Perturbative Expansion in the Galilean Invariant Spin One-Half Chern-Simons Field Theory
A Galilean Chern-Simons field theory is formulated for the case of two
interacting spin-1/2 fields of distinct masses M and M'. A method for the
construction of states containing N particles of mass M and N' particles of
mass M' is given which is subsequently used to display equivalence to the
spin-1/2 Aharonov-Bohm effect in the N = N' =1 sector of the model. The latter
is then studied in perturbation theory to determine whether there are
divergences in the fourth order (one loop) diagram. It is found that the
contribution of that order is finite (and vanishing) for the case of parallel
spin projections while the antiparallel case displays divergences which are
known to characterize the spin zero case in field theory as well as in quantum

Effective Interaction Techniques for the Gamow Shell Model
We apply a contour deformation technique in momentum space to the newly
developed Gamow shell model, and study the drip-line nuclei 5He, 6He and 7He. A
major problem in Gamow shell-model studies of nuclear many-body systems is the
increasing dimensionality of many-body configurations due to the large number
of resonant and complex continuum states necessary to reproduce bound and
resonant state energies. We address this problem using two different effective
operator approaches generalized to the complex momentum plane. These are the
Lee-Suzuki similarity transformation method for complex interactions and the
multi-reference perturbation theory method. The combination of these two
approaches results in a large truncation of the relevant configurations
compared with direct diagonalization. This offers interesting perspectives for

Deforming cubulations of hyperbolic groups
We describe a procedure to deform cubulations of hyperbolic groups by "bending hyperplanes". Our construction is inspired by related constructions like Thurston's Mickey Mouse example, walls in fibred hyperbolic -manifolds and free-by- groups, and Hsu-Wise turns. As an application, we show that every cocompactly cubulated Gromov-hyperbolic group admits a proper, cocompact, essential action on a cube complex with a single orbit of hyperplanes. This answers (in the negative) a question of Wise, who proved the result in the case of free groups. We also study those cubulations of a general group that are not susceptible to trivial deformations. We name these "bald cubulations" and observe that every cocompactly cubulated group admits at least one bald cubulation. We then apply the hyperplane-bending construction to prove that every cocompactly cubulated hyperbolic group admits infinitely many bald cubulations, provided is not a virtually free group with finite. By contrast, we show that the Burger-Mozes examples each admit a unique bald cubulation
Mission Planner Algorithm for Urban Air Mobility Initial Performance Characterization
In this paper, an initial characterization was performed of the Mission Planner algorithm developed by NASA for Urban Air Mobility (UAM) operations research. The algorithm plans conflict-free trajectories for flights to support a given set of UAM passenger trips. The UAM trips are planned in an on-demand, first-come, first-served manner, such that any given trip is subject to the constraints imposed by previously planned trips. For this analysis, the mission planning algorithm considered only the trajectory constraints from previously-planned trips in one test condition and added vertiport constraints for the second test condition. The conflict and constraint resolution strategies used by the Mission Planner were characterized by their percentage contribution to planning iterations, their percentage effectiveness in those iterations, and their contributions to the departure delay applied to each UAM trips flight. With the exception of the climb and descent vertical speed strategies, most strategies showed reasonable or good performance in all test scenarios. In the test condition with vertipad constraints enabled, both the total number of iterations executed, and the number of flights that required planning iterations, was reduced for all scenarios. This was the result of the natural conditioning of the traffic achieved with scheduling and the additional information available to the Mission Planner from the vertiport scheduler. The next steps for this work will include improvements to the mission planning strategies and analyses with additional constraints and under other demand scenarios
The Outburst of the Blazar AO 0235+164 in 2006 December: Shock-in-Jet Interpretation
We present the results of polarimetric ( band) and multicolor photometric
() observations of the blazar AO 0235+16 during an outburst in 2006
December. The data reveal a short timescale of variability (several hours),
which increases from optical to near-IR wavelengths; even shorter variations
are detected in polarization. The flux density correlates with the degree of
polarization, and at maximum degree of polarization the electric vector tends
to align with the parsec-scale jet direction. We find that a variable component
with a steady power-law spectral energy distribution and very high optical
polarization (30-50%) is responsible for the variability. We interpret these
properties of the blazar withina model of a transverse shock propagating down
the jet. In this case a small change in the viewing angle of the jet, by
, and a decrease in the shocked plasma compression by a factor of

Color Variability of the Blazar AO 0235+16
Multicolor (UBVRIJHK) observations of the blazar AO 0235+16 are analyzed. The
light curves were compiled at the Turin Observatory from literature data and
the results of observations obtained in the framework of the WEBT program
(http://www.to.astro/blazars/webt/). The color variability of the blazar was
studied in eight time intervals with a sufficient number of multicolor optical
observations; JHK data are available for only one of these. The spectral energy
distribution (SED) of the variable component remained constant within each
interval, but varied strongly from one interval to another. After correction
for dust absorption, the SED can be represented by a power law in all cases,
providing evidence for a synchrotron nature of the variable component. We show
that the variability at both optical and IR wavelengths is associated with the

Inhibitory effect on ovarian cancer ALDH+ stem-like cells by Disulfiram and Copper treatment through ALDH and ROS modulation
BACKGROUND:
Disulfiram (DSF) is a drug used for treatment of alcoholism that has also displayed promising anti-cancer activity. It unfolds its effects by inhibiting the enzyme activity of aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) isoforms.
METHODS:
MTT assay, spheroid formation, clonogenicity assay, qRT-PCR, and ALDH enzyme activity analysis were performed using ovarian cancer cell lines IGROV1, SKOV3 and SKOV3IP1. Cell cycle analyses and measurement of intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) were carried out by flow cytometry. ALDH+ and ALDH- cells were isolated by FACS sorting.
RESULTS:
ALDH activity was inhibited in ovarian cancer stem cells (the proportion of ALDH+ cells was reduced from 21.7% to 0.391%, 8.4% to 0%, 6.88% to 0.05% in cell lines IGROV1, SKOV3, and SKOV3IP1, respectively). DSF with or without the cofactor copper (Cu2+) exhibited cytotoxicity dose- and time-dependent and enhanced cisplatin-induced apoptosis. DSF + Cu2+ increased intracellular ROS levels triggering apoptosis of ovarian cancer stem cells (CSC). Significantly more colony and spheroid formation was observed in ALDH+ compared with ALDH- cells (P < 0.01). Moreover, ALDH+ cells were more resistant to cisplatin treatment compared with ALDH-cells (P < 0.05) and also exhibited a lower basal level of ROS. However, no significant difference in ROS accumulation nor in cellular viability was observed in ALDH + cells in comparison to ALDH- cells after pre-treatment with DSF (0.08 μM).
CONCLUSION:
Our findings provide evidence that DSF might be employed as a novel adjuvant chemotherapeutic agent in combination with cisplatin for treatment of ovarian cancer
New Gauge Invariant Formulation of the Chern-Simons Gauge Theory
A new gauge invariant formulation of the relativistic scalar field
interacting with Chern-Simons gauge fields is considered. This formulation is
consistent with the gauge fixed formulation. Furthermore we find that canonical
(Noether) Poincar\'e generators are not gauge invariant even on the constraints
surface and do not satisfy the (classical) Poincar\'e algebra. It is the
improved generators, constructed from the symmetric energy-momentum tensor,
which are (manifestly) gauge invariant and obey the classical Poincar\'e
