Analytical and stability studies on medical cosmetics
Two simple and sensitive spectrofluorimetric (method Ι) and spectrophotometric (method ΙΙ) methods have been developed for the determination of some chloride containing toothpastes and panthenol-containing cosmetic preparations respectively. Method Ι is based on quantitative fluorescence quenching of (terbium-salicylate-hexamine ternary complex) by fluoride which could be measured at λem/λex of 547nm/322nm. The ∆Fconcentration plot was rectilinear over the concentration range of 0.5-20 µg/ml. Method ΙΙ depends reaction of panthenol with nitrobenzoxadiazole chloride (NBD-Cl) and measuring the absorbance of the resultant product at 480nm. Effect of aggregates with high gypsum content on the performance of concrete
Sulfates in fine aggregate are a major problem when it exists in excessive amount especially in the Middle East and Iraq. Most of sulfate salts in fine aggregate are composed of calcium, magnesium, potassium and sodium sulfates. Calcium sulfates is the most common salt present in fine aggregate. It is usually finding as gypsum. It is difficult to obtain the specific sulfates content in fine aggregate within standard specifications. This research was conducted to investigate the effect of adding different contents of gypsum to fine aggregate as a replacement by weight on some properties of two types of concrete {self-compacted concrete (SCC) and high strength concrete (HSC)}. In these work three bases mixes of each type of concrete are used: mixes with different contents of metakaolin, mixes with different contents of gypsum and mixes incorporating different contents of metakaolin and gypsum. This study is devoted to determine the allowable content of sulfates in fine aggregate. Three levels of gypsum were tested (0.5, 1, 1.5) % by weight of fine aggregate and three levels of metakaolin were tested (5, 10, 15) % by the weight of cement. The experimental program is devoted to produce concrete with different levels of metakaolin and gypsum and determine its mechanical properties such as compressive strength and splitting tensile strength. The results arrived from this work show that the optimum gypsum content was 1.5% by weight of fine aggregates for mixes of SCC which gives increases in compressive strength and tensile strength, and 1% gypsum for mixes of HSC, results showed also that the metakaolin improved the properties of the two types of concrete and increased the loss which caused by sulfates. The best mix ever in SCC is 1% gypsum with 5% metakaolin, and 1% gypsum with 10% metakaolin for HSC
s-Process Nucleosynthesis in Advanced Burning Phases of Massive Stars
We present a detailed study of s-process nucleosynthesis in massive stars of
solar-like initial composition and masses 15, 20,25, and 30 Msun. We update our
previous results of s-process nucleosynthesis during the core He-burning of
these stars and then focus on an analysis of the s-process under the physical
conditions encountered during the shell-carbon burning. We show that the recent
compilation of the Ne22(alpha,n)Mg25 rate leads to a remarkable reduction of
the efficiency of the s-process during core He-burning. In particular, this
rate leads to the lowest overproduction factor of Kr80 found to date during
core He-burning in massive stars. The s-process yields resulting from shell
carbon burning turn out to be very sensitive to the structural evolution of the
carbon shell. This structure is influenced by the mass fraction of C12 attained
at the end of core helium burning, which in turn is mainly determined by the
C12(alpha,gamma)O16 reaction. The still present uncertainty in the rate for
this reaction implies that the s-process in massive stars is also subject to
this uncertainty. We identify some isotopes like Zn70 and Rb87 as the
signatures of the s-process during shell carbon burning in massive stars. In
determining the relative contribution of our s-only stellar yields to the solar
abundances, we find it is important to take into account the neutron exposure
of shell carbon burning. When we analyze our yields with a Salpeter Initial
Mass Function, we find that massive stars contribute at least 40% to s-only
nuclei with mass A 90, massive stars

Cloud Computing Adoption: A Mapping Of Service Delivery And Deployment Models
The recent upward trend in adopting cloud computing by businesses worldwide reflects the captivating opportunity of cost effective computing brought by cloud computing to replace the traditional IT computing services model. However, the decision to adopt cloud computing is somewhat complex. This paper will review the literature of cloud computing service and deployment models with the aim to determine the relevant characteristics of both service delivery and deployment models. Then, the authors will develop a mapping between the two sets of characteristics of cloud computing models. The mapping will lead to the development of a decision-making framework for managing cloud-computing adoption
Micellar liquid chromatographic method for the simultaneous determination of norfloxacin and tinidazole in pharmaceutical dosage forms and human plasma
A micellar liquid chromatographic method was developed for the simultaneous analysis of a binary mixture of norfloxacin and tinidazole (NOR and TIN) in dosage forms and human plasma. The analysis was carried out using a Waters Symmetry® C18 column (250 mm x 4.6 mm i.d., 5 µm particle size). The running mobile phase consisting of 0.15 M sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS), 0.3 % triethylamine (TEA), 5 % n-propanol, the pH was adjusted to 4 by addition of 0.02 M orthophosphoric acid pumped at a flow rate 1.0 mL/min with UV at 275 nm. Calibration curves were linear over the range 1-28 and 1.5-42 µg/mL for NOR and TIN, respectively. The quantification limits were 0.7 and 1.0 µg /mL for NOR and TIN respectively. The proposed method was successfully applied for the simultaneous determination of NOR and TIN in human plasma without prior precipitation of protein. The mean percentage recoveries of bioavailability test in human plasma (n = 3) were 90.31 ± 4.22 and 90.05 ± 1.3 for NOR and TIN, respectively.Colegio de Farmacéuticos de la Provincia de Buenos Aire

