    Sağlıklı İletişimi Güçlendirmede Ergen Annelerine Yönelik Grupla Psikolojik Danışma Nasıl İşler?

    Adolescence is a developmental stage in which significant changes are experienced. Although some adolescents have achieved successful completion of this stage, some may be in need of professional help. Providing psychological support for the adolescents and their families will contribute to the healthy development of adolescents. The aim of the study was to test the effectiveness of the group counseling program which was developed to establish a healthy relationship between the mothers and the adolescents. Pre-test, post-test and follow up experimental model was used as research design. The sample consists of 16 mothers of adolescents (aged between 12-14 years) who receive individual psychological counseling. Automatic Thoughts Questionnaire and Communication Skills Inventory were used as measurement instruments. The results indicated that there were significant differences among pre-test, post test and follow up scores of mothers’ negative automatic thoughts and communication skills. It was observed that the program enabled mothers to learn more about their children while gaining self-awareness. Thus, group counseling contributed to improving family functioning by relying on parent-adolescent interactions.Ergenlik, birçok değişimin yaşandığı bir gelişim dönemidir. Bazı ergenler bu uyum sürecini başarı ile tamamlarken, bazıları profesyonel yardım almaya ihtiyaç duyabilmektedirler. Bu noktada sadece ergene değil aynı zamanda ergenin ailesine de psikolojik yardım hizmetlerinin verilmesi, ergenin sağlıklı gelişimine katkı sağlayacaktır. Bu araştırmada, ergenler ve anneleri arasında sağlıklı ilişki geliştirmelerine yardımcı olmak amacıyla annelere yönelik hazırlanan grupla psikolojik danışma programın etkililiğini sınamak amaçlanmıştır. Araştırma tek grup ön-son test ve izleme deneme modellinde hazırlanmıştır. Araştırmaya, 12-14 yaş aralıklarında bireysel psikolojik danışma hizmeti alan 16 ergen annesi katılmıştır. Veri toplama aracı olarak Otomatik Düşünceler Ölçeği ve İletişim Becerileri Envanteri kullanılmıştır. Bulgular, annelerin olumsuz otomatik düşünceler ve iletişim becerileri ön-test, son-test ve izleme puanlarında farklılıkların oluştuğunu göstermektedir

    FoMO ile nomofobi arasındaki ilişkide sosyal medya kullanım alışkanlıklarının aracı rolü

    This study examines the mediating role of social media usage habits in the relationship between FoMO and nomophobia. 457 people were recruited to participate in the study. While 177 of them were male, the remaining 280 participants were female, and the participants’ age ranged between 18 and 70. The average age of the participants was calculated as 30.81. The research hypotheses were tested by hierarchical regression analysis. In addition, the significance of the mediator variable was examined via Bootstrapping analysis. First, Pearson productmoment correlation analysis was performed to determine the relationship between variables, and it was found that there was a positive significant relationship between variables. The subsequent hierarchical regression analysis determined that social media usage habits played a partial mediating role in the relationship between FoMO and nomophobia. All findings were discussed in the light of similar research studies in the existing literature, and several suggestions were provided in the end.Bu çalışmada, FoMO ile nomofobi arasındaki ilişkide sosyal medya kullanım alışkanlıklarının aracı rolünün incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu, yaşları 18 ile 70 arasında değişen 177’si erkek ve 280’i kadın olmak üzere toplam 457 kişiden oluşmaktadır. Katılımcıların yaş ortalaması ise 30.81 olarak hesaplanmıştır. Araştırmanın hipotezleri hiyerarşik regresyon analizi ile test edilmiştir. Ayrıca aracı değişkenin anlamlılığı günümüzde daha çağdaş bir yaklaşım olarak kabul gören Bootstrapping yöntemi ile hesaplanmıştır. Veri analizinde ilk olarak değişkenler arasındaki ilişkiyi belirlemek amacıyla Pearson momentler çarpımı korelasyon analizi yapılmış ve değişkenler arasında pozitif yönde anlamlı ilişkiler olduğu ortaya konmuştur. Sonrasında yapılan hiyerarşik regresyon analizinde sosyal medya kullanım alışkanlıkları değişkeninin FoMO ile nomofobi arasındaki ilişkide kısmi aracı rol oynadığı belirlenmiştir. Alanyazında FoMO ile nomofobi arasındaki ilişkide sosyal medya kullanım alışkanlıkları değişkeninin aracı rolünün incelendiği herhangi bir çalışma olmaması, bu araştırmanın önemini ortaya koymaktadır. Elde edilen tüm bu bulgular benzer çalışmalar ve alanyazın ışığında tartışılmış, tüm okuyuculara bazı önerilerde bulunulmuştur

