Modelling Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) of NOx to N2 over Cu-SSZ-13

Modelling Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) of NOx to N2 over Cu-SSZ-13 Reduction of NOx emissions from diesel engine exhaust is an environmental issue driven by increasingly stringent emission regulations. Cu-SSZ-13 catalysts have been shown to be promising for this application due to their hydrothermal stability and selectivity in reducing NOx to N2using NH3 compared to other zeolite catalysts. SOx formed from the combustion of ppm levels of sulfur in diesel fuel deactivates the Cu-SSZ-13 catalyst. However, its effect on Cu2+ and CuOH active sites and the SCR mechanism is unclear and under debateUniversidad de MĂĄlaga. Campus de Excelencia Internacional AndalucĂa Tech

Do Border Crossings Contribute to Underage Motor-Vehicle Fatalities?

    Get PDF
Currently, Michigan residents can avoid the national drinking age of 21 by crossing into Ontario where the drinking age is 19. This paper explores the impact that border crossings, connecting areas with different minimum legal drinking ages (MLDA), have on motor-vehicle fatalities. We analyze border crossings connecting Michigan to Ontario, as well as to its surrounding states in the period in which Michigan’s MLDA was raised to 21. Using a “differences-in-differences-in-differences” approach we find that the MLDA change did not contribute to increased underage fatalities in border crossing counties.

Costume Designing for Theatre of the Absurd - Come and Go, Footfalls, and The Dumb Waiter.

    Get PDF
In October of 2010, ETSU staged three one-act plays in the Theatre of the Absurd genre--Come and Go and Footfalls by Samuel Beckett and The Dumb Waiter by Harold Pinter. This thesis gives a brief overview of Theatre of the Absurd and how Beckett and Pinter helped to shape and define the genre. It also gives an analysis of these three plays from the perspective of the costume designer

Supportive Leadership: The Principal\u27s Role in Beginning Teacher Retention

School districts in West Virginia and across the nation have been experiencing a mass exodus of teachers over the last two decades, creating a widespread shortage of certified educators in the classroom. In the United States approximately a half-million teachers leave their schools every year, and only 16% of those exits can be attributed to retirement. The rest is due to movement between schools and to teachers leaving the profession. While a great deal of research has been completed in order to ascertain why teachers are leaving the profession most focuses on the individual teacher’s perspective – and that perspective suggests that the decision to remain, leave, or resign from the teaching profession is often linked to the administrative support of new teacher experiences. This study aims to determine high school principals’ perceptions regarding the supports that are necessary to retain beginning teachers and to determine the extent to which those perceptions are congruent with what the extant research identifies, as new teachers’ support needs. This non-experimental, descriptive study was conducted electronically and featured both qualitative and quantitative elements. Using the Delphi research technique, Round One generated the top three principal supports in each of the areas of instruction, school culture, and professional growth, and gained demographic information. Round Two asked participants to rank-order the primary supports identified in Round One and provide additional comments. The expert panel consisted of 16 high school principals whose schools are clustered in a specific Regional Education Service Agency (RESA) in West Virginia

Is Fluoxetine an Effective Therapy for Weight Loss in Obese Patients?

    Get PDF
Fluoxetine (Prozac) use may result in an average, short-term weight loss of up to 3.3 kg (7 lb, 4 oz) in obese patients, but the longterm effects and maintenance of weight loss after discontinuation of the drug have not been well studied. No evidence concerning other SSRIs was found. [Strength of recommendation: B, based on low-quality systematic reviews of randomized controlled trials (RCTs)

Standing to Sue Under the Model Land Development Code

    Get PDF
The Model Land Development Code was promulgated by the American Law Institute as the paradigm for state legislatures to follow when enacting land use laws for the future. The Code is not intended to create uniformity among state laws. Instead, states may use the articles of the Code as models in drafting legislation that is more specifically suited to their needs. Article Nine, which states rules of standing to participate in land use disputes, poses a potential obstacle to would-be public interest litigants. This note will explore the effect of Article Nine on citizen plaintiffs and demonstrate how its ambiguous language, when combined with the particularized laws of standing in individual states, can produce widely divergent effects on the ability of public interest parties to gain access to the courts
