A Twenty Years Phenological Record of the Spring Flowering Plants of Henry County

    Get PDF
Each spring since 1915 a record of the date of the first appearance of flowers of our seed bearing plants has been kept. This has been handled through a contest with the students in the botany classes. Reports on the comparative dates for some of the more representative species were made in 1918 and in 1924

Impact of mirabegron extended-release on the treatment of overactive bladder with urge urinary incontinence, urgency, and frequency

    Get PDF
Overactive bladder is a highly prevalent disorder with a significant impact on quality of life. Antimuscarinic agents are commonly used, but persistence is limited due to unsatisfactory efficacy and/or tolerability. Mirabegron is the first beta-3 adrenoceptor agonist approved for the treatment of overactive bladder syndrome. This paper reviews the pharmacology, mechanism of action, efficacy, and safety of mirabegron. A PubMed search of all English articles pertaining to mirabegron was performed. An alternative to antimuscarinics, mirabegron has a unique mechanism, improves overactive bladder symptoms and quality of life, and has limited adverse effects and few contraindications

Long-Term Impact Of On-Demand Professional Development On Student Performance: A Longitudinal Multi-State Study

    Get PDF
The long-term effects of Professional Development (PD) on educators’ ability to affect student performance remain virtually unstudied. This quasi-experimental, longitudinal study compared student achievement scores from 25 states and 78 school districts over multiple years for schools whose teachers used an online, on-demand professional development offering. The objective was to evaluate to what degree student scores might improve, decline, or plateau with participation in professional development over multiple years. Results showed significant gains in student performance across the number of years of participation, with significant continuation in growth across years. Findings validate a significant predictive relationship between the number of years educators participated in PD and improvements quantified in student performance. Inferences of findings to other PD approaches or offerings, or other student or educator populations or settings are discussed

Composition of primary cosmic rays near the bend from a study of hadrons in air showers at sea level

    Get PDF
Data on hadrons in air showers arriving at sea level were studied to find sensitivity to primary cosmic ray composition. The rate of showers which satisfy minimum shower density and hadron energy requirements as well as the rate of showers containing hadrons delayed with respect to the electron shower front are compared to Monte Carlo simulations. The data on the rate of total triggers and delayed hadrons are compared to predicted rates for two models of primary composition. The data are consistent with models which require an increasing heavy nuclei fraction near 10 to the 15th power eV. The spectra which are consistent with the observed rate are also compared to the observed shower size spectrum at sea level and mountain level
