The effect of the displacement damage on the Charge Collection Efficiency in Silicon Drift Detectors for the LOFT satellite

The technology of Silicon Drift Detectors (SDDs) has been selected for the two instruments aboard the Large Observatory For X-ray Timing (LOFT) space mission. LOFT underwent a three year long assessment phase as candidate for the M3 launch opportunity within the "Cosmic Vision 2015 -- 2025" long-term science plan of the European Space Agency. During the LOFT assessment phase, we studied the displacement damage produced in the SDDs by the protons trapped in the Earth's magnetosphere. In a previous paper we discussed the effects of the Non Ionising Energy Losses from protons on the SDD leakage current. In this paper we report the measurement of the variation of Charge Collection Efficiency produced by displacement damage caused by protons and the comparison with the expected damage in orbit.Comment: 17 pages, 7 figures. Esta pesquisa, inserida numa perspectiva sócio-enunciativa de linguagem, tem por objetivo geral pôr em discussão a unicidade do sujeito da enunciação e investigar o entrecruzamento de vozes na constituição do discurso. Toma-se Benveniste como ponto de partida para encaminhar a formulação teórica, ancorada na Teoria do Dialogismo, de Bakhtin, em associação com a Teoria Polifônica da Enunciação, de Ducrot, esta oriunda da Semântica Argumentativa. Propõe-se, deste modo, uma aproximação entre Bakhtin e Ducrot, admitindo que, embora situados em postos teóricos diferentes o primeiro refletindo sobre o diálogo sócio-histórico-ideológico entre enunciados, no discurso; e o segundo examinando marcadores de polifonia presentes na estrutura interna dos próprios enunciados , esses dois autores priorizam o discurso na determinação do sentido, podendo ser convocados, sem incoerência teórica, para explicar a heterogeneidade enunciativa. Para proceder a uma amostra de análise, selecionou-se uma reportagem sobre a crise na aviação civil brasileira, tendo a expectativa de que as forças sócio-históricas que atuam na determinação do gênero reportagem favoreceriam a expressão de uma polifonia enunciativa. Os parâmetros propostos para a análise permitiram evidenciar a constituição dialógica do discurso no seu todo, bem como apreender marcas de polifonia em enunciados presentes no encadeamento argumentativo do texto

Measurement of the effect of Non Ionising Energy Losses on the leakage current of Silicon Drift Detector prototypes for the LOFT satellite

The silicon drift detectors are at the basis of the instrumentation aboard the Large Observatory For x-ray Timing (LOFT) satellite mission, which underwent a three year assessment phase within the "Cosmic Vision 2015 - 2025" long-term science plan of the European Space Agency. Silicon detectors are especially sensitive to the displacement damage, produced by the non ionising energy losses of charged and neutral particles, leading to an increase of the device leakage current and thus worsening the spectral resolution. During the LOFT assessment phase, we irradiated two silicon drift detectors with a proton beam at the Proton Irradiation Facility in the accelerator of the Paul Scherrer Institute and we measured the increase in leakage current. In this paper we report the results of the irradiation and we discuss the impact of the radiation damage on the LOFT scientific performance.Comment: 21 pages, 7 figures, 2 tables. Effetto combinato di una deformazione plastica severa e dispersoidi di Zr e Sc+Zr sul processo di affinamento microstrutturale di una lega Al-Mg-Si

Il presente lavoro illustra gli studi microstrutturali effettuati mediante microscopia elettronicain trasmissione su due leghe Al-Mg-Si-Zr, con e senza aggiunta di 0.117Sc (%in peso). Le due leghe sonostate sottoposte a severa deformazione plastica mediante equal-channel angular pressing usando la routeBc e fino ad una deformazione pari a ~12. In particolare, la studio microstrutturale è stato focalizzatosul ruolo dei dispersoidi Al3(Sc1-x,Zrx), nel caso della lega Al-Mg-Si-Zr-Sc, e di quelli Al3Zr, nel casodella lega Al-Mg-Si-Zr. Il confronto con i processi di deformazione plastica nella lega base Al-Mg-Si,e soggetta allo stesso tipo di processo, mostra una generazione di bordi ad alto angolo maggiore nel casodi presenza di dispersoidi, mentre la formazione dei sottograni ne è influenzata in modo minore.Nello specifico, tale effetto è più accentuato in presenza dei dispersoidi complessi Al3(Sc1-x,Zrx).La disorientazione media dei bordi ad alto angolo aumenta più velocemente in presenza di Al3(Sc1-x,Zrx),raggiungendo un plateau dopo 8 passate. La disorientazione dei bordi a basso angolo aumentaprogressivamente fino ad un valore medio di ~8° e ~5° rispettivamente per la lega Al-Mg-Si-Zr-Sce la Al-Mg-Si-Zr. Inoltre, è stato possibile determinare l’effetto dei due tipi di dispersoidi nel processodi taglio dei precipitati Mg2Si e di riduzione in volume dei Si, già documentato in un lavoro precedente

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk merancang dan membangun suatu sistem rekam medik yang berbasis mobile yang dapat digunakan pada smartphone android menggunakan metodologi DAD (Disciplined Agile Delivery). Metode DAD terdiri dari 3 fase yaitu fase inception, fase construction, dan fase transition. Berdasarkan dengan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa aplikasi ini dapat membantu khususnya bagi tim medis sebagai sarana informasi mengenai data rekam medik pasien dan juga dapat menjadi media penyimpanan data rekam medik pribadi yang dapat diakses oleh pasien melalui login user

Radiation tests of the Silicon Drift Detectors for LOFT

During the three years long assessment phase of the LOFT mission, candidate to the M3 launch opportunity of the ESA Cosmic Vision programme, we estimated and measured the radiation damage of the silicon drift detectors (SDDs) of the satellite instrumentation. In particular, we irradiated the detectors with protons (of 0.8 and 11 MeV energy) to study the increment of leakage current and the variation of the charge collection efficiency produced by the displacement damage, and we "bombarded" the detectors with hypervelocity dust grains to measure the effect of the debris impacts. In this paper we describe the measurements and discuss the results in the context of the LOFT mission.Comment: Proc.
