This support is gratefully acknowledged.Eco-responsible transportation contributes at making a difference for companies devoted to product delivery operations. Two specific problems related to operations are the location of charging stations and the routing of electric vehicles. The first one involves locating new facilities on potential sites to minimise an objective function related to fixed and operational opening costs. The other one, electric vehicle routing problem, involves the consolidation of an electric-type fleet in order to meet a particular demand and some guidelines to optimise costs. It is determined by the distance travelled, considering the limited autonomy of the fleet, and can be restored by recharging its battery. The literature provides several solutions for locating and routing problems and contemplates restrictions that are closer to reality. However, there is an evident lack of techniques that addresses both issues simultaneously. The present article offers four solution strategies for the location of charging stations and a heuristic solution for fleet routing. The best results were obtained by applying the location strategy at the site of the client (relaxation of the VRP) to address the routing problem, but it must be considered that there are no displacements towards the recharges. Of all the other three proposals, K-means showed the best performance when locating the charging stations at the centroid of the cluster. © 2012-2018. A flexible mathematical model for the planning and designing of a sporting fixture by considering the assignment of referees

Indexación: Scopus. This paper deals with the problems faced with the designing and planning of a sporting fixture considering correct referee assignments. A non-linear binary program model is proposed to solve the problems, which aims to minimize the sums of the differences that exist between the requirements of each match and the quality of the referee assigned achieving the design of the most adequate referee for each match. The efficiency of the proposed model is proved using some real data obtained from various fixtures for sports such as soccer, volleyball, and basketball. The mathematical model is solved by using CPLEX 12.7.0., which allows the automatic linearization of the problems. The results obtained demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed methodology for tackling problems, as well as its extension to other sporting disciplines, which require a similar type of planning. Similarly, given the robust nature of the proposed model, it is possible to implement other objective functions in accordance with the requirements of each league. © 2019 by the authors; licensee Growing Science, Canada.http://growingscience.com/beta/ijiec/2960-a-flexible-mathematical-model-for-the-planning-and-designing-of-a-sporting-fixture-by-considering-the-assignment-of-referees.htm

    Local Detection of Entanglement

We construct an explicit model where it can be established if a two mode pure Gaussian system is entangled or not by acting only on one of the parts that constitute the system. Measuring the dispersion in momentum and the time evolution of the dispersion in position of one particle we can tell if entanglement is present as well as the degree of entanglement of the system.Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures, title changed, published version: to appear in European Physical Journal

Una comparación de algoritmos basados en trayectoria granular para el problema de localización y ruteo con flota heterogénea (LRPH)

Indexación: Scopus. We consider the Location-Routing Problem with Heterogeneous Fleet (LRPH) in which the goal is to determine the depots to be opened, the customers to be assigned to each open depot, and the corresponding routes fulfilling the demand of the customers and by considering a heterogeneous fleet. We propose a comparison of granular approaches of Simulated Annealing (GSA), of Variable Neighborhood Search (GVNS) and of a probabilistic Tabu Search (pGTS) for the LRPH. Thus, the proposed approaches consider a subset of the search space in which non-favorable movements are discarded regarding a granularity factor. The proposed algorithms are experimentally compared for the solution of the LRPH, by taking into account the CPU time and the quality of the solutions obtained on the instances adapted from the literature. The computational results show that algorithm GSA is able to obtain high quality solutions within short CPU times, improving the results obtained by the other proposed approaches.https://revistas.unal.edu.co/index.php/dyna/article/view/55533/5896

Evaluation of highland cassava for starch production in Colombia

In Cauca region (Colombia) of an altitude of (1300-2200 m snm) cassava is grown mainly for the production of fermented starch (15 000 T/year) used in traditional bread and expended products well appreciated for the consumers (pandebono ; Pan de yucca : buñuelos). The main objectives of the study is to analyze the evolution of the roots composition for new CIAT altitude cassava varieties during its grown, to evaluate the best harvest season and to point out the differences between varieties. Twelve varieties has been harvested in two villages (1740 m); Popayan, and Cajibio, the dry matter-content (DM), density, starch content, starch extraction yield, cyanide content, sensory evaluation of the roots and the functional properties of the starch has been evaluated in four different cropping seasons (12 ;13 ;14 ;15 months). Dry matter-content varies from 32 and 45% (x=38%). Starch content varies between 52 and 95% (x=82%). The starch extraction yields varies between 61 and 99% (x = 89,3%). This study shows that all cassava altitude varieties have low cyanide content (30-360 ppm), most of them qualify to be eaten fresh. Globally, the varieties have good taste features. According to the functional properties of starch, cassava starch grown in altitude shows a higher viscosity, two picks in the amylogram profile and a lower pasting temperature in relation to the world collection diversity. The parameters DM, density and starch extraction yield, as the sensory evaluation value are highly correlated together (t-Pearson; 0,01). This assay proves that the parameters of dry matter-content and density of roots are the best indicators for its maturity calculation. This essay will allow in the future recommending the most appropriate varieties to the small holders, producers and consumers in the Cauca region and others tropical altitude countries. SENSING IMMOBILIZED MOLECULES OF STREPTAVIDIN ON A SILICON SURFACE BY MALDI-TOF MASS SPECTROMETRY AND FLUORESCENCE MICROSCOPY

Indexación: Web of Science; Scielo.A hydrogen-terminated Si (111) surface was modified to form an aminoterminated monolayer for immobilization of streptavidin. Cleavage of an N-(ω-undecylenyl)-phthalimide covered surface using hidrazine yields an amino group-modified surface, which serves as a substrate for the attachment of biotin and subsequently streptavidin. We used surface analytical techniques to characterize the surface and to control the course of functionalization before the immobilization of streptavidin. To confirm the presence of the streptavidin Texas red on the surface two powerful techniques available in a standard biochemical laboratory are used, Fluorescence Microscopy and MALDI-TOF that allow us to detect and determine the immobilized streptavidin. This work provides an avenue for the development of devices in which the exquisite binding specificity of biomolecular recognition is directly coupled to a biosensor. In addition, we have demonstrated that MALDI-TOF and fluorescence microscopy are useful techniques for the characterization of silicon functionalized surfaces.http://ref.scielo.org/gm87c

Flavor Delta(54) in SU(5) SUSY Model

We design a supersymmetric SU (5) GUT model using \Delta (54), a finite non-abelian subgroup of SU (3)f . Heavy right handed neutrinos are introduced which transform as three-dimensional repre-sentation of our chosen family group. The model successfully reproduces the mass hierarchical mass structures of the Standard Model, and the CKM mixing matrix. It then provides predictions for the light neutrino with a normal hierarchy and masses such that m{\nu},1 \approx 5\times10-3 eV, m{\nu}, 2 \approx 1\times 10-2 eV, and m{\nu},3 \approx 5 \times 10-2 eV. We also provide predictions for masses of the heavy neutrinos, and correc- tions to the tri-bimaximal matrix that fit within experimental limits, e.g. a reactor angle of -7.31o. A simple modification to our model is introduced at the end and is shown to also produce predictions that fall well within those limits.Comment: 22 page
