Estimates on counting functions associated to some hyperbolic operators and spectral properties

    Get PDF
We study the distribution of the eigenvalues of a linear operator associated to a hyperbolic partial differential equation with periodic boundary conditions. Using some recent results concerning the distributions of the values of indefinite quadratic forms at integers, we are able to derive the equidistribution of the eigenvalues relatively to the Lebesgue measure with exact asymptotics. Also we provide an asymptotic lower bound in the rational case

A Framework to Support Practitioners in Evaluating Business-IT Alignment Models

    Get PDF
Many business-IT alignment (BITA) models have been designed to support organizations in achieving, assessing and maintaining alignment between business and IT. These models focus on different components and emphasize different perspectives. This makes it difficult for practitioners to choose appropriate BITA models given organization at-hand. In this paper, an evaluation framework supporting practitioners to choose appropriate BITA models is presented. The framework was designed following design science as main research approach. The design process was based on literature and empirical studies. The literature study contributed in constructing a tentative version of the framework which was refined through an empirical study in 6 organizations. The final framework consists of 25 criteria categorized into four groups, and was demonstrated on six major BITA models showing its feasibility. Finally, the framework was evaluated by interviewing two business consultants and three CIOs from large-sized Swedish companies. The evaluation shows the framework having a complete set of criteria, but its usability and efficiency could be increased

Organizational culture continues to be cited as one of the most important factors for organizations’ success in an increasingly competitive and IT-driven global environment. Given the fact that organizational culture has an influence all over the organization, the complexity of its nature is increased when considering the relationship between business and IT. As a result, different factors that have influence on changing organizational culture were highlighted in literature. These factors are found in the research literature distributed in three main group; micro-environment factors, macro-environment factors and leader’s impact. One of the factors that have not been yet well investigated in researches is concerning business-IT alignment (BITA. Therefore the purpose of this paper is to investigate the impact of BITA maturity on organizational culture. The research process that we have followed is a literature survey followed by an in-depth case study. The result of this research shows a clear interrelation in theories of both BITA and organizational culture, and clear indications of BITA impact on organizational culture and its change. The findings may support both practitioners and researchers in order to understand the insights of the relationships between BITA and organizational culture components and provide a roadmap for improvements or desired changes in organizational culture with highlighted target business area

In the two molecules of the asymmetric unit of the title compound, C12H11N3O4, the seven-membered diazepine ring adopts a boat conformation (with the two phenylene C atoms representing the stern and the methine C atom the prow). The five-membered pyrrole ring, which has an envelope conformation, makes dihedral angles of 60.47 (10) and 54.69 (9)° with the benzene ring of the benzodiazepine unit in the two molecules. In the crystal, intermolecular N—H⋯O hydrogen bonds and π–π stacking interactions [centroid–centroid distance = 3.8023 (7)–3.8946 (7) Å] lead to the formation of a three-dimensional framework

Removal Efficiency of Textile Dyes from Aqueous Solutions Using Calcined Waste of Eggshells as Eco-friendly Adsorbent: Kinetic and Thermodynamic Studies

    Get PDF
This research investigates the removal of textile dyes (Rhodamine B and Alizarin Red S) from aqueous solution by a low-cost adsorbent prepared from eggshell waste. Batch adsorption experiments were conducted in order to determine the effect of different parameters such as pH, dye concentration, contact time, adsorbent dosage, particle size, and temperature. The best correlation was found by Langmuir model, and the maximum adsorption capacity was 175.58 mg g–1 for Rhodamine B and 156.56 mg g–1 for Alizarin Red S. Thermodynamic studies showed that the adsorption of Rhodamine B and Alizarin Red S were feasible, spontaneous, and exothermic in nature. Regeneration study conducted to test the reusability (five cycles) and comparison of adsorption capacities of Rhodamine B and Alizarin Red S showed that calcined eggshell adsorbent could potentially be used for the removal of dyes from aqueous solutions. Airborne Bacteria and Fungi Concentration in Relation with Bedding Type in Broiler Houses

    Get PDF
The aim of this work was the investigation of the effect of bedding type on the airborne concentration of bacteria and fungi in broiler houses. The study was performed in two commercial farms (A and B) with different bedding (chopped straw in farm A, sunflower seed hulls in farm B). The determination of the bacteria and fungi’s numbers was performed in the first and the sixth weeks of the production cycle. Both the concentration of the bacteria and fungi showed higher values in the farm A compared with the farm B, especially in the latter period of the production cycle. In both farms, significant differences (P < 0.05) were recorded between the two periods of the determinations. The results of this study suggest that using sunflower seed hulls as bedding leads to lower levels of microbial contamination of the air in broiler houses, comparing with the use of chopped straw

Control quality of enantiomeric purity of some derivatives of 1,4-dioxane was realized by liquid chromatography using chiral stationary phases or by capillary electrophoresis using chiral selector.Enantiomeric purity control of 2,3-dihydro-1,4-benzodionic system was achieved by chiral chromatography using ULTRON ES-OVM column with mobile phase constituted by 75% KH2PO4 (20 mM) at pH 6.6 and 25% CH3OH with 1.2 mL/mn as flow rate, using UV detection system at 220 nm.Enantiomeric resolution of 2,3-dihydro-1,4-pyridodioxinic system was controlled by electrophoresis capillary, using a mixture of anionic cyclodextrin and neutral dissolved in (HCOOH/NH3) at pH 4 and ionic strength of 50 mM and UV detection at 220 nm.Le contrĂŽle qualitĂ© de la puretĂ© Ă©nantiomĂ©rique de quelques dĂ©rivĂ©s Ă  base de 1,4-dioxane est souvent effectuĂ© par chromatographie en phase liquide utilisant des phases stationnaires chirales ou par Ă©lectrophorĂšse capillaire avec utilisation d’un sĂ©lecteur chiral.