Simultaneous determination of sulpiride and mebeverine by HPLC method using fluorescence detection: application to real human plasma
A new simple, rapid and sensitive reversed-phase liquid chromatographic method was developed and validated for the simultaneous determination of sulpiride (SUL) and mebeverine Hydrochloride (MEB) in the presence of their impurities and degradation products. The separation of these compounds was achieved within 6 min on a 250 mm, 4.6 mm i.d., 5 m particle size Waters®-C18 column using isocractic mobile phase containing a mixture of acetonitrile and 0.01 M dihydrogenphosphate buffer (45:55) at pH = 4.0. The analysis was performed at a flow rate of 1.0 mL/min with fluorescence-detection at excitation 300 nm and emission at 365 nm. The concentration-response relationship was linear over a concentration range of 10- 100 ng/mL for both MEB and SUL with a limit of detection 0.73 ng/mL and 0.85 ng/mL for MEB and SUL respectively. The proposed method was successfully applied for the analysis of both MEB and SUL in bulk with average recoveries of 100.22 ± 0.757% and 99.96 ± 0.625% respectively, and in commercial tablets with average recoveries of 100.04 ± 0.93% and 100.03 ± 0.376% for MEB and SUL respectively. The proposed method was successfully applied to the determination of MEB metabolite (veratic acid) in real plasma simultaneously with SUL. The mean% recoveries (n = 3) for both MEB metabolite (veratic acid) and SUL were 100.36 ± 2.92 and 99.06 ± 2.11 for spiked human plasma respectively. Efficacy of fetal echocardiography in prenatal diagnosis of congenital heart diseases
Background: Congenital heart diseases are the commonest fetal congenital defects and until nowadays most of them are bypassed without prenatal diagnosis to be still considered as unexplained stillbirths or perinatal deaths. In this study, we tried to prove the importance of routine fetal cardiac screening in the ANC visits and also confirming its high accuracy.Methods: This study was prospective longitudinal one, including doing ISUOG extended fetal cardiac screening for one hundred foetuses scheduled at certain gestational age visits, whom their half were at risks for CHDs and the other were not, with comparing the results to antenatal and postnatal detailed fetal echocardiography.Results: The best gestational age for the fetal cardiac screening was at 18-22 weeks gestation. The accuracy of the screening to the antenatal echocardiogram was 96%-100% and to the postnatal one was 96%-98%.Conclusions: CHDs are still the commonest congenital fetal defects and the antenatal fetal cardiac screening by extended basic views has high accuracy. Making this screening a routine in ANC visits will be of great help in improving the fetal outcome
Enhancing consumers' self-reported loyalty intentions in Islamic Banks: the relationship between service quality and the mediating role of customer satisfaction
The main objective of this paper is to investigate how service quality and customer satisfaction are correlated to self-reported loyalty intentions in Islamic banks. The paper presents primary data collected by self-administered questionnaires involving a sample of 655 respondents from all local Islamic Banks in Jordan. The results show that compliance, tangibility, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy positively linked to self-reported loyalty intentions, with compliance and assurance appearing as the greatest correlation with self-reported loyalty intentions compared to other service quality dimensions. Islamic banks should focus on continuous improvement of service quality due to the direct correlation with customer satisfaction and loyalty. It is important for Islamic banks to review and endorse all policies and procedures to ensure that their documents and investments are undertaken in line with the requirements of Islamic law. Managers should pay special attention to the service quality provided by their employees and develop their skill set through training and education programmes based on Islamic principles. As the first study of its kind in Jordan, the paper’s contribution stems from filling the research gap in examining the relationship between the various service quality dimensions and self-reported loyalty intentions in Islamic banks using the CARTER model.

READING and FEELING: the effects of a literature-based intervention designed to increase emotional competence in second and third graders
Emotional competence has an important influence on development in school. We hypothesized that reading and discussing children’s books with emotional content increases children’s emotional competence. To examine this assumption, we developed a literature- based intervention, named READING and FEELING, and tested it on 104 second and third graders in their after-school care center. Children who attended the same care center but did not participate in the emotion-centered literary program formed the control group (n = 104). Our goal was to promote emotional competence and to evaluate the effectiveness of the READING and FEELING program. Emotional competence variables were measured prior to the intervention and 9 weeks later, at the end of the program. Results revealed significant improvements in the emotional vocabulary, explicit emotional knowledge, and recognition of masked feelings. Regarding the treatment effect for detecting masked feelings, we found that boys benefited significantly more than girls. These findings underscore the assumption that children’s literature is an appropriate vehicle to support the development of emotional competence in middle childhood
