    This study introduces the concept of moral imagination in a work context to provide an ethical approach to the controversial relationships between dirty work and dirty workers. Moral imagination is assessed as an essential faculty to overcome the stigma associated with dirty work and facilitate the daily work lives of workers. The exercise of moral imagination helps dirty workers to face the moral conflicts inherent in their tasks and to build a personal stance toward their occupation. Finally, we argue that organizations with dirty work groups should actively adopt measures to encourage their employees’ exercise of moral imagination. This study investigates how organizations might create conditions that inspire moral imagination, particularly with regard to the importance of organizational culture as a means to enhance workers’ moral sensitivity. Furthermore, this investigation analyzes different company practices that may derive from a culture committed to moral imagination.Moral imagination; Dirty work; Moral conflicts; Stigma; Work groups;

    This article introduces the notion of community-focused strategies to refer to the set of actions, activities and policies that firms undertake to establish connections or relational links with one or more target communities of (potential) customers. Drawing on social identity theory and strategy research, this study begins with a proposed taxonomy of different community-focused strategies. Then it illustrates how such strategies contribute to the creation of competitive advantage and explores their boundary conditions. Finally, the authors offer implications for theory development and practice, as well as suggestions for further research.Communities; Competitive advantage; Firm strategies; Identity;

    Community-based strategies in action: building and sustaining a product differentiation advantage

    An important reason why individuals join groups or communities is to satisfy their needs for identity. Firms might exploit this societal tendency to gain a competitive advantage. Using the strategic approach adopted by Kiehl’s, a U.S. cosmetic producer and retailer, as a source of inspiration and illustration, this paper develops a novel theoretical framework to investigate how firms interact with communities to access privileged customers’ information, from which they can build a product differentiation advantage. We argue that by adhering and supporting a well-defined set of values, Kiehl’s both achieves community membership and strengthens the sense of identity that its target communities provide to their members. These investments prompt reciprocal community member behaviors, which the company channels into its customer knowledge development process. Finally, this article describes how firm–community interactions can protect the differentiation advantage by turning products into symbols of the communities to which its customers belong.Product differentiation, Customer knowledge development, Communities, Case study

    RESUMEN: Introducción: La remisión espontánea se da en un alto porcentaje de niños con tartamudez temprana, por lo que muchos de ellos no son intervenidos al comienzo del trastorno. Objetivo: El objetivo de esta revisión sistemática es reunir información acerca de la eficacia de los distintos tratamientos en logopedia dirigidos a la tartamudez temprana, desde la perspectiva de la evidencia científica disponible. Material y método: Se realizó una búsqueda bibliográfica de artículos científicos entre los meses de octubre de 2016 a marzo de 2017 en las siguientes bases de datos: Pubmed y Trip Database. Tras pasar los criterios de inclusión y exclusión propuestos, se valoró la calidad de los ensayos clínicos aleatorizados mediante la escala CASPe y se obtuvieron un total de 6 artículos para incluir en la revisión. Resultados: Se demostró que la intervención logopédica en tartamudez temprana ofrece resultados más eficaces que la remisión espontánea del trastorno. Además, todos los estudios revisados ofrecen alternativas de tratamiento con resultados garantizados en la intervención. No obstante, existen muy pocos estudios de calidad que puedan dar cuenta de la eficacia de los métodos de intervención en tartamudez temprana. Conclusión: Esta investigación pone de manifiesto la necesidad de continuar con la búsqueda para responder a los nuevos interrogantes que surgen del análisis de los resultados obtenidos en los estudios.ABSTRACT: Introduction: Natural recovery is a phenomenon which occurs in a high percentage of children with early stuttering, therefore, many of them do not enroll into speech and therapy intervention at the onset of stuttering. Objective: The aim of this systematic review is to gather information about the effictiveness of the several speech and therapy intervention methods regarding early stuttering, from an available scientific evidence perspective. Methods: A scientific literature research was conducted from October 2016 to March 2017 in the following databases: Pubmed and Trip Database. After passing the inclusion and exclusion criteria, the quality of the randomized clinical trial was evaluated by CASPe scale and a total of 6 articles were obtained in order to be included in the review. Results: It was shown that speech and therapy intervention in early stuttering provides better results than natural recovery. Moreover, all the reviewed studies provide alternatives of intervention with results guaranteed in speech and therapy. However, there are not many high-quality studies which can show the effectiveness of intervention in early stuttering. Conclusion: This review highlights the need to continue with the research in order to answer the new questions that arise from the analysis of the outcome obtained from the studies.Grado en Logopedi