    The predictors of school refusal: Depression, anxiety, cognitive distortion and attachment

    School refusal is one of the main problems observed in almost all levels of education in Turkey. This problem is characterized by difficulties in going to school, staying at school for an entire day or not feeling well at school. School refusal is commonly associated with cognitive evaluations and emotional   problems, and it may also be a source for various other problems. The purpose of this study is to do a research about the predictor power of depression, negative thoughts and attachment styles in school refusal through the sample of Turkish students. Furthermore, the school refusal behavior has also been analysed in terms of some demographical variables such as gender, perceived socio-economic level, and parents’ educational level. The study group consisted of 340 secondary school students studying in Istanbul. School Refusal Assessment Scale-R, The Revised Child Anxiety and Depression Scale-Short Version, The Experiences in Close Relationships Middle Childhood, and Three Dimensions of Cognitive Scale were used as measurements. Results have indicated that school refusal is predicted by anxiety, depression and negative thoughts but is not predicted by attachment styles such as avoidance and anxiety attachment. The results have been presented and discussed in the light of the literature

    Urine dipstick of sputum for the rapid diagnosis of community acquired pneumonia

    Abstract: Introduction: Community acquired pneumonia (CAP) is responsible for an important part of treatment costs across the world. Even though posterioranterior lung radiography (PALG) and direct sputum smear microscopy are required or routine diagnoses. The purpose of this study is to determine the diagnostic value of the bedside urine strip tests in CAP. Methods: Patients who attended the emergency department (ED) between from February 2016 to September 2016 with expectoration complaints and suspicion of pneumonia. The sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy rate of the urine strip tests, direct sputum smear microscopy, and PALG were calculated and analyzed using SPSS 15.0. Results: During the study period, 100 patients with pneumonia suspicion were evaluated in the ED. The sample was divided into two groups: negative and positive diagnosis of CAP. The leukocytes detecting by urine strip tests are statistical differences between the two groups (p: 0.003). The results show that the sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy rate of leukocytes detected in sputum with urine strip tests in the pneumonia diagnosis were 83.3%, 44.2% and 63% respectively. Conclusion: According to the study, it is believed that the method of determination of leukocytes with urine strip tests in sputum combined with more detailed results. They can become part of CAP diagnosis methods

    Relationship between World Assumptions and Resilience in Psychological Counsellors

    The purpose of the study was to examine the mediating role of self-orientations in the relationship between resilience and world assumptions of psychological counsellors. A total of 321 psychological counsellors, were recruited and 211 of them were women and 110 of them were men.  The ages of the participants ranged from 23 to 52. The Brief Resilience Scale, World Assumptions Scale, and Balanced Integration-Differentiation (BID) Scale were used as data collection tools. In the analysis of the data, descriptive statistics, Pearson Correlation Coefficient, as well as the Bootstrap method was used to analyze the mediation effects. The findings showed that the assumptions of benevolence, randomness, self-worth, and justice and self-orientation were positively related to psychological resilience. Results of the mediation analysis revealed that self-developmental and interrelational orientations had mediation effects on relationships between world assumptions and resilience as in the proposed model. Findings for the model tested in the study were discussed with the literature and the implications were given to field experts, researchers, and psychological counsellors

    Awareness: The effect of group counseling on awareness and acceptance of self and others

    AbstractIn this research, the effect of raising awareness-oriented group counseling programme, predominated by cognitive behavioral methods, on self-awareness, cognitive structures, emotion regulation, and relationships of university students has been investigated. Study design is pre-post test, experiment and control group model. Self-reflection and Insight Scale, Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire, and Automatic Thoughts Questionnaire were used as instruments. Mann-Whitney U test and Wilcoxon signed ranks test was used in the data analysis. The results showed that the programme was significant on the self-awareness, automatic thoughts, and emotion regulation. It can be concluded that the training programme may have permanent effects

