The influence of large predators on the feeding ecology of two African mesocarnivores: the black-backed jackal and the brown hyaena
Interactions between apex and mesopredators and their impacts on prey populations have been well documented, while the influence of apex predators such as lions on carrion availability and the subsequent impacts at lower trophic levels are not fully understood. Here we assess dietary overlap between two sympatric carnivores (brown hyaena, Parahyaena brunnea, and black-backed jackal, Canis mesomelas) in neighbouring reserves with and without apex predators (lions, Panthera leo,and wild dog, Lycaon pictus). We investigate whether apex predators facilitate niche partitioning between mesocarnivores by creating additional scavenging opportunities through predatory activity. We found that brown hyaena density was higher in the area with apex predators, while black-backed jackal density was higher in the area without apex predators. Black-backed jackal scats contained broadly similar dietary items at both sites, while large mammal remains occurred significantly more frequently in brown hyaena scats collected inthe presence of apex predators. In the absence of apex predators there was a markedly higher degree of overlap between brown hyaena and jackal diets, suggesting increased levels of inter-specific competition. Our results suggest that apex predators potentially reduce levels of inter-specific competition for food between mesocarnivores by providing additional scavenging opportunities for specialist scavengers such as brown hyaena
Dark Matter, Muon g-2 and Other SUSY Constraints
Recent developments constraining the SUSY parameter space are reviewed within
the framework of SUGRA GUT models. The WMAP data is seen to reduce the error in
the density of cold dark matter by about a factor of four, implying that the
lightest stau is only 5 -10 GeV heavier than the lightest neutralino when m_0,
m_{1/2} < 1 TeV. The CMD-2 re-analysis of their data has reduced the
disagreement between the Standard Model prediction and the Brookhaven
measurement of the muon magnetic moment to 1.9 sigma, while using the tau decay
data plus CVC, the disagreement is 0.7 sigma. (However, the two sets of data
remain inconsistent at the 2.9 sigma level.) The recent Belle and BABAR
measurements of the B -> phi K CP violating parameters and branching ratios are
discussed. They are analyzed theoretically within the BBNS improved
factorization method. The CP parameters are in disagreement with the Standard
Model at the 2.7 sigma level, and the branching ratios are low by a factor of
two or more over most of the parameter space. It is shown that both anomalies
can naturally be accounted for by adding a non-universal cubic soft breaking

Single Cut Integration
We present an analytic technique for evaluating single cuts for one-loop
integrands, where exactly one propagator is taken to be on shell. Our method
extends the double-cut integration formalism of one-loop amplitudes to the
single-cut case. We argue that single cuts give meaningful information about
amplitudes when taken at the integrand level. We discuss applications to the

Oncocytic carcinoma of parotid gland: a case report with clinical, immunohistochemical and ultrastructural features
BACKGROUND: Oncocytic carcinoma is an extremely rare neoplasm of the salivary glands. We report a case of oncocytic carcinoma arising in a parotid gland in a 66-year-old female. METHOD: An excisional biopsy of the parotid tumor was performed. The specimen was submitted for histology and after fixation in formalin solution and inclusion in paraffin, 3–5 μm sections were stained with hematoxylin and eosin for conventional evaluation and Periodic acid Schiff stain. Immunohistochemical studies were performed using antibodies against mitochondrial antigen, keratin, S-100, alpha-actin, vimentin, alpha-1-antichymotrypsin as well as an ultrastructural analysis was performed. RESULTS: Frozen sections revealed an infiltrative growth pattern and the diagnosis of a malignant epithelial lesion was made. Permanent sections stained with haematoxylin and eosin revealed a neoplasm that had replaced a wide area of the parotid gland and had invaded subcutaneous adipose tissue. Perineural invasion was evident, but vascular invasion was not found. Neoplastic elements were large, round or polyhedral cells and were arranged in solid sheets, islands and cords. The cytoplasm was abundant, eosinophilic and finely granular. The nuclei were large and located centrally or peripherally. The nucleoli were distinct and large. Periodic acid Schiff stain demonstrated a granular cytoplasm. Immunohistochemistry demonstrated mithochondrial antigen, keratin, and chymotrypsin immunoreactivity in the neoplastic cells. Ultrastructural analysis revealed numerous mitochondria packed into the cytoplasm of the neoplastic cells. Thus, the final diagnosis was that of oncocytic carcinoma of parotid gland. CONCLUSION: This neoplasm shows clinical, microscopical, histological and ultrastructural features of oncocytic carcinoma and this must be considered in the differential diagnosis of other proliferations in the parotid gland with abundant granular cytoplasm and metastatic oncocytic carcinomas
On form factors in N=4 sym
In this paper we study the form factors for the half-BPS operators
and the stress tensor supermultiplet
current up to the second order of perturbation theory and for the
Konishi operator at first order of perturbation theory in
SYM theory at weak coupling. For all the objects we observe the
exponentiation of the IR divergences with two anomalous dimensions: the cusp
anomalous dimension and the collinear anomalous dimension. For the IR finite
parts we obtain a similar situation as for the gluon scattering amplitudes,
namely, apart from the case of and the finite part has
some remainder function which we calculate up to the second order. It involves
the generalized Goncharov polylogarithms of several variables. All the answers
are expressed through the integrals related to the dual conformal invariant
ones which might be a signal of integrable structure standing behind the form

