The aim of this research study is to investigate children’s play skills in terms of social behaviours (physical aggression, relational aggression, positive social behaviors, and depressive feelings). The participants in this study consisted of 300 children between 60 and 72 months studying at preschool education institutions. The research data were collected via the “Preschool Social Behaviour Scale-Instructer Form” and the “Play Skills Assessment Scale”. Pearson’s correlsation analysis and simple linear regression analysis were performed to evaluate the data. The results of the research study indicate that there is a significant positive correlation between children’s positive social behaviours and play skills while there is a significant negative relationship between children’s play skills and the subscales of physical aggression, relational aggression, and depressive feelings. Besides, the results indicate that children’s social behaviours (physical aggression, relational aggression, positive social behaviors and depressive feelings) are predictive of play skills. It can be concluded that 16.8% of total variance is explained by the subscales “positive social behaviors”, 9.6% is explained by “relational aggression”, 2.4% is explained “physical aggression” and 1.2% is explained by “depressive feelings”

The main purpose of this research study is to determine the readability levels of Internet-based informative texts on “family involvement”. Content analysis of the documents was carried out in the study, which is in qualitative design. Initially, a search was made on the Google search engine using the keywords “family involment.” Next, the readability levels of the first 100 web pages accessed were assessed within the scope of the study. It was decided to include 42 web pages in assessment as a result of reviewing the first 100 web pages accessed applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria defined by the researchers. Later, the readability values of the texts were calculated manually through Office programs using both the Ateşman and Çetinkaya-Uzun formulas. The average readability levels of the 42 web pages examined within the scope of this study were found to be “difficult” according to the Ateşman formula. On the other hand, the readability levels were found to be at “frustration level” and appropriate for grade levels 10, 11 and 12 according to the Çetinkaya-Uzun formula. As a result, it was determined that the readability levels of the informative texts on 42 web pages about family involvement were "difficult" and at “frustration level" according to the formulas used in the analysis. The web pages in assessment were observed to belong to private kindergartens, publishing houses, academic journals, and private educational institutions. The titles mainly included in the content of the web pages were related to the definition, significance, impacts, benefits and examples of family involvement. Although studies on family involvement in the literature are mostly associated with the preschool education processes of individuals, it was seen that this concept is also associated with the education processes of individuals with special needs and dependent individuals on the web pages.&nbsp

The first institution in which a child interacts with his/her social environment is the family. At this point, parenting practices take their place as an important concept in the literature. The concept of social competence is based on the interaction of individuals with sociocultural contexts such as family, school, and peer relations. Early childhood is a critical phase for promoting social competence in children. In this sense, the research examines the relationship between the parenting practices of parents and their children's social development. A relational screening method was used in the quantitative designed research. In the first step of the study, the validity and reliability analyses of the Social Skills Scale for Preschool Children (SSS) were made. 301 parents participated in the analyses. In the second step of the study, the relationship between children's social development indicators and their parents' parenting practices was examined. In this context, 226 children and their parents participated in this study. In the study, the Personal Information Form, and SSS filled by teachers for children to evaluate children's social skills, and the Parenting Practices Scale-Preschool Form to evaluate parenting practices of the parents of the children participating in the research were used. It was concluded that the SSS for preschool children, which was adapted into Turkish within the scope of the study, consisted of three sub-dimensions. These are; cooperation, self-control, and interpersonal relationships. According to the results of the reliability analysis of the scale, the total α coefficient was .96, while the total variance explained because of the construct validity was 69,66. According to the results of the research, the SSS consisting of 3 factors and 24 items adapted into Turkish is a valid and reliable tool. In the study, the correlation value between the scales was also calculated to examine the relationship between children's social development indicators and their parents' parenting practices, and no significant relationship was found between the scales

35th International Conference of the Polymer Processing Society, PPS (2019 ; Cesme-Izmir, Turkey)Carbon fibers (CF) are excellent reinforcers for thermoplastic polymer composites owing to their high thermal and mechanical properties. However, their applications are mostly limited to high-end applications such as in aerospace industries due to their relatively higher cost. In this study, it was aimed to improve the properties of CF - polypropylene (PP) composites by supporting the matrix with microfibrillar PETs. Low cost recycled PET (rPET) flakes from used PET bottles were in-situ converted into PET fibers during compounding of carbon fibers and PP matrix. Seven different composites were prepared with different rPET contents up to 15 phr, in order to understand the rPET's effect on the physical and mechanical properties of the composites. Maleic anhydride grafted PP (MA-g-PP) compatibilizer was used to improve interfacial adhesion between PP and both of CF and rPET. Additionally, the effect of the compatibilizer content on the mechanical properties was investigated by studying compounds of varying compatibilizer content (0wt%, 2.5wt% and 5wt%). The CF content was fixed to 10wt% in all composites. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) studies showed the formation of microfibrillar PETs in CF-PP composite matrix. In addition, coupling efficiency of the compatibilizer was investigated. Mechanical characterization results showed that the in-situ formation of rPET microfibrils in CF-PP composites significantly improves the tensile, flexural and Izod impact properties. The orientation of the CFs and rPET microfibrils during injection molding process affect the tensile and flexural strength of the composites. © 2020 Author(s)
