Effects of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi (AMF) on Heavy Metal and Salt Stress

    Get PDF
The Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) are microorganisms that live symbiotically with plant roots and have many benefits to soil and plants. In this study, some effects of AMF which are known to be soil and plant beneficial, have been evaluated and solution proposals have been put forward against heavy metal and salinity stress in the soil. Salt accumulation and high concentrations of heavy metal in the soil affects negatively the microbial diversity and activity. Removal of salt acumulation and heavy metal from contaminated soil by chemical and physical methods is both very expensive and ineffective. Therefore, AMF are important for alleviating the heavy metal and salt stress in plants. AMF can alter plant physiol¬ogy and root morphology, increase the uptake of nutrients and water from the soil through an extensive hyphal network, decrease the use of chemical fertilizer, interact with other soil microorganisms plant growth promoting, induce of some resistance parameters in the plants and produce the glomalin which develops the properties and structure of soil. AMF are eco-friendly solutions according to traditional methods and the use of suitable plant-fungi combinations increases the chances of success of these applications

AMAÇ Multipl miyelomun vertebral tutulumu olan hastalarda perkütan vertebroplastinin (PV) etkinliğini, faydalarını ve güvenilirliğini değerlendirmeyi amaçladık. YÖNTEMLER Multipl miyelomlu 41 hastanın 166 omurunda uygulanan PV prosedürleri geriye dönük olarak değerlendirildi. Hastalarımızın çoğu seviye 3 (orta ila şiddetli ağrı) analjezik kullanıyordu. İşlemden önce multipl miyelomun vertebral tutulumunu değerlendirmek için manyetik rezonans görüntüleme yapıldı. Aşağıdaki değişkenler değerlendirildi: etkilenen vertebral seviyeler, vertebral vücut yüksekliği kaybı, PV sırasında vertebral gövdeye uygulanan polimetilmetakrilat (PMMA) çimento miktarı, PMMA çimento sızıntıları ve PV öncesi ve sonrası ağrı, görsel analog skala (VAS) ile değerlendirildi. .

Distinctively Different Phenotypes of Two Cases with a Rare Karyotype of 45,X/47,XYY Mosaicism: Case Report and Literature Review

The 45,X/47,XYY mosaicism is an extremely rare genetic disorder with highly phenotypic manifestations such as ovotesticular disorders of sexual development, mixed gonadal dysgenesis and Turner syndrome. Herein, we report two cases with very distinctive phenotypes despite having the same sex chromosome mosaicism of 45,X/47,XYY. It should be kept in mind that the rare type of sex chromosome mosaicism of 45,X/47,XYY may present with genital phenotypes ranging from normal female to male characteristics

Objectives: To evaluate the real-world outcomes of intravitreal anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) treatment in neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) patients. Materials and Methods: Multicenter, retrospective, interventional, non-comparative study. The records of nAMD patients treated with an anti-VEGF agent on a pro re nata treatment regimen basis between January 2013 and December 2015 were reviewed. The patients who completed a follow-up period of 12 months were included. Primary outcome measures of this study were the visit and injection numbers during the first year. Results: Eight hundred eighty eyes of 783 patients met the inclusion criteria for the study. Mean number of visits at month 12 was 6.9±2.5 (range: 1-15). Mean number of injections at month 12 was 4.1±1.9 (range: 1-11). Mean visual acuity at baseline and months 3, 6, and 12 was 0.90±0.63 LogMAR (range: 0.0-3.0), 0.79±0.57 LogMAR (range: 0.0-3.0), 0.76±0.57 LogMAR (range: 0.0-3.0), and 0.79±0.59 LogMAR (range: 0.0-3.0), respectively. Mean central retinal thickness at baseline and months 6 and 12 was 395±153 μm (range: 91-1582), 330±115 μm (range: 99-975), and 332±114 μm (range: 106-1191), respectively. Conclusion: The numbers of visits and injections were much lower than ideal and were insufficient with the pro re nata treatment regimen

INVESTIGATION OF DEFORMATION TEMPERATURES AND STRAIN RATE EFFECTS' ON THE MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF Al 99.0

The effects of deformation temperature and strain rate to the mechanical properties of Aluminum (Al 99.0) were investigated by tensile experiment at different deformation temperatures and strain rate. At the end of investigation; it was determined that, with increasing deformation temperature, yield and tensile strenghts of the material decrease, strain rate and decrease of area increase, when plastic deformation exponent (n) decreases, strain rate accuracy exponent (m) increases. At a fixed temperature an increase in deformation speed increased all mechanical properties
