Synthesis, characterization, and biological evaluation of new oxime-phosphazenes
Hexachlorocylotriphosphazene (1) was reacted with 4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde to give hexakis[(4-formyl-2-methoxy)phenoxy]cyclotriphosphazene (2). Hexakis[(4-(hydroxyimino)2-methoxy)phenoxy]cyclotriphosphazene (3) was synthesized by reaction of 2 with hydroxlamine hydrochloride in pyridine. Compound 3 was reacted with benzyl chloride, acetyl chloride, allyl bromide, benzoyl chloride, propanoyl chloride, 4-methoxybenzoyl chloride, 2-chlorobenzoyl chloride, chloroacetyl chloride, methyl iodide, and thiophene-2-carbonyl chloride. From these reactions, full or partially substituted compounds were obtained, usually in high yields. Pure or defined products could not be obtained from reaction of 3 with methacryloyl chloride and O-acetylsalicyloyl chloride. The structures of the compounds were determined by elemental analysis, and IR, 1H, 13C, and 31P NMR spectroscopy. The synthesized compounds were screened for in-vitro antimicrobial activity against two Gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus and Enterococcus faecalis), two gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumonia), and fungal strains (Aspergillus niger, and Candida albicans) by the agar well diffusion method. Few compounds had significant activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. None of the compounds had antifungal activity except compounds 7 and 9, which had moderate activity.Sponsor Kurum Adı: Fırat Üniversitesi

Synthesis, characterization and dielectric properties of phosphazenes containing chalcones
The new hexasubstitue-cyclophosphazene compounds containing chalcone derivatives (2–11) were obtained from the reactions of hexachlorocyclotriphosphazene (1) with several hydroxy chalcones in K2CO3/acetone system. All products were generally obtained in high yields. The structures of the compounds were defined by elemental analysis, FT-IR, 1H, 13C and 31P NMR spectroscopy. Dielectric measurements for phosphazenes containing chalcone compounds (5–8) were carried out by means of an impedance analyzer as a function of temperature and frequency. Dielectric properties of samples prepared in a plate form were measured at room temperature over the frequency range 50 Hz to 2 kHz and given as compared with each other
First-line treatment of patients with HER2-positive metastatic gastric and gastroesophageal junction cancer
Fluoropyrimidine+cisplatin/oxaliplatin+trastuzumab therapy is recommended for the first-line treatment of HER2-positive metastatic gastric adenocarcinoma. However, there is no comprehensive study on which platinum-based treatment should be preferred. This study aimed to compare the treatment response and survival characteristics of patients with HER2-positive metastatic gastric or gastroesophageal junction (GEJ) cancer who received fluorouracil, oxaliplatin, and leucovorin (mFOLFOX)+trastuzumab or cisplatin and fluorouracil (CF)+trastuzumab as first-line therapy. It was a multicenter, retrospective study of the Turkish Oncology Group, which included 243 patients from 21 oncology centers. There were 113 patients in the mFOLFOX+trastuzumab arm and 130 patients in the CF+trastuzumab arm. The median age was 62 years in the mFOLFOX+trastuzumab arm and 61 years in the CF+trastuzumab arm (P = 0.495). 81.4% of patients in the mFOLFOX+trastuzumab arm and 83.1% in the CF+trastuzumab arm had gastric tumor localization (P = 0.735). The median progression-free survival (PFS) was significantly higher in the mFOLFOX+trastuzumab arm (9.4 months vs. 7.3 months, P = 0.024). The median overall survival (OS) was similar in both groups (18.4 months vs. 15.1 months, P = 0.640). Maintenance trastuzumab was continued after chemotherapy in 101 patients. In this subgroup, the median OS was 23.3 months and the median PFS was 13.3 months. In conclusion, mFOLFOX+trastuzumab is similar to CF+trastuzumab in terms of the median OS, but it is more effective in terms of the median PFS in the first-line treatment of HER2-positive metastatic gastric and GEJ cancer. The choice of treatment should be made by considering the prominent toxicity findings of the chemotherapy regimens
Digital Storytelling in Secondary School Turkish Courses in Turkey
This study aimed to evaluate the digital story-telling activities in Secondary School Turkish textbooks and curriculum. It also sought to determine the learners and teachers’ opinions about digital storytelling activities. The study was designed using the basic qualitative model. The research had two different study groups consisting of students and Turkish language teachers. The data were obtained through the 2018 Turkish curriculum, Turkish textbooks and interview forms. Content and descriptive analysis techniques were used. According to the results, a total of eight learning objectives were found in the 2018 Turkish Curriculum about story writing skills. However, there were no learning objectives related to digital storytelling. No text and activity related to the ability to create digital stories were encountered in the textbooks. Most of the teachers stated that the activities that would be done by creating digital stories would contribute to the language development of the students, and that the ability to create digital stories should be included in the Turkish curriculum. It was found that most of the students wanted to have digital story production activities in Turkish courses, and that they would be interested in preparing their stories with computers. They preferred creating a story by computers instead of writing a story in traditional ways
Developing a Story Writing Attitude Scale for Secondary School Students
The aim of this study is to develop a measurement tool to measure the attitude towards story writing. Validity and reliability studies of the scale, applied to 243 secondary school students, were carried out with exploratory factor analysis, measurement of internal consistency and confirmatory factor analysis. EFA revealed that the scale had three dimensions as planned in the original. Cronbach Alpha internal consistency coefficient was calculated as 0.95 in order to determine the reliability of the scale. Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) coefficient was found as 0.94 in principal component analysis. In addition, the Barlett Sphericity test was significant (χ2 = 3529,500; p<0,01). Factor loads as a result of varimax rotation varies between 0.43 and 0.80. In CFA, it was stated that the standardized regression coefficients varied between 0.51 and 0.81, and that the items in each dimension had a significant predictive power. As a result of the analysis, a valid and reliable scale was obtained. In addition, the attitudes of 243 secondary school students towards story writing were investigated. As a result of the data, it was observed that students had a positive attitude towards story writing
Adaptation, reliability and validity study of the Inventory of Socially Supportive Behaviors
Objective: To test the reliability and the validity of the Turkish version of the Inventory of Socially Supportive Behaviors (ISSB) that measures the amount of social support received within the last month. Methods: The scale is made up of three subscales, namely, guidance, emotional support, and tangible assistance, which measure the amount of received social support. The sample consisted of 317 Middle East Technical University students from different departments and various grades. Besides ISSB, Beck Depression Inventory and the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support were administered to the participants to test the validity of the Turkish version of the scale. Results: The results of the factor analysis were consistent with the previous studies. The analyses showed that the Turkish form of ISSB has satisfactory reliability and validity values. Discussion: The results of the study, which was conducted due to the need for a Turkish received social support scale, were discussed in the light of the relevant literature.
