) in December and dropping to 3 (25%) in May. Semen volume significantly increased in January and February. The total volume of expressible semen was maximal in January, increasing from a mean value of 1.7 ml to 20.9 ml. The spermatozoa density showed an increasing trend from October to January, with mean values ranging between 1.4 and 10.3 x 109 sperm/ml. The spermatocrit did not vary with the sampling date. The semen samples collected in November showed the lowest motility of spermatozoa (40%). But the percentage of motile spermatozoa collected from January to May showed more than 80% motility. The duration of motility for the monitoring period ranged between 58.0 and 375.6 sec. In conclusion, the highest quality semen was collected during the medial part of the reproductive season.Bu çalışmanın amacı üreme mevsimi boyunca gökkuşağı alabalığı spermasının nicel özelliklerindeki değişimleri belirlemektir. Sperma örnekleri doğal fotoperiyot altında tutulan damızlıklardan (n = 12) ekim kasım ayları arasında toplandı. Sperma miktarı ve pH, sperma yoğunluğu ve motilite, motil kalma süresi, spermatokrit belirlendi. Ekimde 12 damızlıktan bir tanesi (%8.3) sperm verirken, aralık ayında sperm veren birey sayısı 12’ye (%100) yükseldi ve mayıs ayında 3 (%3) bireye düştü. Sperma miktarı ocak ve şubat aylarında önemli ölçüde arttı. Sağılabilen sperma miktarı, 1.7 ml’den 20.9 ml’ye yükselerek, ocak ayında en yüksek düzeye çıktı. Ekimde 1.4 x 109 sperm/ml olan spermatozoa yoğunluğu ocak ayında 10.3 x 109 sperm/ml olarak saptandı. Spermatokrit değerleri örnekleme zamanına bağlı olarak değişim göstermedi. En düşük motilite kasımdaki örneklerde, ocak ve mayıs arasında toplanan örneklerde ise %80’den yüskek motilite saptandı. Motil kalma süresi, üreme mevsimi boyunca, 58.0 ve 375.6 s arasında değişti. Sonuç olarak, yüksek kalitede sperma üreme mevsimi ortasında toplandı

    Optimization of F2 layer parameters using IRI-Plas and IONOLAB-TEC

    In this study, the relation of the maximum ionization height (HmF2) and the critical frequency (FoF2) of F2 layer is examined within their parametric range through the International Reference Ionosphere extended towards the plasmasphere (IRI-Plas) model and the IONOLAB-TEC. HmF2 and FoF2 are optimized using an iterational loop through Non-Linear Least Squares method. HmF2 and FoF2 are obtained for various locations including Turkey for the same quiet day. Results are compared with ionosonde data where available. This study enables the modification and update of empirical and deterministic IRI Model to include instantaneous variability of the ionosphere. © 2011 IEEE
