The Dynamics of Small Instanton Phase Transitions

The small instanton transition of a five-brane colliding with one end of the S1/Z2 interval in heterotic M-theory is discussed, with emphasis on the transition moduli, their potential function and the associated non-perturbative superpotential. Using numerical methods, the equations of motion of these moduli coupled to an expanding Friedmann-Robertson-Walker spacetime are solved including non-perturbative interactions. It is shown that the five-brane collides with the end of the interval at a small instanton. However, the moduli then continue to evolve to an isolated minimum of the potential, where they are trapped by gravitational damping. The torsion free sheaf at the small instanton is ``smoothed out'' into a vector bundle at the isolated minimum, thus dynamically completing the small instanton phase transition. Radiative damping at the origin of moduli space is discussed and shown to be insufficient to trap the moduli at the small instanton point.Comment: LaTeX, 23 pages, 7 figures; minor corrections, references adde

Abstract Regional aspect of forecasting in conditions of Russian economic environment plays particular role, since without the consideration of specific character of regions development no long-term national programs can be realized, as well as implementation of any social or economic reforms becomes impossible. The interrelation between economic advancement and social factors in the Republic of Mari El reviewed in this this article creates awareness of specific interrelation of gross regional product with considered factors and their influence on this index value

The study of spectral changes in THz range in normal and pathological skin in vivo depending on the dehydration methods used

The terahertz (THz) attenuated total reflectance (ATR) imaging of normal and pathological skin under the action of various dehydration agents was carried out in vivo. Studies were conducted on animal models (the mouse), patients with diabetes, and healthy volunteers. For measurements, each animal was leaned against the ATR prism of the skin surface, and several locations in the skin of each animal were analyzed. Places on the skin for analysis were chosen so that the intensity spectra of the THz signal were practically the same for selected points. THz spectra measurements were carried out every 10 minutes within 45 minutes interval under the action of a dehydration agent. 40% glucose was shown to provide the most effective improving tissue optical clearing effect in the THz range

Geotomography with solar and supernova neutrinos

We show how by studying the Earth matter effect on oscillations of solar and supernova neutrinos inside the Earth one can in principle reconstruct the electron number density profile of the Earth. A direct inversion of the oscillation problem is possible due to the existence of a very simple analytic formula for the Earth matter effect on oscillations of solar and supernova neutrinos. From the point of view of the Earth tomography, these oscillations have a number of advantages over the oscillations of the accelerator or atmospheric neutrinos, which stem from the fact that solar and supernova neutrinos are coming to the Earth as mass eigenstates rather than flavour eigenstates. In particular, this allows reconstruction of density profiles even over relatively short neutrino path lengths in the Earth, and also of asymmetric profiles. We study the requirements that future experiments must meet to achieve a given accuracy of the tomography of the Earth.Comment: 35 pages, 7 figures; minor textual changes in section

A Dynamic Model of Regional Economic Growth

The article is devoted to the construction of a dynamic model of economic growth Solow and Solow model taking into account the delay in the commissioning of assets for the Volga Federal District. We study and analyze the theoretical methods of investigation method of constructing such models and the urgency of the topic of research. To build the model were selected macroeconomic indicators such as gross regional product, the value of fixed assets, the labor force employed in the economy, the economically active population, the value of investments in fixed assets, consumption. On the basis of the constructed models were constructed projections of key macroeconomic parameters included in the model for 2013-2015. In order to assess the accuracy of the predicted values obtained by the Solow model, built four equations of various growth curves. It should be noted that these trend lines very well describe the gross regional product of the Volga Federal District. The best model is the polynomial trend line; the coefficient of determination is the maximum. Predicted values are similar between the Solow model and polynomial trend line. It is shown that elasticity of labor much more elasticity in terms of capital to the Volga Federal District, as a result, it is possible to make an unequivocal conclusion about the extensive nature of economic growth.
