Weed seeds in the soil per hectare can reach millions of amount and consists of many differentspecies. The depth of the weed seeds can be used as indicator of competitive level between crop andweeds. The research aims to determine the composition and density of seed bank at various level ofsoil depths at “ Balai Benih Palawija ” Tanjung Selamat North Sumatra. Soil Samples warecollected from four soil depths, namely: 0-5 cm, 5-10 cm, 10-15 cm,15-20 cm using metal pipe withdiameter of 3 cm. The parameters measured were the number of weeds that grow by the depth ofsoil, weed composition (%) per depth of soil and weeds growing time per depth of soil. From resultshowed that the highest density of weed seed bank is found at the depth of 0 – 5 cm. Weedcomposition dominated ( 68.9 % ) by broadleaf weeds. There are differences in the composition anddensity of the real seed bank at different depths in the soil in the field area of Balai Benih IndukTanjung Selamat. Composition and density of weed tends to be lower in deeper soil depths

Software for Automated Generation of Cartesian Meshes

    Get PDF
Cart3D is a collection of computer programs for generating Cartesian meshes [for computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and other applications] in volumes bounded by solid objects. Aspects of Cart3D at earlier stages of development were reported in "Robust and Efficient Generation of Cartesian Meshes for CFD" (ARC-14275), NASA Tech Briefs, Vol. 23, No. 8 (August 1999), page 30. The geometric input to Cart3D comprises surface triangulations like those commonly generated by computer-aided-design programs. Complexly shaped objects can be represented as assemblies of simpler ones. Cart3D deletes all portions of such an assembled object that are not on the exterior surface. Intersections between components are preserved in the resulting triangulation. A tie-breaking routine unambiguously resolves geometric degeneracies. Then taking the intersected surface triangulation as input, the volume mesh is generated through division of cells of an initially coarse hexahedral grid. Cells are subdivided to refine the grid in regions of increased surface curvature and/or increased flow gradients. Cells that become split into multiple unconnected regions by thin pieces of surface are identified

: Diabetes mellitus is one of the chronic disease occurs in millions of people in the world (American Diabetes Association). Non-compliance of patients with diabetes mellitus taking medication due to lack of knowledge. Looking at the above problems, the researchers looked at the need to conduct research. The study design will use a cross-sectional study research was done dipoliklinik endocrine Hospital. Prof. Dr R. D. Kandou Manado. The research was conducted in October to November 2014. The population in this study were patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus dipolyclinik endocrine outpatient hospital. Prof. Dr RD Kandou Manado January-June amounted to 120 patients. Sampling technique in this research is purposive sampling a number of 58 respondents. Bersadarkan test results of the chi-square statistic was obtained p = 0.001. this shows niali p is not greater than α (0.05) and thus it can be concluded that there is a relationship of knowledge with medication adherence in diabetes mellitus type 2 Poly Endocrine RSUP.Prof. Dr R.D.Kandou Manado

Phylogenomic reclassification of the world's most venomous spiders (Mygalomorphae, Atracinae), with implications for venom evolution

    Get PDF
Here we show that the most venomous spiders in the world are phylogenetically misplaced. Australian atracine spiders (family Hexathelidae), including the notorious Sydney funnel-web spider Atrax robustus, produce venom peptides that can kill people. Intriguingly, eastern Australian mouse spiders (family Actinopodidae) are also medically dangerous, possessing venom peptides strikingly similar to Atrax hexatoxins. Based on the standing morphology-based classification, mouse spiders are hypothesized distant relatives of atracines, having diverged over 200 million years ago. Using sequence-capture phylogenomics, we instead show convincingly that hexathelids are non-monophyletic, and that atracines are sister to actinopodids. Three new mygalomorph lineages are elevated to the family level, and a revised circumscription of Hexathelidae is presented. Re-writing this phylogenetic story has major implications for how we study venom evolution in these spiders, and potentially genuine consequences for antivenom development and bite treatment research. More generally, our research provides a textbook example of the applied importance of modern phylogenomic research.Fil: Hedin, Marshal.

Phylogenomic analysis and revised classification of atypoid mygalomorph spiders (Araneae, Mygalomorphae), with notes on arachnid ultraconserved element loci

    Get PDF
The atypoid mygalomorphs include spiders from three described families that build a diverse array of entrance web constructs, including funnel-and-sheet webs, purse webs, trapdoors, turrets and silken collars. Molecular phylogenetic analyses have generally supported the monophyly of Atypoidea, but prior studies have not sampled all relevant taxa. Here we generated a dataset of ultraconserved element loci for all described atypoid genera, including taxa (Mecicobothrium and Hexurella) key to understanding familial monophyly, divergence times, and patterns of entrance web evolution. We show that the conserved regions of the arachnid UCE probe set target exons, such that it should be possible to combine UCE and transcriptome datasets in arachnids. We also show that different UCE probes sometimes target the same protein, and under the matching parameters used here show that UCE alignments sometimes include non-orthologs. Using multiple curated phylogenomic matrices we recover a monophyletic Atypoidea, and reveal that the family Mecicobothriidae comprises four separate and divergent lineages. Fossil-calibrated divergence time analyses suggest ancient Triassic (or older) origins for several relictual atypoid lineages, with late Cretaceous/early Tertiary divergences within some genera indicating a high potential for cryptic species diversity. The ancestral entrance web construct for atypoids, and all mygalomorphs, is reconstructed as a funnel-and-sheet web
