    International Trade as an Engine of Growth in Developing Countries: A Case Study of Nigeria

    This study examines international trade as an engine of growth in developing countries, a case study of Nigeria. A review of the literature reveals that countries that are more open to international trade tends to experience higher growth rate and per-capital income than countries who do not trade or closed economy. The primary objective of the study is to test the impact of international trade on economic development in Nigeria. In the paper, data were collected mainly from secondary sources, e.g. central bank of Nigeria(CBN) bulletin, federal office of statistics, etc. the test for the study is regression analysis, specifically the unit root test, error correction model (ECM) and the co-integration analysis. The study reveals that export is highly significant to international trade, since it is significant at both levels and first difference. In conclusion government should consider exporting more goods and services in order to promote international trade which is a veritable tool for economic growth of the Nigerian econom

    Deregulation of Interest: Implication for National Development

    This paper investigates the deregulation of interest and its implication to national development in Nigeria. Utilizing annual time series data from 1970 to 2018, the study applied augmented dickey fuller unit root test. Overall, our results show that money supply have very strong influence on deregulation in the Nigerian economy. The result equally showed that interest rate, exchange rate, money supply and availability of credit are significant first difference. Thus, the paper submits that deregulation of interest rate has positive impact on exchange rate in Nigeria and recommends among others that efforts should be geared towards maintaining deregulation of interest rate, measure to enhance exchange rate and encourage savings should be maintained with a view to removing all impediments to free flow of businesses in the country.     Psychological Factors, Digital Literacy Skills and Use of Electronic Information Resource by Postgraduate Students of Delta State University , Abraka

    ABSTRACT This study investigated psychological factors, digital literacy skills and use of electronic information resources by postgraduate students in the faculty of education, Delta State University, Abraka. Three research questions and two research hypotheses were raised, answered and tested. The study employed the descriptive survey design and the sample for this study consist of 45 postgraduate students. The purposive sampling technique was employed for this study. The instrument for the collection of data was the questionnaire. The questionnaire was titled “Psychological Factors and Digital Literacy Skills influencing the Use of Electronic Information Resources by Postgraduate Students Questionnaire (PFDLSIUERPSQ)”. The face and content validity was established by the supervisor and two other experts. To determine the reliability of the instrument, the Cronbach\u27s Alpha reliability statistics was used, and this produced a reliability index of 0.79. Data collected were analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics such as frequency, percentage, and Pearson product moment correlation coefficient r. The level of significance at 0.05. The findings of the study revealed that: Postgraduate students makes use of all electronic information resources with majority of them using a combination of different electronic information resources, all psychological factors influences the use of electronic information resource, postgraduate students possess the digital literacy skills, also the finding shows that there is a significant relationship among self efficacy, motivation and anxiety on usage of electronic information resource, while there is no significant relationship between stress and usage of electronic information resources, and lastly, no significant relationship was found between postgraduate students digital literacy skills and their usage of electronic information resource. It was therefore recommended that government should formulate policies that will support free access to Internet services in schools so that all students can get access to the Internet and enhance their digital literacy skills through frequent usage of electronic information skills

    Growth Perspective via Trade in Nigeria: A Co-integration Approach

    The research paper examined growth perspective via trade in Nigeria. The general objective of the study is to access the impact of trade on the Nigerian economy. In this paper it was believed that international trade has positive effect on economic growth. The ordinary least squares (OLS), Augmented Dicky Fuller (ADF) statistics and the co- integration method were employed to estimate the model built. The result suggest that exchange rate is statistically significant in explaining economic growth via trade in Nigeria economy, while total trade is not statistically significant in explaining economic growth in Nigeria. The researcher therefore recommends that the government should look beyond petroleum product as major tradable goods that will develop the economy