    The Adaptation of the adult ınterpersonal acceptance-rejection scale into Turkish and the examination of its psychometric properties

    This study aims to adapt the Adult Interpersonal Acceptance Rejection Scale to Turkish culture and examine the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of this scale. 653 university students selected by the convenience sampling method constitute the study sample. The original factor structure of the scale was examined by confirmatory factor analysis. The results revealed that the original factor structure of the Adult Interpersonal Acceptance-Rejection Scale was confirmed in the Turkish sample. The internal consistency of the scale items was associated with the Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficient and was calculated as .908. In addition, Cronbach's alpha values were.915 for the mother acceptance sub-dimension, .909 for best friend acceptance sub-dimension, and .911 for the romantic partner acceptance sub-dimension. Correlation coefficients were calculated between the Adult Interpersonal Acceptance Rejection Scale and the Two-Dimensional Self-Esteem Scale, the Interdependent Happiness Scale, and the Life Satisfaction Scale to prove the validity of the criterion. The results showed that the sub-dimensions of the scales were significantly related. These results show that the Turkish version of the Adult Interpersonal Acceptance Rejection Scale is a valid and reliable measurement tool that can be used for research purposes to determine the levels of interpersonal acceptance and rejection of adult individuals

    Bu araştırma, rehberlik ve psikolojik danışmanlık bölümünde öğrenim gören üniversite öğrencilerininpsikolojik dayanıklılıklarını ve duygu düzenleme becerilerini geliştirmeye yönelik hazırlanan bilişseldavranışçı temelli psiko-eğitim programı uygulamak ve bu programın etkililiğini sınamak amacıylagerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışma, İstanbul’daki farklı üniversitelerde üçüncü ve dördüncü sınıfta öğrenimgören, 11’i deney grubu, 11’i kontrol grubu olmak üzere toplam 22 üniversite öğrencisi üzerindeyürütülmüştür. Çalışmada Friborg ve diğerleri (2003) tarafından geliştirilen, Basım ve Çetin (2011)tarafından Türkçe’ye uyarlanan“Yetişkinler için Psikolojik Dayanıklılık Ölçeği” ve Garnefski, Kraaijve Spinhoven (2002) tarafından geliştirilen, Onat ve Otrar (2010) tarafından Türkçe’ye uyarlanan“Bilişsel Duygu Düzenleme Ölçeği” veri toplama araçları olarak kullanılmıştır. Bilişsel davranışçıtemelli geliştirilen psiko-eğitim programı 8 hafta boyunca deney grubuna uygulanmış ve programınetkililiği de sınanmıştır. Kontrol grubuna herhangi bir müdahale yapılmamıştır. Bilişsel davranışçıtemelli psikoeğitim programının uygulandığı 8 hafta sonunda deney grubunda psikolojik dayanıklılıkve bilişsel duygu düzenleme ölçeklerinin bazı alt boyutlarında artış gözlemlenmiş ve programın etkiliolduğu tespit edilmiştir.In this study, it was aimed to apply a cognitive behavioral-based psycho-education program prepared_x000D_ to improve the psychological resilience and emotion regulation skills of university students studying_x000D_ in the guidance and psychological counseling department. It was also aimed to test the effectiveness of_x000D_ this program. The study was conducted on a total of 22 students, 11 of whom are experimental groups_x000D_ and 11 of which are control groups, studying in the third and fourth grades at different universities in_x000D_ Istanbul. In the study “The Resilience Scale for Adults” developed by Friborg et al. (2003) and_x000D_ adapted to Turkish by Basım and Çetin (2011) and “Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire”_x000D_ developed by Garnefski, Kraaij and Spinhoven (2002) and adapted to Turkish Onat and Otrar (2010)_x000D_ were used as data collection tools. Cognitive behavioral based psycho-education program was applied_x000D_ to the experimental group for 8 weeks and the effectiveness of the program was tested. No intervention_x000D_ was made to the control group. At the end of 8 weeks of cognitive behavioral-based psychoeducation_x000D_ program, some sub-dimensions of psychological resilience and cognitive emotion regulation scales_x000D_ were increased in the experimental group and the program was found to be effective
