Photometry of the Didymos System across the DART Impact Apparition

    Get PDF
On 2022 September 26, the Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) spacecraft impacted Dimorphos, the satellite of binary near-Earth asteroid (65803) Didymos. This demonstrated the efficacy of a kinetic impactor for planetary defense by changing the orbital period of Dimorphos by 33 minutes. Measuring the period change relied heavily on a coordinated campaign of lightcurve photometry designed to detect mutual events (occultations and eclipses) as a direct probe of the satellite’s orbital period. A total of 28 telescopes contributed 224 individual lightcurves during the impact apparition from 2022 July to 2023 February. We focus here on decomposable lightcurves, i.e., those from which mutual events could be extracted. We describe our process of lightcurve decomposition and use that to release the full data set for future analysis. We leverage these data to place constraints on the postimpact evolution of ejecta. The measured depths of mutual events relative to models showed that the ejecta became optically thin within the first ∼1 day after impact and then faded with a decay time of about 25 days. The bulk magnitude of the system showed that ejecta no longer contributed measurable brightness enhancement after about 20 days postimpact. This bulk photometric behavior was not well represented by an HG photometric model. An HG 1 G 2 model did fit the data well across a wide range of phase angles. Lastly, we note the presence of an ejecta tail through at least 2023 March. Its persistence implied ongoing escape of ejecta from the system many months after DART impact

On potential theory for the generalized bi-axially symmetric elliptic equation in the plane

    Get PDF
Fundamental solutions of the generalized biaxially symmetric elliptic equation are expressed in terms of the well-known Appel hypergeometric function in two variables, the properties of which are necessary for studying boundary value problems for the above equation. In this paper, using some properties of the Appel hypergeometric function, we prove limit theorems and derive integral equations for the double- and simple-layer potentials and apply the results of the constructed potential theory to the study of the Dirichlet problem for a two-dimensional elliptic equation with two singular coefficients in a domain bounded in the first quarter of the plane

The role of digitalization of agriculture in increasing the competitiveness of the domestic agro-industrial complex (AIC) is indicated. In order to obtain an objective picture of the current state of the agro-industrial complex, the supply of the Republic of Uzbekistan with basic types of food has been analyzed and problems with the production of milk, beef, fruits and vegetables of the protected ground have been identified. It is noted that currently Uzbekistan is actively implementing import substitution strategies in the sectors of the national economy, including in the agricultural sector. The main purpose of the functioning of the domestic agro-industrial complex is determined ensuring food security parameters for the population of Uzbekistan. Investigated actual questions about how to achieve foodstuff - governmental self-sufficiency, the solution of which should be carried out in conjunction with an increase in the competitiveness of the Patriotic governmental APC. Emphasis is placed on the need to transfer agricultural production to the ecological and economic foundations of management and the rational distribution of the use of all types of resources. In each region of the country, it is recommended that the soil, climatic and economic potential of the territory be assessed in order to identify food self-sufficiency priorities for basic types of food. The development of the organizational and economic mechanism for the formation of competitive advantages of the agro industrial complex makes it possible to develop agricultural production on an innovative basis and ensure food safety at the state level in the long term. The factors of increasing the competitiveness of the agro-industrial complex were identified: economic soil fertility, used agricultural land, optimization of the structure of sown areas, systematic development of feed production and livestock production, digitalization of agriculture, etc. The problems of the insufficient prevalence of digital technologies in agriculture are analyzed. Substantiates the role of digitalization and to achieve the parameters of Prodo -food security. The results of the study can be used to improve the mechanism for ensuring food security of the population of Uzbekistan

The article discusses the traditions of building hydraulic structures in difficult terrain since ancient times. The unique characteristics of the landscape and socio-economic conditions in the territory of Uzbekistan have led to the development of hydrotechnical structures from the simplest local building materials - stone, wood, clay. In the past, it was possible to build large irrigation facilities, create dams, distribution irrigation facilities, etc., to transport water over difficult terrain. A large part of the experience of the past does not lose its importance even today, especially in the rural areas. Therefore, hydraulic engineering deserves the attention of modern researchers

STUDY OF THE MORPHOLOGICAL AND ELECTRICAL PROPERTIES OF FILMS OF SOLID SOLUTION ZnXSn1-хSe OBTAINED BY THE METHOD OF CMBD

    Get PDF
The ZnXSn1-XSe solid solution films were fabricated by the chemical molecular beam deposition (CMBD) method. The sources used were ZnSe and SnSe compounds of stoichiometric composition at the substrate temperature of 5600С. The morphological and electrophysical properties of the ZnXSn1-XSe solid solution films are investigated. Scanning electron microscope images showed that the grain sizes of the films are 8÷20 microns. The structural parameters of the obtained films are given. The electrical conductivity of the films was 15 ÷ 1 • 10-6 (Ohm·cm) -1 depending on the composition of the solid solution
