Solar Fusion Cross Sections
We review and analyze the available information for nuclear fusion cross
sections that are most important for solar energy generation and solar neutrino
production. We provide best values for the low-energy cross-section factors
and, wherever possible, estimates of the uncertainties. We also describe the
most important experiments and calculations that are required in order to

Using observed incidence to calibrate the transmission level of a mathematical model for Plasmodium vivax dynamics including case management and importation
In this work, we present a simple and flexible model for Plasmodium vivax dynamics which can be easily combined with routinely collected data on local and imported case counts to quantify transmission intensity and simulate control strategies. This model extends the model from White et al. (2016) by including case management interventions targeting liver-stage or blood-stage parasites, as well as imported infections. The endemic steady state of the model is used to derive a relationship between the observed incidence and the transmission rate in order to calculate reproduction numbers and simulate intervention scenarios. To illustrate its potential applications, the model is used to calculate local reproduction numbers in Panama and identify areas of sustained malaria transmission that should be targeted by control interventions
The Single-Particle Structure of Neutron-Rich Nuclei of Astrophysical Interest at the Ornl Hribf
The rapid nuetron-capture process (r process) produces roughly half of the
elements heavier than iron. The path and abundances produced are uncertain,
however, because of the lack of nuclear strucure information on important
neutron-rich nuclei. We are studying nuclei on or near the r-process path via
single-nucleon transfer reactions on neutron-rich radioactive beams at ORNL's
Holifield Radioactive Ion Beam Facility (HRIBF). Owing to the difficulties in
studying these reactions in inverse kinematics, a variety of experimental
approaches are being developed. We present the experimental methods and initial

Mechanical Control of Spin States in Spin-1 Molecules and the Underscreened Kondo Effect
The ability to make electrical contact to single molecules creates
opportunities to examine fundamental processes governing electron flow on the
smallest possible length scales. We report experiments in which we controllably
stretch individual cobalt complexes having spin S = 1, while simultaneously
measuring current flow through the molecule. The molecule's spin states and
magnetic anisotropy were manipulated in the absence of a magnetic field by
modification of the molecular symmetry. This control enabled quantitative
studies of the underscreened Kondo effect, in which conduction electrons only
partially compensate the molecular spin. Our findings demonstrate a mechanism
of spin control in single-molecule devices and establish that they can serve as

The rings of n-dimensional polytopes
Points of an orbit of a finite Coxeter group G, generated by n reflections
starting from a single seed point, are considered as vertices of a polytope
(G-polytope) centered at the origin of a real n-dimensional Euclidean space. A
general efficient method is recalled for the geometric description of G-
polytopes, their faces of all dimensions and their adjacencies. Products and
symmetrized powers of G-polytopes are introduced and their decomposition into
the sums of G-polytopes is described. Several invariants of G-polytopes are
found, namely the analogs of Dynkin indices of degrees 2 and 4, anomaly numbers
and congruence classes of the polytopes. The definitions apply to
crystallographic and non-crystallographic Coxeter groups. Examples and