Analytic Results for Higgs Production in Bottom Fusion
We evaluate analytically the cross section for Higgs production plus one jet
through bottom quark fusion. By considering the small pT limit we derive
expressions for the resummation coefficients governing the structure of large
logarithms, and compare these expressions with those available in the

QCD corrections to plus -boson production at the LHC
The associated production at the LHC is an important process in
investigating the color-octet mechanism of non-relativistic QCD in describing
the processes involving heavy quarkonium. We calculate the next-to-leading
order (NLO) QCD corrections to the associated production at the
LHC within the factorization formalism of nonrelativistic QCD, and provide the
theoretical predictions for the distribution of the transverse
momentum. Our results show that the differential cross section at the
leading-order is significantly enhanced by the NLO QCD corrections. We conclude
that the LHC has the potential to verify the color-octet mechanism by measuring

Many faces of low mass neutralino dark matter in the unconstrained MSSM, LHC data and new signals
If all strongly interacting sparticles (the squarks and the gluinos) in an
unconstrained minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) are heavier than the
corresponding mass lower limits in the minimal supergravity (mSUGRA) model,
obtained by the current LHC experiments, then the existing data allow a variety
of electroweak (EW) sectors with light sparticles yielding dark matter (DM)
relic density allowed by the WMAP data. Some of the sparticles may lie just
above the existing lower bounds from LEP and lead to many novel DM producing
mechanisms not common in mSUGRA. This is illustrated by revisiting the above
squark-gluino mass limits obtained by the ATLAS Collaboration, with an
unconstrained EW sector with masses not correlated with the strong sector.
Using their selection criteria and the corresponding cross section limits, we
find at the generator level using Pythia, that the changes in the mass limits,
if any, are by at most 10-12% in most scenarios. In some cases, however, the
relaxation of the gluino mass limits are larger (). If a subset of
the strongly interacting sparticles in an unconstrained MSSM are within the
reach of the LHC, then signals sensitive to the EW sector may be obtained. This
is illustrated by simulating the \etslash, , and \etslash signals in i) the light stop scenario and ii) the light
stop-gluino scenario with various light EW sectors allowed by the WMAP data.
Some of the more general models may be realized with non-universal scalar and

Tumor collagenase stimulatory factor (TCSF) expression and localization in human lung and breast cancers.
Tumor cell-derived collagenase stimulatory factor (TCSF) stimulates in vitro the biosynthesis of various matrix metalloproteinases involved in tumor invasion, such as interstitial collagenase, gelatinase A, and stromelysin 1. The expression of TCSF mRNAs was studied in vivo, using in situ hybridization and Northern blotting analysis, in seven normal tissues and in 22 squamous cell carcinomas of the lung, and in seven benign proliferations and in 22 ductal carcinomas of the mammary gland. By in situ hybridization, TCSF mRNAs were detected in 40 of 44 carcinomas, in pre-invasive and invasive cancer cells of both lung and breast cancers. TCSF mRNAs and gelatinase A mRNAs were both visualized in the same areas in serial sections in breast cancers, and were expressed by different cells, tumor cells, and fibroblasts. The histological results were confirmed by Northern blot analysis, which showed a higher expression of TCSF mRNAs in cancers than in benign and normal tissues. These observations support the hypothesis that TCSF is an important factor in lung and breast tumor progression
Fluid gels: a new feedstock for high viscosity jetting
Suspensions of gel particles which are pourable or spoonable at room temperature can be created by shearing a gelling biopolymer through its gelation (thermal or ion mediated) rather than allowing quiescent cooling – thus the term ‘fluid gel’ may be used to describe the resulting material. As agar gelation is thermoreversible this type of fluid gel is able to be heated again to melt agar gel particles to varying degrees then re-form a network quiescently upon cooling, whose strength depends on the temperature of re-heating, determining the amount of agar solubilised and subsequently able to partake in re-gelation. Using this principle, for the first time fluid gels have been applied to a high viscosity 3D printing process wherein the printing temperature (at the nozzle) is controllable. This allows the use of ambient temperature feedstocks and by altering the nozzle temperature, the internal nature (presence or absence of gel particles) and gel strength of printed droplets differs. If the nozzle prints at different temperatures for each layer a structure with modulated texture could be created
