Konferans Bildirisi -- Teorik ve Uygulamalı Mekanik Türk Milli Komitesi, 2015Conference Paper -- Theoretical and Applied Mechanical Turkish National Committee, 2015Bu çalışmada kesme ve eksenel basma yükü altında, tabakalı karbon fiber takviyeli kompozit bir plakanın burkulma öncesi ve sonrası davranışları araştırılmıştır. Eksenel basma yükünün yanında eş zamanlı kesme yüküne de maruz kalan kiriş destekli plakalarda, özellikle burkulma sonrası davranışların oldukça karmaşık olmasından dolayı sonlu elemanlar yöntemi gibi sayısal tabanlı bir çözücü olmadan panel davranışlarını hesaplamak oldukça zordur. Bu çalışmada, sonlu elemanlar modelleme yönteminin doğrulanması ve hassasiyet çalışmalarının tamamlanmasının ardından, kiriş destekli plakanın burkulma ve burkulma sonrasındaki davranışında eksenel basma yükünün yanında kesme yükünün de etkisi incelenmiştir. In this study, the buckling and post buckling behavior of stiffened carbon fiber reinforced composite panels under compressive axial and shear combined loading were investigated. When both shear and axial load (tension or compression) act on a stiffened panel at the same time, the state of stress developing in the post-buckling skin is quite complicated. The necessary computational model is usually based on Finite Element Modelling (FEM). In this study after verifying the FEMand completing the sensitivity studies; the buckling and post buckling phenomenons were examined in order to see the effects of shear loading as well as the axial compressive loading on a stiffened composite panel

DergiPark: 379062tmsjAims: The ratio of the second-to-fourth finger length was first proposed as a prenatal testosterone biomarker. Studying this matter with a different point of view, the aim of this study is to find whether there is a positive relationship between digit ratio and cardiovascular capacity. Methods: The data of 82 students who were between the ages of 18 and 25 old from Trakya University Faculty of Medicine were analyzed by evaluating the results of the six-minute walking test and the results of their digit measurements. Independent Samples T-Test was used to determine the correlation between the prevalence of longer 4th digit and six-minute walking test results. Results: The data obtained from the test results of the students, that were grouped regarding digit ratio, were statistically evaluated. With the results of the six-minute walking test, students that have lower digit ratio walked 593.87 ± 73.2 meters while students with higher digit ratio walked 584.17 ± 71 meters showing us that there is not a significant relationship between cardiovascular capacity and digit ratio. Conclusion: With the gathered information and results, it is seen that there is not a positive relationship between digit ratio and cardiovascular capacity. In conclusion it can be said that digit ratio does not have a beneficial effect on a persons cardiovascular capacity. Usage of digit ratio as a prenatal hormone exposure has been increasing, and extensive studies in physiological and psychological conditions in humans have been correlated with digit ratio, including athletic ability, fertility, social behaviors, sex-biased diseases, and sexual orientatio

Comparison of serum adiponectin and osteopontin levels along with metabolic risk factors between obese and lean women with and without PCOS

Introduction: The objective of this study was to investigate the possible relation between serum adiponectin and osteopontin levels as metabolic risk markers among women with different polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) phenotypes. Material and methods: In a University Hospital setting PCOS patients diagnosed according to Rotterdam Consensus Conference criteria with body mass index (BMI) between 18 and 35 were recruited. Results: Overall, 57 PCOS patients and 57 age- and BMI-matched healthy controls were included in the study. Luteinising hormone (LH) to follicle-stimulating hormone FSH ratio (LH/FSH), free androgen index (FAI), and dehydroepiandrosterone sulphate (DHEAS-S) was found to be significantly higher in women with PCOS. There was significant interaction between PCOS status and obesity for serum adiponectin levels. Although mean adiponectin and osteopontin levels were similar among cases and controls, a further two-way ANOVA comparison within lean and obese subgroups revealed adiponectin to be significantly lower in lean PCOS women than in lean controls. LH/FSH ratio and adiponectin levels were all found to differ between lean counterparts; however, they did not show any correlation with metabolic markers [cholesterol, homeostatic model assessment (HOMA) or C-reactive protein (CRP) levels] in overall lean women or in the lean PCOS subgroup. Conclusion: Serum adiponectin levels in lean PCOS women were significantly lower than those in lean controls. On the other hand, mean adiponectin and osteopontin levels were similar in PCOS cases and controls overall

Background: Adductor canal block (ACB) provides effective analgesia management after arthroscopic knee surgery. However, there is insufficient data about performing ACB before or after inflation of a thigh tourniquet. We aimed to investigate the efficacy of ACB when it is performed before and after thigh tourniquet and evaluate motor weakness. Methods: ACB was performed before the tourniquet inflation in the PreT group, it was performed after the inflation of the tourniquet in the PostT group. In the PO group, ACB was performed at the end of surgery after disinflation of the tourniquet. Results: There were no statistical differences between the groups in terms of demographic data. Opioid consumption showed no statistically significant differences (for total consumption; p = 0.5). The amount of rescue analgesia administered and patient satisfaction were also not significantly different between groups. There was no significant difference in terms of static and dynamic VAS scores between groups (for 24 hours; p = 0.3, p = 0.2 respectively). The incidence of motor block was higher in the PreT group (eight patients) than in the PostT group (no patients) and in the PO group (only one patient) (p = 0.005). Conclusions: Using a tourniquet before or after ACB may not result in any differences in terms of analgesia; however, applying a tourniquet immediately after ACB may lead to muscle weakness

Objective: To report a case with Crigler-Najjar syndrome type 2 of elevated bilirubin levels who was treated with triple therapy. Case(s): Crigler-Najjar syndrome is a rare congenital disorder that causes non-obstructive non-hemolytic unconjugated jaundice. The syndrome is divided into two groups according to the severity and the clinical presentation of the disease. In these cases, there is an elevated risk of antenatal death or permanent neurological impairment of the fetus due to fetal kernicterus caused by excessively increased unconjugated bilirubin levels. Phototherapy, phenobarbital and plasmapheresis can be useful in reducing serum total bilirubin concentrations, thus adverse maternal and neonatal risks. Conclusion: At her 37 weeks of gestation, the patient delivered a healthy girl. No pathological neurological findings were found and the baby had normal growth with intact neurological development
