    The Effect of Stevia Rebaudiana on Serum Omentin and Visfatin Level in STZ-Induced Diabetic Rats

    Recently the role of adipocytokines in relationship to incidence of diabetes has been demonstrated. One of the medicinal plants that are used in the treatment of diabetes is stevia. This study investigates the effect of stevia on serum omentin and visfatin levels as novel adipocytokines in diabetic induced rats to find potential mechanisms for the anti hyperglycemic effect of stevia. Forty male wistar rats weighing 180–250 g were induced with diabetes by intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin (STZ). The animals were divided into 5 groups of 8. Rats in group 1 (non-diabetic control) and group 2 (diabetic control) were treated with distilled water, and the rats in the treated groups, group 3 (T250), group 4 (T500), and group 5 (T750) were treated with stevia, gavaged every day at 9 a.m. in doses of 250, 500, and 750 mg/kg, respectively. At the end of the study significant reductions in fasting blood sugar (FBS), the homeostasis model assessment insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), triglyceride (TG), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), and Omentin level were found in groups 3 and 4 in comparison with group 2. Pancreatic histopathology slides demonstrated that stevia extract did not induce any increase in the number of β-cells. The conclusion is that prescription of stevia in the doses of 250 and 500 mg/kg/d decreases the omentin level indirectly via activating insulin sensitivity and lowering blood glucose in STZ-induced diabetic rats.     Active Power Sharing and Frequency Restoration in an Autonomous Networked Microgrid

Microgrid (MG) concept is considered as the best solution for future power systems, which are expected to receive a considerable amount of power through renewable energy resources and distributed generation units. Droop control systems are widely adopted in conventional power systems and recently in MGs for power sharing among generation units. However, droop control causes frequency fluctuations, which leads to poor power quality. This paper deals with frequency fluctuation and stability concerns of f-P droop control loop in MGs. Inspired from conventional synchronous generators, virtual damping is proposed to diminish frequency fluctuation in MGs. Then, it is demonstrated that the conventional frequency restoration method inserts an offset to the phase angle, which is in conflict with accurate power sharing. To this end, a novel control method, based on phase angle feedback, is proposed for frequency restoration in conjunction with a novel method for adaptively tuning the feedback gains to preserve precise active power sharing. Nonlinear stability analysis is conducted by drawing the phase variations of the nonlinear second-order equation of the δ-P droop loop and it is proved that the proposed method improves the stability margin of f-P control loop.     The role of Olea Europaea L. Fruit on A2780, A172 and HFFF2 proliferation

    Olea europaea L. commonly known as olive has been traditionally used for the prevention and treatment of many diseases since ancient times. Olive has been reported to possess a broad spectrum of pharmacological properties. In the present study, we investigated the activity of aqueous extract of Olea europaea L. fruit at various concentrations on A2780, A172, and HFFF2 cell lines proliferation by MTT assay. Aqueous extract of olive significantly increased cell proliferation in a dose dependent manner in the cell lines. It has been previously reported that olive has chemoproventive and anti-tumor effects. These disagreements can be explained by differences in cell line properties, type of olive and different solvents in the extracts. However, further investigation is needed to clarify the exact role of olive in cell proliferation and cancer. In this study fruit extract of Olea europaea L. showed more activatory effects on A2780 cell line in comparison with A172 and HFFF2. These differences in the activatory effects may be related to the activation of different signaling pathways in different cell lines. © 2016, Iranian Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists.     Concepts and Dimensions in Continuous Midwifery Care Models Based on the Experiences and Expectations of Stakeholders: A Meta-Synthesis

    Context: Pregnant women’s have access to different models of care especially to those who provide continuous care and this is one of the recommendations of the world health organization (WHO) for promoting maternal health. Moreover, to provide adequate services in care models, the experiences and perceptions of mothers, providers of prenatal care, and other stakeholders should be taken into consideration. Objectives: A systematic meta-synthesis was carried out to inquire into the findings of some qualitative studies aimed to explore the concept and dimensions of continuous midwifery care including experiences, perspectives and perceptions of engaged people. Data Sources: This study was the first step of an action research designed to develop a midwifery model of care. Qualitative research articles published between 2005 and 2015 on experiences, attitudes, expectations and opinions of stakeholders in models of midwifery care were collected from Google scholar, Elsevier, and PubMed databases. Study Selection: Following the various stages of the scrutiny of the abstracts and contents of the collected articles, five faculty members finally selected 21 qualitative research articles as eligible for inclusion in the meta-synthesis. Results: The findings of meta-synthesis showed that continuous midwifery care for pregnantwomenas a highly important process revolves around at least five basic themes: continuity of care, compliance with needs satisfaction levels, regulation of care environment, and the philosophy of providing continuous care. Conclusions: Given the importance of access to healthcare as a right for pregnant women and given the key role of continuous midwifery care in health promotion and maternal satisfaction, it is suggested based on the results of the study that rigorous local and national research in this area to be carried out so that adequate models of continuous midwifery care can be designed and implemented based on the findings

