The eXtensible Markup Language, or XML is a method to add structure and context to unstructured information This paper presents some of the latest issues in using XML as a standard for information publishing. We present XBRL (eXtended Business Reporting Language) and possible applications in elaborating financial documents. We also present DITA (Darwin Information Typing Architecture) as a new XML based standard developed by IBM DITA is used for technical information structuring and publishing. In the final part we present a DITA implementation of a procedures manual for a hypermarket.XBRL, XML, DITA, HTML, taxonomy, instance document

COMPARATIVE ANALYTICAL DETERMINATION OF THERMAL PROTECTION BEHAVIOR FOR EXPERIMENTAL MODELS MADE OF STRATIFIED BIOCOMPOSITE BOARDS OF LIGNO-CELLULOSE NATURE

    Get PDF
The paper addresses the comparative analytical determination of thermal insulation behavior for various experimental models made of stratified and hybrid biocomposites of ligno-cellulose nature. The analytical determination of the thermal resistance and the overall thermal insulation coefficient for each experimental model is performed using the calculation methodology for energy efficiency. The results obtained after the analysis of the thermal insulation behavior for the biocomposite panels highlighted the fact that they have thermal insulation properties with high values for thermal resistance and global thermal insulation coefficients

SOME COMPARATIVE OPINIONS REGARDING THE WORKING OF FIBERS AND MATRIX ON AXIAL STRESS LIMIT. MATRIX WITH LONGER FIBER EXTENSIONS

    Get PDF
This paper falls within the current scientific and technical research concerns related to structures made of long fiber composite materials. An essential problem is the co-operation of the matrix material with that of the fibers in the composite layers under the action of external loads, until the structure is damaged. In the present case, the case is taken into account if the material of the matrix is characterized by elongations superior to those of the fibers, so that they will break before the damage of the matrix. The linear-elastic behavior of the fibers is considered until their rupture and, obviously, the destruction of the composite

New compositional data concerning Au-Ag alloys from the northern part of Roşia Montană deposit, Metaliferi Mountains, Romania

International audienceThis paper presents the results of the new investigations by optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and electron-probe micro-analysis (EPMA) performed on samples collected from Orlea adit from Roşia Montană Au-Ag deposit, Romania. Based on composition, three types of Au-Ag alloy were described. At Roşia Montană, galena, pyrite, chalcopyrite and sphalerite are intimately associated with gold, electrum and tellurium-bearing minerals. At Roşia Montană, the precipitation of Au-Ag alloy with variable composition can be assigned to compositional changes of the parent hydrothermal solutions during deposition due to boiling, fluid dilution and cooling

Asphalt Heat Recovery Application for Sustainable Green Energy

    No full text
Increasing demand for energy due to comfort requirements in the built environment coupled with development of road networks and amplifying heat island effect call for a comprehensive approach that can answer both issues. The lifespan of an asphalt layer is affected by surface temperature. In this paper, we aim to study the feasibility of heat recovery and its effects in terms of energy harvesting efficiency and asphalt surface temperature by creating a numerical model and validating the model based on onsite measurements at laboratory scale. The experimental setup was developed at Technical University of Civil Engineering in Bucharest, and measurements were monitored during the summer. The heat recovery system used for this study was made of copper pipes, and material cost and layout optimization need to be addressed in future studies. The numerical model was validated using measured data. During this study, we obtained favorable results in terms of heat recovery, reducing surface temperature and selection of system materials. Further research is required for heat recovery system and pump automation (based on the surface temperature), in order to optimize energy consumption and improve overall efficiency

Heavy metals in Vereda’s soil of the Formoso river basin, Buritizeiro, Minas Gerais, Brazil

International audienceThis paper presents the geochemical data distribution of Cr, Cd, Cu, Co, Ni, Pb, Zn and Ba heavy metals in Vereda soils, located in the Rio Formoso basin, using a sampling network of vertical profiles, in order to assess the current condition of these environments. Considering that it comes to areas located near agroforestry activities, these elements were selected because they are present in pesticides and fertilizers and represents the major sources of contamination. The heavy metal content found in soils requires attention considering that many of them are beyond the limits of prevention set by CONAMA Resolution 420/2009. Geo-accumulation Index and Contamination Factor calculations revealed that these Veredas have high soil contamination by metals, particularly with Ni, Zn and Ba. Thus, the implementation mechanisms are necessary conducive to the protection of these environments as they are important to the region. It is suggested to create protected areas of sustainable use modality, specifically areas of ecological interest for the protection of Veredas, this being considered strategic to the conservation of soil and water

The metallic contamination impact on freshwater mussels Anodontes at the Saint-Victor-sur-Loire Lake, France

    No full text
International audienceSaint Etienne (France) has a large industrial and mining history. The end of these activities has given wayto industrial wasteland and mine dumps. Leaching caused by rain, industrial and mining waste may generate a verylarge urban pollution. Rivers (Ondaine and Loire) and lakes (Saint-Victor-sur-Loire) downstream of this zone arehighly polluted by heavy metals. The study has focused freshwater mussels to determine the risk of water pollution. We have shown that freshwater mussels are a good bioindicator for monitoring over time, this type of waterpollution due to their ability to filter water from the river. The entire food chain (freshwater mussels, mollusk, shrimp, fish, birds and humans) is affected by the pollution
