Direct Evidence of Two Superconducting Gaps in FeSe0.5_{0.5}Te0.5_{0.5}: SnS-Andreev Spectroscopy and Lower Critical Field

We present direct measurements of the superconducting order parameter in nearly optimal FeSe0.5_{0.5}Te0.5_{0.5} single crystals with critical temperature TC14T_C \approx 14 K. Using intrinsic multiple Andreev reflection effect (IMARE) spectroscopy and measurements of lower critical field, we directly determined two superconducting gaps, ΔL3.33.4\Delta_L \approx 3.3 - 3.4 meV and ΔS1\Delta_S \approx 1 meV, and their temperature dependences. We show that a two-band model fits well the experimental data. The estimated electron-boson coupling constants indicate a strong intraband and a moderate interband interaction

The development of intercultural competence during university studies is a necessary component in healthcare specialist's training. Thus, there is a need to create the model of intercultural competence development in medical students. The component analysis of the existing model of intercultural competence was performed to determine an adequate structure of the model for medical students. We also provided the definition of the intercultural competence.В статье проведен компонентный анализ существующей модели межкультурной компетенции с целью определения подходящей структуры модели для студентов-медиков

Resistance of synthetic hexaploid wheat to the leaf rust pathogen

Background. One of the promising sources for enrichment of the common wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) gene pool with new alleles is synthetic hexaploid wheat (SHW), or allopolyploids from crossing tetraploid wheats (2n = 4x = 28, BBAA) with accessions of Aegilops tauschii Coss. (2n = 2x = 14, DD), and subsequent doubling of the chromosome number in the hybrids. Objectives of the study were to evaluate the SHW accessions from the VIR collection for resistance to Puccinia triticina Erikss. populations collected in Russia; genotype the accessions; and summarize information from the published sources concerning the resistance of the studied accessions to other harmful diseases and pests.Materials and methods. Resistance of 36 SHW accessions from the VIR collection to the populations of P. triticina was assessed in the laboratory and in the field, under artificial infection pressure, using the techniques developed by the Institute of Plant Protection. A phytopathological test and PCR markers were used to identify the Lr genes. Results and conclusion. The SHW accessions were characterized according to their resistance to the Russian populations of the wheat leaf rust pathogen. The sources of resistance in the phase of emergence and in adult plants were identified. The phytopathological test isolated three accessions with Lr23; the PCR marker of Lr21=Lr40 was found in 11 accessions, Lr39=Lr41 in 19, and Lr22a in 3. At the same time, k-65496, k-65515 and k-65517 had si multaneously Lr21=Lr40 and Lr39=Lr41, while k-65497, k-65503 and k-65508 had Lr22a and Lr39=Lr41. The analysis of published data showed that many of the studied SHW accessions were also resistant to other harmful diseases and insect pests, so they are of interest for further studying and possible use in domestic breeding

Features of the electron structure of FeTe compounds

A theoretical and experimental study of the electron structure and nature of the chemical bonds in FeTe compounds in antiferromagnetic (AFM) and paramagnetic phases. It is established that the nature of the chemical bonds is mainly metallic, and the presence of covalent bonds Fe-Te and Te-Te helps to stabilize the structural distortions of the tetragonal phase of FeTe in the low-temperature region. It is found that the bicollinear AFM structure corresponds to the ground state of the FeTe compound and the calculated value of the magnetic moment MFe = -2.4μB is in good agreement with the data from neutron diffraction measurements. At the same time, the Fermi surface (FS) of the low-temperature AFM phase is radically different from the FS of the paramagnetic FeTe. Reconstructing the FS can lead to a sign change of the Hall coefficient observed in FeTe. The calculation results serve as evidence of the fact that the electron structures and magnetic properties of FeTe are well-described by the model of itinerant d-electrons and the density functional theory (DFT-GGA)

Rationale for endomyocardial biopsy in the diagnosis of heart disease in children and adults

    Get PDF
Endomyocardial biopsy (EMB) is the method of choice for diagnosing a wide range of myocardial diseases.Aim. To assess the rationale for diagnostic EMB in children and adults.Material and methods. Morphological and statistical analysis of 2803 diagnostic EMBs in adults (n=811) and children (n=83), including those in heart transplantation (n=1909), was carried out.Results. In 231 (28%) cases, adults were diagnosed with myocarditis, of which in 6 patients — granulomatous, in 5 — eosinophilic and in 6 — lymphocytic-macrophage myocarditis after coronavirus infection. In children, myocarditis was found in 22 cases (27%). Arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia took the second place in detection rate in children and adults. Immunohistochemical study revealed viral envelope protein 1 (VP1) antigen of enteroviruses in one third of myocarditis cases, and in half — other cardiotropic viruses. Dotted dystrophin expression was observed in myocarditis. A correlation was established between the perforin expression and myocarditis presence (Pearson χ2=27,8; Fisher's exact test=27,3; p=0,01).Conclusion. Analysis of diagnostic EMB results confirmed its rationale in adults and children not only for heart transplantation, but also for identifying cardiac pathology, including for myocarditis diagnosis. It has been shown that immunohistochemical study with antiviral antibodies can be considered as an alternative method for detecting viral infection. An immunohistochemical analysis for perforin and dystrophin can be recommended as additional morphological markers of myocarditis

In the modern political process of Russia actively used technology show. With their help, political actors can influence public opinion and shape the public interest in certain issues. In Russia, these technologies are relevant, and are especially well developed. The pressing of the problem is due to a new round of information war on the territory of Ukraine. Inclusion in the information space, and discuss the pressing issues of modern Ukraine by media people such as C. Shuster and V. Solovyov, suggests that the political show has entertainment figures, actuality, the ambiguity of the proposed conclusions. At the same time it becomes part of the information war and political reality of the normal state.