    Procedural Complications During Early Versus Late Endovascular Treatment in Acute Stroke: Frequency and Clinical Impact

    BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Endovascular treatment (EVT) in acute ischemic stroke is effective in the late time window in selected patients. However, the frequency and clinical impact of procedural complications in the early versus late time window has received little attention. METHODS: We retrospectively studied all acute ischemic strokes from 2015 to 2019 receiving EVT in the Acute Stroke Registry and Analysis of Lausanne. We compared the procedural EVT complications in the early (<6 hours) versus late (6-24 hours) window and correlated them with short-term clinical outcome. RESULTS: Among 695 acute ischemic strokes receiving EVT (of which 202 were in the late window), 113 (16.3%) had at least one procedural complication. The frequency of each single, and for overall procedural complications was similar for early versus late EVT (16.2% versus 16.3%, Padj=0.90). Procedural complications lead to a significantly less favorable short-term outcome, reflected by the absence of National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale improvement in late EVT (delta-National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale-24 hours, -2.5 versus 2, Padj=0.01). CONCLUSIONS: In this retrospective analysis of consecutive EVT, the frequency of procedural complications was similar for early and late EVT patients but very short-term outcome seemed less favorable in late EVT patients with complications

Phase one: Determine of dietary protein and energy l eve in tanks (300 liters) treatment with triplicate e in different level of protein (25 ,30 ,35 percentage) and three level of energy (250 ,300 ,350 kcal/gr) the result showed that the best (GSR and WG) belongs to diet with protein % 35 and 300 kcal/gr. this experiment showed with increased of protein , SGR and WG increased and the one special level of protein with increased of energy level ,first SGR and WG increased (the most of SGR belonged 300 kcal/gr) ,and SGR decreased. Phase 2 : Determine optimum lipid to carbohydrate ratio in tanks (300 liters) In this phase with suitable level of protein and energy( protein %35 and 300kcal/gr) determined 5 ratio of carbohydrate and lipid (0.8, 2.8, 4.86, 8.8 ) in this phase best diet determined with 4/8 ratio , and 6/8 , 2/8 ratios were after that carbohydrate and lipid ratio. Phase 3: Determine optimum lipid to carbohydrate ratio in pond: In this phase, the result of thirty phase were like second phase. we determined that the best SGR and WG and WG % belonged to 4/8 carbohydrate and lipid ratio and 6/8 2/8 ratio were after 4/8 carbohydrate and lipid rate

    Early-versus-Late Endovascular Stroke Treatment: Similar Frequencies of Nonrevascularization and Postprocedural Cerebrovascular Complications in a Large Single-Center Cohort Study.

    Endovascular treatment of acute ischemic stroke is now performed more frequently in the late window in radiologically selected patients. However, little is known about whether the frequency and clinical impact of incomplete recanalization and postprocedural cerebrovascular complications differ between early and late windows in the real world. We retrospectively reviewed all patients with acute ischemic stroke receiving endovascular treatment within 24 hours from 2015 to 2019 and included in the Acute STroke Registry and Analysis of Lausanne. We compared rates of incomplete recanalization and postprocedural cerebrovascular complications (parenchymal hematoma, ischemic mass effect, and 24-hour re-occlusion) in the early (&lt;6 hours) versus late window (6-24 hours, including patients with unknown onset) populations and correlated them with the 3-month clinical outcome. Among 701 patients with acute ischemic stroke receiving endovascular treatment, 29.2% had late endovascular treatment. Overall, incomplete recanalization occurred in 56 patients (8%), and 126 patients (18%) had at least 1 postprocedural cerebrovascular complication. The frequency of incomplete recanalization was similar in early and late endovascular treatment (7.5% versus 9.3%, adjusted P =.66), as was the occurrence of any postprocedural cerebrovascular complication (16.9% versus 20.5%, adjusted P = .36). When analyzing single postprocedural cerebrovascular complications, rates of parenchymal hematoma and ischemic mass effect were similar (adjusted P = .71, adjusted P = .79, respectively), but 24-hour re-occlusion seemed somewhat more frequent in late endovascular treatment (4% versus 8.3%, unadjusted P = .02, adjusted P = .40). The adjusted 3-month clinical outcome in patients with incomplete recanalization or postprocedural cerebrovascular complications was comparable between early and late groups (adjusted P = .67, adjusted P = .23, respectively). The frequency of incomplete recanalization and of cerebrovascular complications occurring after endovascular treatment is similar in early and well-selected late patients receiving endovascular treatment. Our results demonstrate the technical success and safety of endovascular treatment in well-selected late patients with acute ischemic stroke
