A MODEL FOR THE GRANTING OF CREDITS AND RISK ESTIMATION IN THE AGRICULTURAL SECTOR

    Get PDF
This study aims to propose a statistical model for the granting of credits in the agricultural sector that will generate an appropriate credit risk management. (Case of the Trust Funds to Agriculture, FIRA). The methodology used was the discrimination technique, commonly known as credit scoring. The score tables allow to determine default probabilities of guaranteed loans, these probabilities and the contingent balance are inputs to estimate credit risk through three models commonly used in practice: CyRCE, Montecarlo and Credit Risk+. The results led to the conclusion that the parameters determined through a scoreboard based on logistic regression and estimation of credit risk with the Monte Carlo model, allow having a balance between revenue and expenditure

CD25 Appears Non Essential for Human Peripheral Treg Maintenance In Vivo

Background: IL-2 has been reported to be critical for peripheral T reg survival in mouse models. Here, we examined T reg maintenance in a series of paediatric liver transplant recipients who received basiliximab, a therapeutic anti-CD25 monoclonal antibody. Methodology/Principal Findings: FoxP3 + CD4 T cells were analyzed by flow cytometry before liver grafting and more than 9 months later. We found that in vivo CD25 blockade did not lead to Treg depletion: the proportion of FoxP3 + cells among CD4 T cells and the level of FoxP3 expression were both unchanged. IL-2Rb expression was enhanced in FoxP3 + cells both before and after basiliximab treatment, while the level of IL-2Rc expression was similar in Tregs and non-Tregs. No significant change in the weak or absent expression of IL-7Ra and IL-15Ra expression on FoxP3 + cells was observed. Although the proportion of FoxP3 + cells among CD4 T cells did not vary, food allergies occurred more rapidly after liver grafting in patients who received basiliximab, raising questions as to T reg functionality in vivo in the absence of functional CD25. Conclusions: CD25 appears non essential for human Treg peripheral maintenance in vivo. However, our results rais

Growth is (really) good for the (really) rich

This paper analyzes the relationship between mean income and the income of the rich. Our methodology closely follows that of Dollar and Kraay (2002), but instead of looking at the bottom of the distribution, we analyze the top. We use panel data from the World Top Incomes database, which collects top income data from several countries using tax returns as the raw source. We define the “rich” as earners in the top 10 percent, 1 percent, 0.1 percent, and 0.01 percent of the income distribution. We find that economic growth is good for the rich in the sense that the mean income of the top decile of the distribution grows in the same proportion as that of the whole population. However, we also find that the income of earners in the top percentile of the distribution and above grows in an even larger proportion than average income: that is, economic growth is really good for the really rich. We also find that during economic downturns, the average income of top earners responds proportionally less to changes in mean income than during economic expansions. Our results are robust to different sample specifications

Autoimmune Epilepsy: New Development and Future Directions

In recent years, there has been accumulating evidence to support an autoimmune etiology for some patients with drug-resistant seizures, typically in the context of an antibody-mediated encephalopathy; any seizure disorder that may be caused by pathogenic autoantibodies, are an example of autoimmune epilepsy. Autoimmunity is characterized by loss of immune tolerance that causes the destruction of cells and tissues. The largest complex histocompatibility system has had a strong association with autoimmune disease, although certain genes encoding cytokines and co-stimulatory molecules increase genetic susceptibility. In spite of having scientific advances in this research area, the conditions underlying mechanisms are unknown.Goal: this chapter aims to present in synthesized form, the genetic, immunological, and environmental factors role in the autoimmunity to epilepsy, as well as the therapeutic approach that has been used to control seizures, mainly where there is a suspected anti-neuronal-antibodies circulation. Methods: a review of the work achieved during the last years in patients with this condition provides information and experience in the diagnosis and treatment of this epilepsy type. For this, a systematic search of PUBMED is conducted using the search terms “autoimmune and epilepsy, auto antibodies and epilepsy, NMDA and epilepsy, AMPA and epilepsy, and GAD and epilepsy.” The list of identified articles was complemented by additional searches for relevant articles in the reference section of the publications captured by the initial search
