Alternative Eco-Friendly Methods in the Control of Post-Harvest Decay of Tropical and Subtropical Fruits
The effectiveness on several fruits by the application of alternative methods against fungi is summarized in the present chapter. Several investigations have reported the efficacy of these technologies for controlling fungal infections. Currently, high post-harvest loses have been reported due to several factors such as inefficient management, lack of training for farmers, and problems with appropriate conditions for storage of fruits and vegetables. Even now, in many countries, post-harvest disease control is led by the application of chemical fungicides. However, in this time, awareness about fungi resistance, environmental, and health issues has led to the research of eco-friendly and effective alternatives for disease management. The pathogen establishment on fruits can be affected by the application of GRAS compounds like chitosan, essential oils, salts, among others; besides, their efficacy can be enhanced by their combination with other technologies like ultrasound. Thus, the applications of these alternatives are suitable approaches for post-harvest management of fruits

Efectos ambientales por la desposesión territorial y segregación socio espacial en comunidades rurales del estado de Hidalgo
En la actualidad Latinoamérica se encuentra bajo regímenes neoliberales que han permitido el ingreso de compañías transnacionales para la explotación de bienes naturales, en este esquema México enfrenta un escenario de despojo de recursos, experimenta un proceso de explotación a través de diferentes actividades y la minería es una de ella.
El lugar de estudio, es el municipio de Zimapán, el cual a través de su historia presenta un modelo de explotación de minerales con gran valor en el mercado, sin embargo los beneficios económicos no se ven reflejados en los habitantes, por lo contrario manifiesta problemas ambientales como lo son la contaminación del aire, del agua y el suelo, así como la segregación socio espacial derivados de la actividad minera.
El objetivo de la investigación fue analizar los procesos de desposesión territorial y segregación socio espacial en Zimapán Estado de Hidalgo, con la finalidad de comprender los efectos ambientales que está generando.CONACY
Proceso electoral federal 2021: candidatos, partidos políticos y resultados electorales
This paper analyses the evolution of the last electoral processes in Mexico through its candidates, political parties, and the electoral results. Thus, from the spatial and quantitative analysis, the regulatory context of the redistricting process, the integration of the Electoral Geographic Framework and the spatial conformation of the Electoral Geography are identified and described; elements that made possible the analysis of the results of the federal deputy elections from 2015 to 2021.En este artículo se analiza la evolución de los últimos procesos electorales en México a través de sus candidatos, sus partidos políticos y los resultados electorales. Así, a partir del análisis espacial y cuantitativo, se identifica y describe el contexto normativo del proceso de redistritación, la integración del Marco Geográfico Electoral y la conformación espacial de la Geografía Electoral; elementos que hicieron posible el análisis de los resultados de las elecciones de diputado federal de 2015 a 2021
Kinetic Ultrasound-Assisted Extraction as a Sustainable Approach for the Recovery of Phenolics Accumulated through UVA Treatment in Strawberry By-Products
Ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) is an efficient and sustainable method for extracting bioactive compounds from agro-industrial by-products. Moreover, it has been reported that ultraviolet A (UVA) radiation can induce the biosynthesis and accumulation of bioactive phenolic compounds. This study optimized the efficiency of ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) for recovering ultraviolet A (UVA)-induced phenolic compounds in strawberry by-products (RF-N). The impact of three factors (solid-liquid ratio, ethanol concentration, and ultrasound power) on total phenolic compound (TPC) kinetics using Peleg’s model was investigated. The developed model showed a suitable fit for both RF-N and strawberry by-products treated with UVA (RF-E). The optimal UAE conditions obtained were of a 1:30 ratio, 46% ethanol, and 100% ultrasound power, resulting in an average yield of 13 g total phenolics kg−1. The bioaccessibility of phenolic compounds during in-vitro digestion was 36.5%, with agrimoniin being the predominant compound. UAE combined with UVA treatment increased the bioactivity of RF extracts, displaying significant anti-proliferative effects on HT29 and Caco-2 cancer cell lines, as well as anti-inflammatory potential and cellular antioxidant activity. The ultrasound proved to be a sustainable and effective technique for extracting phenolic compounds from RF, contributing to the valorization of strawberry agro-industrial by-products, and maximizing their nutraceutical potential.Fil: Villamil Galindo, Johan Esteban. La secuencia de bridas amnióticas (SBA) es un grupo de malformaciones de tipo disruptivo que afecta principalmente las extremidades; clínicamente, se observan anillos de constricción y linfedema en dedos, brazos y piernas; pseudosindactilias y acrosindactilias; además, existe amputación congénita de las extremidades por tumefacción distal; en algunos pacientes se han comunicado, con menor frecuencia, alteraciones craneofaciales y del tronco. La etiología es aún desconocida y la mayoría de los casos son aislados. En este informe presentamos el caso de un paciente masculino, de 45 días de nacido, con diagnóstico de SBA y atresia bilateral de coanas como hallazgo adjunto; se revisan las posibles causas del SBA y las alteraciones asociadas

Specific Cellular and Humoral Immune Responses to the Neoantigen RBD of SARS-CoV-2 in Patients with Primary and Secondary Immunodeficiency and Healthy Donors
Patients with antibody deficiency disorders, such as primary immunodeficiency (PID) or secondary immunodeficiency (SID) to B-cell lymphoproliferative disorder (B-CLPD), are two groups vulnerable to developing the severe or chronic form of coronavirus disease caused by SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19). The data on adaptive immune responses against SARS-CoV-2 are well described in healthy donors, but still limited in patients with antibody deficiency of a different cause. Herein, we analyzed spike-specific IFN-γ and anti-spike IgG antibody responses at 3 to 6 months after exposure to SARS-CoV-2 derived from vaccination and/or infection in two cohorts of immunodeficient patients (PID vs. SID) compared to healthy controls (HCs). Pre-vaccine anti-SARS-CoV-2 cellular responses before vaccine administration were measured in 10 PID patients. Baseline cellular responses were detectable in 4 out of 10 PID patients who had COVID-19 prior to vaccination, perceiving an increase in cellular responses after two-dose vaccination (p p = 0.005). Whereas all SID and HC patients mounted a specific humoral immune response, only 80% of PID patients showed positive anti-SARS-CoV-2 IgG. The titer of anti-SARS-CoV-2 IgG was significantly lower in SID compared with HC patients (p = 0.040), without significant differences between PID and HC patients (p = 0.123) and between PID and SID patients (p =0.683). High proportions of PID and SID patients showed adequate specific cellular responses to receptor binding domain (RBD) neoantigen, with a divergence between the two arms of the adaptive immune response in PID and SID patients. We also focused on the correlation of protection of positive SARS-CoV-2 cellular response to omicron exposure: 27 out of 81 (33.3%) HCs referred COVID-19 detected by PCR or antigen test, 24 with a mild course, 1 with moderate symptoms and the remaining 2 with bilateral pneumonia that were treated in an outpatient basis. Our results might support the relevance of these immunological studies to determine the correlation of protection with severe disease and for deciding the need for additional boosters on a personalized basis. Follow-up studies are required to evaluate the duration and variability in the immune response to COVID-19 vaccination or infection
